Exactly.
I have a story to share that's relevant to dealing with this sort of stupidity. A couple years ago, I made a bogus Alternet account just so I could do a combination of trolling and arguing. It was a waste of my time and a stupid idea, but it also gave me more insight into the type of people who represent this line of thought.
As per usual with a website like that, they're always ranting about white conservative Christians. I decided to jump into the comments of one article that was railing on about how white conservative Christians fuel homophobia and transphobia. The dogpile I was about to receive blew my mind.
I asked if any of these critiques and standards would apply to black and Latino churches. First thing, one person accused me of being against equality. I asked this person, "Why is it okay for minority Christians to hate LGBT?" This person and now a swarm of many other likeminded idiots told me it's their culture and... They have the right to be the "same kind of jerks." Seriously, they really told me that! That it's bad if white people do this, but because they're minorities with different cultures that it would be racist to hold them to the same standards. Just let them be homophobic and transphobic. They unironically believed this too. Apparently, I'm a racist asshole for saying that minority Christians should held to the same standards with LGBT.
On top of being dogpiled by the dogmatic tards, I also got banned for questioning what passes for their logic. I wasn't heartbroken about being banned from Alternet. It's a shithole website. But I was a little surprised at the excuses and mental gymnastics they went through to defend this shit.
