As just a function of the scale of China’s population density, I do not for one goddamn second believe that the US has more cases than China.

A handful of tourists caused exponential spread to the west, I cannot fathom a scenario where even the CCP dropped the iron fist hard enough to successfully contain this thing domestically. Hell, they hold sole responsibility for international spread besides. If Rome is struggling beyond capacity, what the fuck are we supposed to think is happening in Chongqing?

Anybody who buys the idea that the US has the most cases is beyond exceptional. It’s peak TDS. There are so many moving parts in that estimate that it’s basically meaningless to begin with, considering factors like reporting techniques, transparency, etc. All it says it the US is populous and has the health care infrastructure to confirm a high rate of cases.

To put it differently, China’s going to have a hard time hiding this forever. The world is going to notice when hundreds of thousands of people don’t show up to their factory job.

I've been watching alot of YouTube and the Adds I've seen have been from china about an outdoor ice museum of different sculpture's and other festivals that are still going on
They advertise it like its some cool thing but there is no way it's not spreading faster with events like this and not being cancled.

Also its china. When have they EVER been truthful about anything?

Idk, there's been people in the corona megathread who had been critical of the msm suddenly taking them deadly serious since the outbreak really kicked off. Also, it's been funny seeing normies who were against China oppressing Hong Kong and the Uyghurs (Tibet? What's that?) suddenly believing the CCP on corona.

For context, they report their annual homicide rate as 0.60 per 100,000 compared to 5.30 in the US (which is closer to 1-2 if you remove just a half dozen urban centers).

They claim that their country with orders of magnitude more people and poverty than Sweden has half its murder rate. They claim it’s lower in their communist paradise than in the vast majority of European social democracies.

Don’t believe shit from China. It won’t be long before they can’t hide it anymore.

If government getting involved an in area almost always chokes out the private enterprise efforts in that area, what would that involve with crime? Is it possible for the government to obtain a monopoly on murder?

It does, but there's a "black market" of violence. If the government wants you dead or imprisoned or badly hurt it will make it happen, but if someone else tries they go after them with fire and fury. Monopolies don't like competition after all.
