La linea= the line, also used to mean "the margin", because it was built on the margin of gibraltar to tend to those at the other side of the frontier (line), etc. We don't think names a lot.) Poit is, those fuckers on Provincial have been giving our number as the go to for all of cadiz province and shaking off work. Assholes. I did tell you I knew some awful union members. Through this I learned it ain't just calls they were sending us. My union contact didn't let me know since now, turns out Provincial has made rules to send to Puerta del Mar their corona cases. Fucking assholes got a lot less population to care about than us, but their director is a fucking cunt. I'm already raising hell to stop that madness, god knows what could happen if this isn't fixed before we're dealing with too much shit. Wanna know the issues with public healthcare? Our chinks got clever and gave back most masks running an image cleansing campaign. Btw A3media keeps going full CCP propaganda. Thabkfuly most people know better. EDIT: STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES GET READY FOR A SHITSTORM! After the profesionals from Clinica La Salud in Cadiz joined the protest against their private overlords and the PP's bullshit making them do elective shit and not helping with corona, the Junta de Andalucia (PP) has been quite quick to give authorization to their business to do an ERTE which they just formalized. An ERTE is a temporary mass firing. They warned people the clinic had excess material and was doing nothing of worth for it, the right responded by firing them all and closing up shop! The clinic is now completely non-functional and the material is still being hogged! Welcome to corruption wonderland! Guess today we get to see the uglier side of both public and private healthcare!

They enterprisingly sent this letter to everyone in the practice aged over 50 and anyone with a pre existing condition (they pulled the flu vaccine list), telling them to make a will and fill out a DNR request. This has been received epically badly.

Although at the time I wrote this over 33,000 people had died from COVID 19 infections worldwide, the numbers of patients dying in intensive care units and on mechanical ventilation is unknown.

We have some early published data on percentages which vary widely. A paper from China involved 710 Covid-19 patients; 52 were admitted to an ICU. Of the 22 who eventually required mechanical ventilation, 19 (86%) died. Another early study reported 31 of 32 (97%) mechanically ventilated patients died.

I posed the following question on Twitter: “What is the mortality rate for [COVID-19] patients who require mechanical ventilation?” and received answers ranging from 25% to 70% from people who have personal knowledge of outcomes in their hospitals.

Probably the best published information we have so far is from the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Center (ICNARC) in the UK. Of 165 patients admitted to ICUs, 79 (48%) died. Of the 98 patients who received advanced respiratory support—defined as invasive ventilation, BPAP or CPAP via endotracheal tube, or tracheostomy, or extracorporeal respiratory support—66% died.

Compare that to the 36% mortality rate of non-COVID patients receiving advanced respiratory support reported to ICNARC from 2017 to 2019.

An article in The Guardian said this about the ICNARC study, “The high death rate raises questions about how effective critical care will be in saving the lives of people struck down by the disease.”

We know nothing about the survival rate of COVID-19 patients who have undergone cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Why do we need to know the mortality rate of patients who are on mechanical ventilation or suffer cardiac arrest?

If the number of critically ill patients exceeds the current supply of intensive care beds and ventilators as occurred in Italy, it would help intensivists to triage. And if CPR is ineffective in these patients, we should not be subjecting caregivers to the risks involved in resuscitation.

The possible need for ventilator triage is no longer theoretical, and the ethical issues are being discussed by hospital committees and others. For an in-depth look at the problem, I recommend this article from Undark, a non-profit digital magazine. If we run out of ventilators, “American medical teams, too, will soon face the hardest possible decisions over who lives, and who dies, when not everyone can be treated.”

Hospitals need to have policies in place before that crisis occurs.

If you want something to pass the time and if podcasts are your thing, I listen to this podcast called Oh No Ross and Carrie where these 2 people investigate claims made by different religious groups, cults, churches, random crazies and whatever. Basically, they show up so you don't have to. They've gone to different meetings, joined various groups etc. They've joined Eckankar, went to UFO conferences, pretended to be interested candidates in Scientology, attended Raelian meetings, went to the Tony Alamo ministries, tried reflexology, went to Tijuana with cancer patients and their families to tour "alternative" cancer treatments that the US currently bans, talked to flat earthers, anti vaccine people, saw mediums etc.

In their last episode Carrie interviewed a "self-taught medical intuitive and trance channeler". After an accident and near-death experiences, she claims that with channeled energy and eye blinks she can diagnose conditions with the accuracy of an X-ray and even cure cancer and Coronavirus.
And honestly, I didn't expect it to be so funny. Obviously, she was full of shit. But the slightest probing from the host made her unravel and she exposed herself for the fraud she is. She has an ebook she just put out, called Coronavirus: Top 21 tips for protection, if you wanna cop that. Which I'm sure you can't wait to do.

Basically there's some evidence that the number of asymptomatic infections was much higher than previously known, bringing the Italian case fatality rate down to 0.2%, same as reported in China. Also, it seems like draconian social distancing does work to bring down the peak number of infected. Not unexpected, but it's nice to know we didn't trash our economies for nothing. I'm hoping over the next few weeks the predicted final death toll will drop as the models get updated and the health services decongest.

Almost every single article is flooded with comments that it's all fake, it's just a flu or there is no coronavirus at all, and all the videos from NYC are staged. I guess the constant ambulances sounds in the city is also just fake (as reported by the New Yorkers I know). (The sounds are actually easy to fake, I admit, just run empty ambulances on the streets all the time).

I assumed they were lying too, because fuck the CCP. What's interesting about the Campbell video is that he's got a study where that figure seems to be close to the truth in Italy and other European countries too because it predicts a higher asymptomatic infection rate.

I don't really know enough about their model to say whether it's realistic.

There are studies coming out of China which are lies. There are studies coming out which are true. There are studies that would have been true but were censored as politically inconvenient. Hell, presumably there are studies that would have been lies but were also censored as politically inconvenient too because the people doing the censoring were too fucking stupid to realize.

The final CFR for coronavirus is not something anyone knows for sure at this point and pinning it down is made by hard by the CCP randomly vanning scientists and deleting their papers. Even without that, I think it would be hard to pin down because reality is subtle.

Agreed. I was going there because they had some good news aggregation but the comments are a cesspit of bots and people who really bring nothing to the table. It just gets too hard to sift through the crap.
