Look, we know Diabetes is for whatever reason a high risk factor for death via Corona-Chan. We also know that African Americans are one of the most genetically predisposed groups for type 2 diabetes. The local store brought out a bunch of flip flops that didn't sell last year...fugly as fuck... but I bought two pair because I live in them in the summer. Anyone who has to replace work shoes might want to buy now, places like 'shoes for crews' rely on chinese made goods and pickings might get slim soon. I keep remembering weird hippie diys where you could make sandals out of old tires and stuff and really hope it never goes that far.

Iranians are just butthurt that Israel has (probably) built a full nuclear triad on a shoestring budget and on the down low before their country even built the first bomb despite shouting loudly that they were trying. The dumb thing is that he's complaining about that the Germans put in 650mm torpedo tubes which might be used for Popeye Turbo. Well, it turns out the nuclear-capable Tomahawk can be fired from regular 533mm tubes. It doesn't seem all that unlikely that Israel developed nuclear warheads to fit Tomahawks given it tried to buy them from the US. Only when it was turned down did it develop Popeye Turbo. Those 650mm tubes might not even be needed for Popeye Turbo, because Israel had miniaturized warheads back in the 90s.

I’m not sure why the UK is having problems with testing. There are hundreds of small biotechs, probably a dozen or two who could make a decent antibody self test and have it ready for validation in a week. Every lab in the country has PCR machines of all types. Commandeer them, cluster them locally.
There are multiple large central labs in the Uk. All over the country -they serve the clinical research industry and are capable of running hundreds of thousands of tests a day EACH. Fera, cellomatics, PPD, covance, Q2, Hammersmith, start using them. They can do bulk ELISA s and bulk PCR. Don’t have an ELISA yet? What the fuck are you playing at? Two dozen small providers in the uk could have this sorted for you. Not enough reagents? Combine the wells if needed and split out any positives to identify the individual samples that are positive.

This is infuriating. Pharma and Bio Tech is one of the areas the UK is genuinely world class in. I don't mean best in the world numbah one, but genuinely top tier. That they didn't use this ability efficiently is annoying.

Interesting thought, you're probably correct. However I was under the impression most shoe factories are located in places like Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, etc...? I know that is where the "Made In" label on Nike, Reebok, etc, is labelled, and thats where the factories made famous in "The Big One" are all located.

I think the theory is that even if the shoe is assembled in SEA or whatever they probably get some aspect of their raw materials through China

Those athletics do come from elsewhere than china, but are higher end. If you need something soon now and only have fifty bucks, I'd say buy now while you can find it. Supply will be a fucker for a bit too, hard to say how "essential" shoes will be deemed.

Like this can't just be a global power sending humanitarian aid to fellow humans in need. The US one is especially baffling. Trump could have easily said no we got it handled thanks, but didn't.
