1. They're the dipshits who just kept partying and willfully chose to completely ignore this, and then once shit hit the fan, the local politicians decided to play hot potato with who took the blame instead of getting off of their asses and working to fix it.

2. The rest of the country is dealing with this shit too. New York City isn't the only city in the U.S. and it's not anyone else's fault that New York City made no efforts whatsoever to prepare for this or replenish any of their stockpiles. Every single state is supposed to maintain their own stockpile of emergency supplies before trying to rely on Federal stockpiles and New York didn't do this.

3. Trying to equate this with 9/11 is just ridiculous at best.

I live here and I agree and what's more I think most people would, even the hardcore lefties. I personally don't get the praise Cuomo is getting, the state of New York didn't do anything to prepare for future disasters, much less a pandemic. Hurricane Sandy wasn't that long ago.

I noticed its the FBI, a Federal agency, that's been going after hoarders and scalpers. Not the state of New York. Cuomo and Wilhelm simply keep demanding more.

/sigh! I hate being right about this sort of thing

Way back in this thread I had discussed why we don't have massive stockpiles of PPE and all this gear "we surely knew we would need if ever there was a global pandemic like has never been seen before in human history!" Well here's why. This shit has a shelf life. And if you can't use it within X amount of time it falls apart. It dry rots. It gets mold. Soft rubber components dry out and crack. In the case of technological items like Ventilators, it is simply stockpiled, often still sealed in manufacturers packaging. Firmware and software has never been updated. etc. and of course we get the shrieking when the warehouse is cracked open. "OMG! almost 6000 masks were falling apart, and they were all past their expiration date!" Well yes, most of these were purchased dusing the SARS or H1N1 scare. So they've been sitting in a warehouse for 15 years. Remember the scariest words are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help!". Medical supplies are not really something you can stockpile for this amount of time. Heck even classic linnen bandages turn yellow and brittle after a decade or two in warehouse storage. Our Government, heck ALL Governments manage emergency resource reserves like the last scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's what they do. It's how they are hardwired. The only way to actually make it work would be to use a first in first out inventory management system whereby they sell off parts of the stock every year and replace it with fresh. But that's not an idea politicians and Federal Managers would ever come up with. And anyone who did come up with it would quickly be using it to launder money to friends and family.

Why should NYC get love when they belittled everyone else and did no preparation.
I caught a bunch of cuomos press conferences and they while clearly the state is a really shit spot even compared to italy and spain i did find it kinda absurd that they alone are demanding 40k ventilators, that way more than any nations here in the EU have, just for a single city. Also there is no fucking way they have enough medical personnel the utilize that many safely, and if somehow all other states and federal govt gave them that many it would 100% fuck everyone else in the US

I’m not saying people shouldn’t avoid googles shit, but from what I’d seen they’re getting this data from your cell provider. Doesn’t matter at that point if you have your gps disconnected as for monitoring purposes a tower is enough. You could mitigate it via a spoof tower (only about 600 to make if you don’t have any other parts), but that spoof tower would need to connect to the internet at some point. So it would just be mitigated, but this bullshit is here to stay.

In a world where you become a prohibited person from owning weapons on the suspicious you smoke pot so you get no knock raid killed, no one really gives a fuck about their privacy anyways, to question most narratives is dismissed as crazy, and at best we just get apathy towards most things. Yeah, I don’t see most of this shit being rolled back.

It doesn't help that the Governor of NY immediately demanded that every other state give him their Ventilators and Medical Supplies because NYC is the Center of America etc. But don't worry he would surely give some of them back when flyover country becomes infected due to his hordess of fleeing NYC Cockroach people who have deliberately escaped to spread it elsewhere. (worse than the fucking Chinese!). It doesn't help that NYC and the NYC Media Elites have spent all th eyears since 9/11 making it perfectly clear just how much they hate all the "deplorables". It doesn't help that Cuomo threatened to sue and use violent force ("it will be war!") on Governors who sought to prevent or at least temporarily quarantine the hordes of fleeing NYC Bug People. Seattle had a worse start. They took the steps and have been flattening the curve. Other states are doing what needs to be done to slow the spread. Yet the New York Trains are still running and still full.

