Remember when everyone was convinced Copmala was the DNC's chosen one after she bodied Biden at the first or second debate? Those were the days. It looked like Biden was going to be a fallman for someone. Instead everyone else was a fallman for him.
Oh Kopmala. Why can't she throw that weird Swedish girl in jail for skipping school?

What a weak field. I mean seriously, this 2020 Dem field makes the 2000 NBA draft class look like world beaters.

Walking back the pledge would be ten times worse than never making it. Now that he has though, he's stuck with it.

I still think it'll be Stacy Abrams. For some reason they think it'll help them win Georgia and its two Senate seats up even though she lost a statewide election in a wave year.

In some odd way I think you may be right, my thinking right now is that the DNC is gonna make Joe pick a female VP, especially in some attempt to appeal to the progressives and an obese black woman would tick off a few diversity boxes. Also I noticed back in 2016 that it took them a really long time to call Georgia for Trump, so maybe they do actually think she can flip Georgia blue.

I think she was probably the original pick until Tulsi killed her momentum in a single night. That is probably why the DNC went so hard against the Surf Mom afterwards.

Biden's ascendancy was basically the political equivalent of a worked shoot, the Plan B to put into place if Kamala faltered too quickly. Even with COVID-19 effectively ceasing the primaries for the time being, it's pretty obvious that Biden will be the nominee for 2020.

Bernie's presidential run is only existing on paper at this point and Biden is the de facto DNC pick for 2020. The real question now is who will be his VP and how much will the pandemic affect the outcome of the election?

Now that the relief bill is mostly a done deal, I think Trump will have it in the bag if things can recover enough for the restrictions to be lifted by the end of the summer.

Realistically, the best-case scenario will be one where Trump and the federal government is able to loosen the most dire of the national restrictions and emergency measures by the first week of May outside of the worst-hit places like New York and California, and then slowly but steadily relax those conditions throughout the summer.

If things improve just enough for the bulk of the isolation and shutdown measures can be ended before Mother's Day 2020, then Trump will have this in the bag. The middle of May is probably the latest that the majority of the populace can tolerate these isolation conditions before many of them start to snap or grow extremely disgruntled, and the earlier these measures can be safely lifted, the better.

It's interesting to me that Weld insisted on wasting his time on the Republican primary and didn't run as a Libertarian again as he did as Gary Johnson's running mate.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any mentions to how the lack of a good 3rd party candidate should help Trump. Johnson got 3-5% in most of the competitive states, and I assume most of his voters would have went Trump, or at least would never vote D.
Gary Johnson was just a republican who liked fags and weed a bit more. Not very different from a Joe Biden.

The Libertarian party actually has two serious libertarian candidates this go round, with Jacob Hornberger and Vermin Supreme. The joke candidates like Adam Kokesh aren't even getting a look in.

Out of pure scholarly interest, can any burgerland civics smartyboi think of a legal way the democrats could ask/demand that the election be delayed for a year?

They've held off a stimulus package to put pussy politics into it and fail, only pissing off people, so its not like they won't be ready to do something more retarded.

That kind of thing happening though is probably as unlikely as a full on military coup, which unless we are burning bodies in the streets and mass starvation, etc. isn't going to happen despite all the doomer shit you see on the news and the Corona thread here.

Ouch. Definitely shows a: "welp I hope this goes well" mentality compared to Trumps base. I think media sources are (intentionally) downplaying how much drive people have to vote for Trump now. His most dedicated followers have only entrenched further and grown in number due in no small part to Democrat infighting inane bullshit. Increasing wings of the GOP even are sick to the gills of lefty grandstanding.

I think the biggest thing to come out of the impeachment fiasco was the fact that none of the republicans in senate were playing along. Only what, like 3 voted yea to extra witnesses? Romney and the others' were just voting to continue the process, not endorsing it.

So in between an increasingly devided left, shaky leadership, energized opposition and the opposing party much more reluctant to play nice and things aint looking good for 2020 in donkey town.

Reluctant 2016 Trump voters will be enthusiastic 2020 Trump voters. But more important are the 2016 Clinton voters who will be reluctant 2020 Trump voters. That's what will really hurt the Dems.

Yeah at this point the only things stopping me from definitely calling this for Trump is that he could have a stroke or heart attack, catch the corona virus, or some similar health calamity and also the desire to not engage in the same hubris Shillary voters did in 2016.

Other than that though? I'm getting a strong sense of deja vu here, not completely, because history doesn't actually repeat itself exactly, but it sure the fuck does rhyme.

We've had elections in the middle of the Civil War and WW2. In the age of mail-in ballots and electronic voting, there's no reason to delay it for some glorified flu.

I could see some states doing mandatory mail ballots. Or maybe opening physical polls for 3 days instead of 1 and only allowing a certain number of people in at a time. But there isn't really federal power to force a delay, the states control the mechanisms of voting to prevent centralized power from dictating how democracy works. It takes an actual Constitutional Amendment to force conformity.

FUCK YEAH VERMIN

Look at all those downvotes, and the comment section...I think that the dems just might be in a little bit of trouble you guys. Just a thought.

Again, people are pissed off, but you know, orange man bad so the dems are definitely going win in 2020, right guiz? :smug:

Looks like things are starting to change slowly as we get closer to November.

The thing is, you can see the legacy media get more and more desperate as they realize what's coming. But they're complete fucking idiots, so they only know two buttons on the machine -- push hard and push harder.

The negative spin is too over the top even for the normies at this point. People don't wanna hear about how Trump's a big fat doo doo head because he didn't telepathically know last year to ask people to make more masks and ventilators (which would have been ignored or called fear mongering), they want to know how we're gonna get out of this without 50 million dead in the US, and exactly how we're gonna fuck over China for doing this to us.

Wonder if they'll hit a point where they flip and try and convince all of us that they were always on Trump's side.

Meanwhile, on Earth 2, Trump's activation of the Defense Production Act back in January successfully produced 500 million masks by the time Covid became a problem. In the US, there were 0 deaths from the virus by March, but Trump got removed from office via the hastily added 3rd impeachment article, "Acting Like A Total Dictator For No Reason".

A somber President Pence gave daily briefings from the White House tracking the death count in Europe and Asia, until he got impeached for "Not Mentioning That Gays Were Dying In Higher Rates".
