Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

It's amazing how they have time to worry about twitter fights when the companies are saying "Stop working because we can't reliably pay you right now" Holy shit guys, pick your battles. LCS' that have been around for YEARS are closing permanently because they can't even handle two weeks of this lockdown. Some of you will definitely not have jobs in the industry when this is over.
Guess what? Neither EVS nor YBZ need the dead retail outlets or Marvel or anyone else. They were forced to build their own everything. Now that the corporate structures that support flakes like Gail Simone are unraveling, guess who's really fucked? It isn't EVS or YBZ, that's for sure. Talk about poetic justice.

They get kicked out of these woke-ass shitholes and deplatformed from platforms that are currently burning to the fucking ground. Beautiful.

Honestly it breaks my fucking heart to see the guy responsible for Stray Toasters and Elektra and some of the best art ever put out under the Marvel name reduced to this pitiful, spiteful little creature. When he was attacking an elderly relative in public over some dumb Orange Man shit was so fucking cringe it hurt.
Oh I don't disagree, I just feel bad for the mom and pop shops who want to sell Batman books without drama and call it a day. Everyone else can absolutely get fucked. They made this bed and can lie in it.

I've been out of the loop. What's the reason for Diamond Distributors not shipping anymore? The virus or its not profitable for them anymore?
Everything is getting shutdown because of corona. Even the printers are closed for now.

Right now the virus. Profitability could be an issue in the near future though.

Who would have thought that Corona-Chan would've been the one to drive the knife into the comics industry?
That it was already this fragile?

With the coronavirus thing going on, it's just hilarious to watch the so-called "comic book pros" being in total denial that their industry is now crashing and burning before their own eyes and they still refuse to accept that it's their own fault for why the industry is going to implode soon.

As much as the pro-CG crowd can be spergy at times, they are now going to end up being proven right very soon on why 'woke' doesn't really sell and the coronavirus will be the final nail in the coffin for the traditional comic book industry.

Now I don't really think western comics will completely die off because indie comics do exist. But I will not be surprised if companies such as Disney and Warner Bros. will then decide to close their comic book divisions for good because at this point it just doesn't make any sense for these companies to continue to keep these money pits open anymore.

The comic book industry is going to crash for the same reasons why the video game industry crashed in 1983 because companies such as Atari back then put out more bad and mediocre video games and hardware that made people stop playing video games for a while that is until Nintendo appeared and then saved the video game industry from the brink of extinction.

Also to be clear here, it's not that people are not that fond of comic books anymore, it's just that Marvel, DC, and other companies are just too stubborn to realize of why 'woke' is killing off their brands and they sit there and wonder why these days manga are outselling comic books now.

It was also a huge mistake for letting only a single distributor monopolize on comic book sales and now with the coronavirus going on it is mostly going to hit those comic book stores the most because now they really risk seeing their businesses shutting down.

The only people that I will feel sorry for are the comic book stores and the blue collar workers such as the janitors and the people in charge of printing and packaging that work for these big name comic book companies because they will be the ones that will feel this crash the most.

Now with that said, the only ones I won't feel that sorry for are the soylents and the overweight blue-haired freaks with granny glasses that have now ran this industry into the ground and it's because they were the ones that have lead this industry into this mess in the first place and them losing their jobs, the way I see it, will be a win if it means to finally weed out these hacks for good.

So yeah, this is what's going to happen to western comic books in the foreseeable future. So if the next time you see speds on Twitter that just sit there and bitch about of some dumb shit of why there needs to be forced diversity in media, point to the comic book industry to show them why their ideas are stupid and won't really go anywhere.

They're sperging hard because that old boomer EVS tried to make #pencilsdown trend, which was lame. They're also freaking out because Comicsgate just went from an existential threat to a real threat to them as the industry collapses.
It's begun to dawn on them that the gravy train that was the big two, which supported their SJW grift, has derailed so crowdfunding might be the only way for them to earn a crust in comics going forward.
The problem with that is Comicgate fucking owns Youtube and Indiegogo, those are now enemy territory and Gail Simone's attempt to create a bridgehead by starting her Youtube channel to test the waters only shows how ill equipped for this marketing model she and the rest of her cronies really are. Hence the lame attempt by Mags to pass the peace pipe to comicsgate, they're terrified that they're going to get dragged in those spaces and they probably are.

The standard smug SJW's answer to any complaints about them gate-keeping and attempting to control every space they infest has been, 'It's a private company, we don't have to listen to/platform you and if you don't like our rules then go build your own ___________'
The main reason that Comicsgate piqued my interests a couple of years ago was the simple fact that it was the only #gate I'd seen that could realistically answer that smug challenge with, 'OK, we will'.
Now the SJW's are fucking raging that they did.

Did I miss something? I don't recall seeing any meltdowns from CG. Shitposting and maybe a little too happy about how some of these people are gonna be out of a job, but not meltdowns. Granted, it's a little warranted since a number of these people have professed the feeling from the other side and would gladly cheer if EVS or Ya Boi were put out on their asses, but it's also important to remember that guys who don't want drama and just want to put out books are getting fucked too

Also Gail, fuck your twitter. It's a pain in the ass to sift through so many tweets. If she was smart, she used this time off to work on something original instead sending out a million tweets a day.

That's a lot of desperate projection for an idiot shilling for an industry that will almost certainly die off in the shutdown, even with the hand-outs some of them will get.

Seriously, how retarded are you for allowing a monopoly on distribution and then not having a plan when that fucker quits? Also, you're pretty damn stupid to not try to change a selling plan that didn't work for years too, that's a thing.

Well they got a plan now, guess we'll find out if this was too little too late or if they can bounce back.