9/11 was an attack on America as a whole. This however is a disaster everywhere with NYC standing in the middle of it screaming "Me! Me! Me!" and "It's HIS Fault!" pointing fingers every which way.

Maybe Scientology was right all along :cryblood:

Hey now, it's one thing to fantasize about running PLA POWs over with tractors and all the other extremely questionable stuff I've shitposted purely for entertainment value but let's not get crazy here.

Back in October Bill Maher wished for a recession to Trump wouldn't get re-elected

Now he's raging that Trump's approval ratings are up because of an entirely predictable tendency of people to rally around incumbents when a serious external threat appears

Of course, being Maher he has to do his rant in the garden of his expensive-looking house, in an expensive suit and have a camera track him while he walks around, making it clear he's not just propped his phone upon a rock. Fucker probably has a camera crew and a dolly set up. Oh, and make a dismissive comment about how 'trailer parks' always being hit by tornados because the people in them are too poor to a mansion in Beverly Hills and a condo in Catalina. And another dismissive comment about praying.

Can we please have a "Chinese Content" rating, akin to the "Islamic content"?

Perhaps a "Batty" rating?

And to think I was worrying they'd inadvertently receive some patients who'd tested false negative. Like before thinking about malice/idiocy I honestly thought the incubation period was what would fuck those ships up. SMH

Dr. Drew has been trying to scrub this evidence of his smug "just a flu" statements from the internetz. Enjoy:

I heard through the grapevine that our state's version of "FEMA"(*) stockpile was mostly useless. PPE that expired in 2005. Radios and other equipment that are bad because the batteries are 15 fucking years old. Mobile command trucks that haven't moved in a decade.
This was brought years ago with Uncle Sugar 9/11 grants but never maintained because maintenance isn't in the state budget. Never mind the fact we have all these "FEMA" state bureaucrats and managers on the payroll making 100K/yr to do absolutely nothing but push paper and have meetings.

*The state agency is called something else but i can't name it with out power leveling my state.

If you want to live in a shelter-in-place capacity until the risk of pandemic is over, you'll spend the rest of your life in fear of catching the coof. Not wanting to cower in the corner over the possibility of catching a virus for the rest of your life is hardly stupidity.
To be fair, he didn't suggest they were stupid becuase they'd carefully considered the situation and had chosen to go on with things as normal as the best response. He said they hadn't thought of anything past the end of the week.

From the article
Some Navy official said:
Another official pointed out this was why the hospital ship did not want to fill all 1,000 beds on board too quickly because the risk of the virus coming on board is so great.
Or, to paraphrase "THIS IS WHY WE HAVE OUR PROCEDURES YOU DUMB FUCKS!" . I wonder if this fuck up happened before or after they loosened they protocols in reponse to the screeching from the media and ignorant populace?

There's a great Corona icon here

Their reaction he described could have also been them realizing he was a crazy doomer broadcasting from the apocalypse bunker. When someone says "nothing will ever be the same we cant enjoy human activities again because the virus might do something in the future and we take care of old people", they all consider his suggestion and realize the idea that caretakers cant go back to being humans because they care for the infirm as being utterly ludicrous.

His reaction is no different then people in 2002 saying "we'll never be able to fly again because the planes could be full of TURRURISTS". It's just doomer speak, because old people might die, so how dare we think about resuming normal activities after a crisis is over? Anyone who honestly thinks well never be able to enjoy movie theaters or shopping malls or gatherings again because corona exists is honestly pants on head retarded.

So, how long before the rest of America loses patience with New York and decides to leave them to their fate?

Not so much losing patience with New York as simply no longer giving a flying fuck. I've been there for a while. Only one person I know and care about there, and I believe that person's doing well.

Went to the commissary today. Got there well before the 10:30 time for non-active duty. Once again, the garrison commander and his sergeant major were out front ensuring active duty in uniform washed hands before going in, and making sure carts were available.

