Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

They think the main demographic of Republicans is the same as it was in 2007. They think that most Republicans are religious fundamentalists, which is why they think the religion angle works on Republicans today.
Meanwhile the Religious Right as they've come to fear for the most part died when Jerry Falwell died and then it became even deader when Fred Phelps died. These people are in no position to call the people they don't like outdated dinosaurs if they still think the Bible Thumper Boomers still left alive are any kind of influential threat when they haven't been relevant in over a decade

Anne Frank spent 25 months in solitary fearing for her life when she was a pre-teen and she somehow managed to do it without smartphones, computers, video games, the internet or even being able to make loud noises, just to put this into perspective.
I mean, you need to be prepared to be locked up in small places as a child if you're going to be hanging out near rabbis.

Jon Stewart called, he wants his bit from 2006 back

Seriously. I'm old enough to remember voting in the 2000 election, and in the uncertain chaos that followed, the news was going nuts over every little thing. I limited myself to only two shows: The Spin Room, a half hour daily recap with Bill Press and Tucker Carlson; and The Daily Show. Jon Stewart was a legit useful news source that actually kept me decently informed for a few weeks. He earned his reputation as an opinion shaper, before squandering it in the Obama years.

20 years later TDS is irredeemable garbage infected with TDS... but Tucker Carlson is arguably the most relevant and entertaining person remaining on cable news. There's an ironic flip happening here, but it has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with the state of media.

(Bill Press did fine for a while, but seems to have been nudged out of relevance by remaining an old school liberal. Now he's down to doing a radio show out of Chicago and a tiny presence on Youtube.)

That's the problem with him and his ilk, they're literally mentally stuck in the Bush era and thinks nothing has ever changed since 2007. Hell, even the artstyle of his avatar harkens back to some cheap South Park imitation that was commonplace on Newgrounds and the like at the time

Close, they're aware things have changed, and they're desperately trying to FORCE them back to the way they were, because that was their Trek-like Nexus where everything was perfect,

For THEM.

And like the antagonist in that film... any body count is acceptable to achieve it.

The left genuinely wants trump to be hitler even more and are getting mad he wont use sweeping powers :story:

This really makes me glad that Trump won. If Hillary won (and didn't catch Corona), the first naked power grab by Democrats would probably be to nationalize the medical sector or force a single payer system.

Edit : I'd also add this machiavellian take as well. That being that it seems we'll be heading into a recession during an election year, but Trump has the best excuse possible for avoiding most of the blame. Republicans lucked out in my opinion.

And banning arms sales as "nonessential" in an "emergency" and then fighting for 5 - 8 years in the courts after the crisis is over that the "special order" banning their sale MUST remain in place because "The emergency isn't over if we can't say for sure another mass shooter isn't out there, sick and delusional from COVID" knowing full well they can't make it last, but hoping that the closure will drive the firearm market into ruins.

People already are giving him a pass because they recognize this recession had nothing to do with the Executive branch, just a global crisis. Not only will it not effect Trump, I forsee him enacting a plan of "we've got millions unemployed, the best thing to do now is start building factories here to put them to work instead of offshoring it, we need to be self-sufficient in industrial production again, get me a Republican congress, and it happens tomorrow"

EDIT - also, high unemployment is going to make a lot of people unsympathetic to the "do you really think an American is going to do THAT job, just hire an illegal, it won't hurt" special pleading.

Get ready for the China shills to work in overdrive. Trump is continuing his work of curbing the growth of China.

He signed that while pulling this. Get fucked Xi.

It's back to the North Korea playbook: World War 3, part 2: Wu Flu Boogaloo

Oh nooooo, Beijing is angry. Guess what you're going to do about it, Xi? That's right, nothing, because you got 100 million desperate people in pseudo-quarantine, and you can't take your eyes off the riots even when the Cheeto Emperor is poking you in both eyeballs.

It's naive of me to think, but I wish people would stop using unrelated historical events or people to back their political opinion. It hurts every time I see someone go "OMG, this is just like [insert well-known historical event" but seem to have no grasp of what they're talking about but act like they do. Like "KIDS IN CAGES = JUST LIKE THE HOLOCAUST, WAKE UP PEOPLE!" is not only wrong but ignores actual historical context, honestly I also find it quite offensive to try to compare the two. I saw someone trying to say that the Chinese virus is going to have the same cultural/societal impact as a world war and my brain just hit the kill switch. I would really love to just sit down with these people and ask them what they know about the stuff they keep referencing.

Those exact people want to protecc mainland China and how it's evil to be bigoted towards them as the chinks harvests organs from muslims and commits extreme animal cruelty i.e. eating animals as they're still concious and very well alive while touting asian ethnic supremacy sorta like a certain harry potter regime from the 40's.
