Trump's approval has gone up since this virus started to heavily impact the United States. And at the press conference earlier today, one of the doctors specifically stated that the entire world wasn't prepared for the scope of this pandemic because of the FALSE NUMBERS that China has been reporting since day one. I'd like for these doctors to call out WHO as well, but I won't hold my breath for that. I'm glad top people are finally saying it about China during these pressers, at least. These pressers continue to have very high ratings, so a lot of people are seeing this important information being said.

Mainstream media be damned, public opinion is currently working in Trump's favor ... And as I said last night, more and more people in the media around the world are starting to turn on China.

Also, the mainstream media is throwing out these large numbers, saying we're all doomed for 18 months just to make Trump look bad in an election year (and because some of these networks are on China's payroll-- you can't convince me that isn't the case). However, if the worst of this lasts throughout April and not much longer, then the media is setting up for Trump to tout a huge victory. The media is, once again, being incredibly stupid. They're making it easy for Trump to exceed expectations.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it will only be a few more weeks of this. I'm expecting a couple of more months of this (not 18 of course, but let's just say I think our Summer vacations are going to remain at home). We get through this in even 6 months (which is a long time), and Trump could still claim a victory that the majority of likely voters would agree with based on the "end is nigh because of Orange Man" hysteria from the media.

Just a word on the way the virus attacks different systems. None of this is unexpected. I dont think we have any real data that it’s doing a rabies like climb up nerve fibres, but all the other stuff - cardiac damage, kidney and brain damage, gonad damage - viruses can do that. Flu can do that, heck, the common cold can do that if you’re immune suppressed enough.
What’s happening right now? This is what you would expect when a respiratory virus we have zero immunity to gets loose. It doesn’t mean it’s the andromeda strain. Repeat: we are not all going to die.
This is a very nasty, novel to us pneumonia virus. We should be extremely concerned about it but it’s not going to kill humanity off.

When something jumps into humanity from an animal source it has the potential to rip through because we are immune naive. That first wave can be horrendous. Those reports of the 1918 virus show rapid respiratory deterioration after an initial period of illness. It also shows involvement of other tissues. None of this is new and none of it means we are doomed as a species.
This first wave, and possibly the second if we get one in the autumn, are going to be bad.
Our responses (at least in the UK) are Ok so far. Rapid expansion of bed capacity, rapid mobilisation of army logistics (man they are good) and rapid deployment of staff where needed. We need to get testing rolled out properly and more PPE but apart from that we are doing alright.
It’s going to be a hard summer. But we need to keep a level head and do what we need to, while trying to keep the country going. And remember that unlike 1918 we have antibiotics, breathing support and the ability to get going on a vaccine.
Stay calm but wary. Help your neighbours and anyone who needs a hand around you. Be decent.

Another clue is that the county sits on a major migratory flyway for 17 bird species, including sand hill cranes and mallards. Scientists today understand that bird influenza viruses, like human influenza viruses, can also infect hogs, and when a bird virus and a human virus infect the same pig cell, their different genes can be shuffled and exchanged like playing cards, resulting in a new, perhaps especially lethal, virus.
We cannot say for certain that that happened in 1918 in Haskell County.

Absolutely. 80%+ of pandemic flu starts in China. The consensus now is that this probably did too and may have been shipped over with Chinese labourers. China itself wasn’t badly affected at the same time but had been previously. That points to a degree of immunity.
However, as will no doubt shock you to your core, you Arent Allowed To Say That Kind Of Thing these days.
It’s unlikely it started in Kansas, and it certainly didn’t start in Spain, let’s put it that way.

It's becoming fairly obvious by the patients that recovered that Triage here was minimal or even just theoretical (and therefore non-existent), we got a lot of people on multiple risk groups recovering. Seems our strategy paid off. Sadly yesterday was both a contagion peak and a death peak for us. But from what I'm hearing that was likely baglog (statistical noise) and our downward trend will go on. Morale is certainly high, outside of a few freakouts in Castilla y Leon.

Also, Italy lets kids go out with 1 adult for 1 hour a day... How they plan to enforce any limitation there don't ask me. Italy just likes pain at this point.

Also the press claims we have a second death in Puerta del Mar. No one seems to know who died or under what conditions. So unions are getting really antsy at the directives for not being transparent enough with their personnel. It's probably been a bureaucratic fuckup the reason why they didn't tell us but, still. I'll say more on that later, but if my guess is correct then reason no one knows is because it was some risk group boomer so the ones treating them didn't find it relevant to spread. Now assuming the numbers are 100% accurate (they fucking aren't) and looking at how the virus was handled and spread. It's fair to say that China, South Korea, and Taiwan did successfully contain the virus, and it was controlled thereafter. Of course they could do better, of course if the shits of Wuhan weren't corrupted, the virus should be handled at least a good 5 days earlier, but it is what it is.

If we are willing to calculate those numbers and state that if Wuhan paid attention to the virus and let Beijing know at the end of 2020, the matter would be far less severe. However, this only applies to China at this point. Maybe China would see 10k rather than 90k. For us, it doesn't fucking matter at all. We had months, but the crony corporate ran governments care about the economy. It's this thing called the CNY in China, people travel. The virus would reach outside of China no matter what.

This incubation period is the worst. China also has lots of "non-symptom Coronachan carriers". They don't cough, no fevers, nothing, but they somehow test positive. What the fuck? Truly a scary virus. 2-14 days, then there's a sizeable bunch at 20, some at 30, and several at 40 who just drop dead after.

The deadlier the virus, unironically the better. EBOLA was very deadly, it will kill the host swiftly. However, this suppresses the spread of the virus.

So 2 things I missed on the first round.

1-There's some fucktard on the news in A3 going full fearmonger about triage, and I fucking hate her. So. Here's the story she told: her mom. And 80yo immunosupressed (leukemia no less so add cancer to the mix) smoker was found already choking on the residence. Then she was sent to a private hospital where they got her a private ambulance to send her to the public (because as I said the private ain't doing shit against corona, as always. They deal with soft shit if it needs real treatment its just thrown at the public unless it's a specialist center, which are the inmense minority), then in the public they "gave her paliative medicine but refused to give her a ventilator due ti triage." And this, she claims, is a human rights violation.

Now. First off, her mom's chance of survival was less than .1% at that point. Octogenary smokers with leukemia have a life expectancy in the microseconds if a respiratory illness gets them, so, if it was triage, I'd still say well chosen. BUT. It wasn't triage. We've had reports of people with all sorts of risk groups even worse than that recovering, triage is practically nonexistant outside of the few temporary collapses. So what happened?

Remember what I told you happened to a loved one of mine some time ago? Yeah, eh, when some people enter the door they're already lost. They didn't give her paliative medicine, they were trying to STABILICE her to try and intubate her, sometimes you just can't even get through step one if they arrive bad enough, and if you try to ram a ventilator down the throat of someone before stabilizing, fuck, that's an ugly way to go.