The more I see this colonel, the more I like him. Energetic, knows his stuff. But he sees the handwriting on the wall and is retiring next year. The Army cannot afford to lose people like him. The colonel said, "When the Army's values no longer align with yours, it's time to leave." Not the same Army he joined. Fully understand. When I retired, it wasn't just not the same service I joined, it wasn't even the same service of ten years prior, when I thought it was damned good.

Virtually no paper products. Did grab a pack of asswipe. Milk, bread, eggs, meat supply good. Dairy product supply adequate. No disinfectant wipes, almost no baby wipes. Marked shortage of spices. Produce supply staying good. Saw cases of Tailored Operational Training Meals (think MRE light) available, maybe some MREs, too. Think I'll get a case of TOTMs when the stimulus check comes, just for shits and grins. Unusually, the potato chip area was lacking. Frito-Lay needs to get on the ball. Got pretty much everything, had to make a couple of substitutions.

Looks like rain and wind coming. Bring on the rain, but can live without the wind. April should be our last month with a real chance of rain. After that, nada meaningful rain until maybe Thanksgiving.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm quite ready to put 2020 in the rear view mirror.

Would be nice if Trump removed Cuomo and put Rudy in charge. I really dislike him but he'd be really good at doing what needs to be done in a crisis.
There is nothing you could do at this point. Doing anything different now would make about as much difference as rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic after it hit the iceberg.

Some of you people are totally paranoid. There's a base risk of death inherent in living. And who knows what happens after death - maybe it'll be more fun than this insipid rat race of making the rent each month.

Random So-Cal Update:
- Like 75% of the people at my suburban grocery store were wearing some sort of mask. They provided disinfectant wipes, which was very nice. There were some holes in the shelves, but the place was looking way more normal than last week. There was still no toilet paper.

- I walked around a local private lake and only passed a handful of people. Everyone is very frustrated by the outdoor closures because *we're supposed to be able to take walks for our health, god-dammit*. (Also, while like 50 people have died in our burb, no one seems to know any of them so there's no emotional pull to counteract the frustration over inconveniences.)

- Someone in Malibu got a ticket for surfing (or body-boarding or something) around the pier. Last week a surfer in Santa Monica got a $1000 ticket for telling off a life guard.

- The next town up the road has mandated masks

- Not CA, but my friend in NY has been told that he has to get out of the city in the next 12 days. They won't tell him why. He says the grocery stores are empty.

Folks, do you REALLY want these shitheads tracking you? REALLY? Fuck, no. Don't get any app "they" want you to get, unless you want it. Also, for the present time advise keeping your cell phone turned off when outside the house unless needed. Keep conversations as short as possible. Have a flip phone which is usually turned off and in my pocket. No app, intermittent signals - hard to track.
I don't think installing the App is relevant. Google/Apple will track you anyway. I've no idea what Palantir do, some Big Data tracking, but I don't know what their inputs are. (Archive of sky news story about tracking)

I admit I have a habit of keeping my phone turned off sometimes anyway, just random geeky paranoia. I certainly had it turned off when I left the house during lockdown. Still took it with me though. I don't know if unmolested modern smartphones can be tracked when "turned off" . I should do, but I don't. All stories where tracking was done are old, and involved NSA messing with the phone.

Not sure what you comment about short conversations is for, seems a bit pointless.

Went out today for a cycle for my governmentally permitted exercise privileges. As before, loads of people out and about walking and cycling. More than usual I'd say. I've probably exposed myself to more virii during that ride than all the previous shopping trips. Can't keep 2m spacing when the other dickheads don't co-operate on a narrow track etc.

A poster earlier said he lived near a gas station (didn't say where), and in his opinion the mood was bad/panicked. The Italian chap who has been locked down much longer also said things are getting stressed. From what I've seen here in m part of England, morale is still high, most people I passed doing social distancing were cheery and enjoying the performance. It can't last for ever, but it's still quite novel, and the weather really is fantastic.