DC finally made a statement about they're gonna deal with the coronavirus. Full returnability from March 18, 2020 and June 24, 2020 and they're looking into new distribution channels. Ok Marvel, now it's your turn.

I am a little annoyed though, it took a pandemic for these fuckers to make comic books refundable.

To Direct Market Retailers:

First, the entire team here at DC hopes that you, your family and your employees are staying safe and healthy during this very tough and precarious time. We know that you have been waiting for DC to comment on the state-of-affairs and to address any measures we will take to help our community lighten the burden of the disruption to our business, and we’ve been working hard on a long-term, solution-focused plan. Here is how we will help:

Periodicals and books with in-store dates between March 18, 2020 and June 24, 2020 will be fully returnable. We’ll even provide credit for your separate return shipping of these items only.

Additionally, because we anticipate that continued disruption to business operations will create regional volatility, DC is exploring a multi-distributor model to provide us with the flexibility needed during this crisis to get new content to our readers on an ongoing basis. In the short-term, we continue to engage in active conversations with Diamond to help us solve the distribution issues that have arisen and hope to get new product to stores that want or need it as soon as possible. We will provide additional information about how we’ll make that happen in the coming days.

Thanks for your patience with us. DC will continue to monitor the situation, continue to speak with you directly, and continue to support you through the days ahead. You are the lifeblood of this industry.

All best,

The DC Team

I just noticed this. That suggested crossover Gail Simone made? Look at the names, Bendis, King, and Cates. No mention of artists. That tells you all the fuck you need to know. Look at who's omitted. No Geoff Johns, no Jeph Loeb, no Sean Murphy, not even Snyder who I loathe but still.

This is why comics are over. Because Bendis and King have been the go to directors of DC for the last year or two and Cates has been that at marvel.

She'd have to have an original idea first. Every time something goes wrong they double down. It's how they cope.

LOL. All these NPCs that shit on EVS and YaBoi are suddenly trying to make peace with him because they made big dollars outside of an industry that is crumbling around them and want to jump on the train before it's too late.

It's ironic that a literal disease is going to destroy a figurative disease.

I recall there was some "professional threat" leveled against AP by Waid, but I'm not sure of the details. Could've been studio space (dunno why Marvel would need to lease any since they're in NYC and AP is based somewhere in Texas) or it might have had something to do with AP enjoying a reduced cost side-benefit from their print outfit due to a symbiotic affiliation with Marvel. Whichever it was, it sounded really grotesque, but a completely toothless threat from Waid since he wasn't acting as an agent of Marvel (supposedly).

I just find it difficult to believe that AP didn't do any vetting whatsoever of Richard before signing on the dotted line. If they didn't, I guess they won't make that mistake again.

Perhaps. Like I wrote, though, if AP didn't do a single bit of vetting of Richard before agreeing to print & publish Jawbreakers, that's really on them. Plus, after all this unpleasantness, if I was the head of AP, I'd be seriously looking into eliminating or at least severely reducing whatever leverage Marvel might have in my company's affairs (presuming, of course, Marvel was behind this all along).

IIRC several AP employees do coloring/lettering work for Marvel and Waid basically threatened to blackball ALL AP employees, past or present, from getting these freelance gigs or ever being employed in any fashion, by Marvel if they didn't drop Richard. And I would not be shocked, given the number of tentacles Waids has in the industry, he probably threatened the same at DC (via likeminded SJW death kultists like Andy Khouri) and at Image and other indie outlets.

These threats are what made the owners so terrified enough to bend the knee to Waid, IE that not only the top brass but countless innocent employees, were threatened with being blackballed and never being able to get ANY work in the western comic industry.

It's amazing how this dude is literally staring down the barrel of being jobless and is still screeching that a bunch of speds saying his employers' comics suck is a "hate group".
[/QUOTE]

Bill S has TV money from Legion, which he's probably blown through already especially since Legion was a ratings flop and has ZERO rerun potential on over the air TV (and was recently moved to Hulu as far as it being packaged with the other FX shows now exclusive to Hulu).

Wokeness isn't what killed the industry.

Like I said before video games are filled to the brim with wokeshit and are still bigger then they've ever been.

The comic industry's problems go back decades and they're also suffering from the ongoing death of the periodical magazine/newspaper in general.

This is absolutely spectacular. While everyone else was prepared to go down with Diamond's ship, DC Comics just said, "We're only exclusive to you while you're a functioning operation. Fuck you. We're going to blow up at WAL MART and TARGET now, which are both open for the extent of the Pandemic, and we're going to find mini distributors who will get our books to whatever retailers remain."

This is apocalyptic stuff. Optimistically speaking, 80% of the industry will remain after this, with comics switching to a Fully Returnable model. Direct-to-Consumer will soon become a necessity for all smaller publishers.

Woke IMAGE books, RIP. Fully Returnable destroys their entire model. All of those catfood eaters are now finished.

ComicsGate spent two years prepping for this. We're nimble and better at Direct to Consumer than any small press or indie company. 2020 will be a fascinating show for anyone who is interested in this shit.

I agree that the latter is true, but I also believe that they drove a significant portion of their audience away by accommodating woke identity politics. In essence, its a mixture of both. You can argue the portion percentage, but its both.

Cat food is cheap and dangerhair troons are willing to live in squalor and filth for the priveledge of calling themselves "comic pros". It's going to take a lot more than this to kill a hydra. Chop off one dick, two more take it's place.

Like I and Smug Frieza said before only Marvel and DC will survive this if Disney/ATT don't yeet them to save a quarter.

They're the only ones with the capital and connections able to do so.