Incoming flea man rant: In my area it's about 50/50 on people taking this shit seriously, and i'm starting to think most of the cautious 50% are mostly an accident.
Truck came in today, and while unloading I did a twisted and sometimes hilarious, sometimes aggressive dance away from people to stock my section while trying to maintain 6 feet distance from people. I will just go ahead and say this - most old n moldies don't give a shit, and will simply stand right next to me and reach over into my space if they need something. Instead of just asking. I jumped away and glared at more than a few people today, and I don't give a shit if they are offended. I don't want this crud on me! Fuck off! and you can't afford to be picky anymore guys. Just grab your shit and get out of my fucking zone. Also, stop taking shit as I'm unloading it and circling like vultures. Go take a walk around the store and come back and get your product when my ass is gone.
Most people are masked now. 2/3 of the store managers obviously don't get the gravity of the situation, as they were palling around with off-duty employees in very close proximity. I'm starting to wonder if the anxiety and potential for infection is even worth keeping my job for ( my wages are kind of shit, and i'm not getting hazard pay. I did get a bonus for around 10 hours work, and i'll take it, but that pales in comparison to what other stores are doing).

TL&DR social distancing - practice it! Have a healthy respect for the workers feeding you and keep your fucking mouthbreathing to yourself! Be careful out in public - there are people who absolutely do not grasp the gravity of this situation and will fuck you up if you are careless and put yourself in harm's way. Stay safe!

Börk news: The Swedish government wants more power to fight the corona virus. https://www.thelocal.se/20200404/sw...more-powers-to-fight-the-coronavirus-pandemicA government that has been handling the corona crisis as well as other crises poorly mostly due to their own and different government agencies' incompetence (and not necessarily legal restrictions) now wants more power. Hmmm...
The Swedecucks were taking a 'just the flu bro' line, which doesn't seem super wise.

So I have a few updates from Canada land to contribute. So I guess on the 6th they are going to attempt to roll out their "stimulus package," to all of the unlucky bastards such as myself that ended up losing their jobs over the Covid-Paniac. Apparently my Chef got a hold of the unemployment office, they where cool, and I guess told him that they're going to be giving $500 a week to everyone until October. These payments are back paid from March 15th, Ontario officially began quarantine measures and lock down back on March 17th. The stimulus package is taxable, and this is going to be their way of "giving a helping hand" to everyone effected by this garbage. The small businesses are unequivocally fucked by this, and I am going to see a lot of empty buildings after all is said and done. Testing is still abysmal and minimal, only 350k or so to date we've actually bothered to test.

The CBC are shilling the narrative of the Libtard government at this point, and seeing the hysteria over the easily fixed PPE problem makes me upset. They are still going to accept the faulty China crap, which I 100% do not trust, and we probably shouldn't even accept it at this point. Local manufacturing is already working on hand santizer, and they are also going to start producing PPE. Luckily where I am located, the factories will be busy, so hopefully this will give a surge to our already crumbled manufacturing sector, so we can tell China to fuck off too and I can get back to work. Only a subset of people are still defending the narrative, and these are the pro-rat king lets not pay our fucking rent crowd trying to police everyone. When I asked certain individuals a couple of months back about this, they all repeated the "it's racist to not want potential sick people" shit.

Trudeau is still skipping out of his house belittling everyone still and making bold threats to our American friends. Fucking libtard Canadians don't understand that America shouldn't be responsible for supplying our PPE, especially in the aspect that the whole country is getting dog fucked right now by the Chink Flu. Our stupid fucking health minister and their cronies are still supporting the WHO and China numbers, because they can't admit that they where wrong about the severity of this virus. Trudeau and his band of commies are making Canadians look bad, and him being the face of this pisses me off more by the day.

The Liberals lost the fucking election, they have a minority government, and that is how come the original shit stimulus proposal ended up getting shot down. I guess the Chink flu is going to wipe out his voting base, because the highest concentrations of this shit still is in majority Liberal places. Trudeau and the ministers 100% lost the propaganda war, and China 100% lost the narrative despite what anyone believes. Majority of people in Canada land are conservative minded, and luckily Ford is premier in Ontario right now, so we have a bit of a fighting chance to curving this thing.
