Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Here a double feature presentation where Timcast in these 2 vlogs NYC will bury Corona-chan deaths in parks and the leftist ideology eating itself thanks to Corona-chan.

You'd be more informed after listening to a hobo under a bridge after giving him magic mushrooms and a twelve pack of Budweiser than the clown college dropout known as Timcast.

If you aren't a self-centered cow and have people you care about that are older you'd be willing to take the hit economy wise for a higher assurance of them staying safe. We can rebuild the economy, you can't bring back the dead. As someone who has mostly older family myself, it's not about the fact that I would likely survive it if I caught it. It's that the only people I really care about have a much higher likelihood of dying.

These aren't just numbers. They aren't just some 60+ people who don't mean anything. A lot of them will be a now broken family struggling through the grief of not even getting to say goodbye, not having a funeral, not being in any way prepared to let these people go. Historically most other major death events still allowed you the comfort of seeing your dead or dying, being with them to end and comforting them and yourself with your presence. Corona doesn't even allow you that because it's magically contagious to the point it's too risky to allow visitors.

If it's not airborne in some fashion how is it spreading? It's moved astoundingly quickly for a something supposedly only spread if you pick up droplets or get a full blow of the too the face.

Even if it's only in droplets you'd think that they'd really start pushing the homemade masks at the very least when out in public even more because if you cough or sneeze unexpectedly into a piece of fabric it would significantly reduce your infectious sprays range and if both you and the un/infected person were masked it would result in it being that much harder for it to get out of their mask, through yours, and into you.

I agree with you 100%. All of these idiot pundits who are like “Older people, go out and save the economy because that’s more important than your life” can get bent.

Of fucking course the economy is important. But the economy can and will take hits and come back strong. Lives that are lost will never come back. Life is infinitely more valuable and irreplaceable than money or stocks ever can be.

My dad is 60 and has underlying health problems, but fortunately he’s able to work from home. But if he did take that stupid advice and try to go out and work “for the economy,” I would tell him to sit his dumb ass down and stay inside. My dad’s life is infinitely more valuable and precious to me than money could ever hope to be; I love him and my mom more than anything and I would do anything to protect them. I‘m sure most people would put their loved ones above money and the economy, too.

I also think it’s funny that the pundits going “muh economy, think of the children” are also usually the same people who argue against student debt relief and measures to protect the environment for future generations. Think of the next generation as long as it doesn’t impact the bottom line, I guess.

Has anyone tried blood transfusions as an approach? I’m going back to that first JAMA case series and looking at the labs. The red cells are wiped out, just nuked. These patients are having an acute crisis, over an hour or two that’s ending up with them on vents and really high pressure is being used, often to no avail.
I wonder if at least part of the issue is the blood side of the equation. Is that rapid decline an acute haemolytic crisis?

Edited to add: bung a few units of O neg into our PM please. It can’t hurt.

Polish numbers: 311 new cases, a mere 7,6% growth, but also a huge drop in daily tests. Whatever, it's still just hiccups after that change in daily reporting. I'm guessing between 350-400 confirmed cases and 6000-7000 tests for tomorrow. But that's not the main point of interest. Everyone was talking about May today.

You see, there's a presidential election coming up. The president is not exactly the most powerful politician in our system, but it's good prestige and if your government is already struggling, he can fuck you up for good with constant vetoes. So the government really wants a quick election because their guy is well liked and most likely to win. Most opposition parties really don't want the election because they will get their asses handed to them. Regardless of intentions, having people crowded around ballot boxes is suboptimal in these conditions, so the current idea is to have a mass mail-in vote, citing Bavaria as a recent example. This promises to be a guaranteed failure; the national post office can't handle the task and many people will refuse to participate because they think holding this election is a threat to democracy. Alternatives being floated so far include proclaiming a state of natural disaster which would postpone any elections potentially indefinitely, or amending the constitution to extend the presidential term. Go figure.

Shame about BoJo, I hope he can recover but I hear prognosis is poor once you're on intensive care.

Alright since I've had the pleasure of working in the ED again (yay)

First you have people whose cc is atypical of uris, which is why I think so many front-line workers are getting infected. Syncope head lac, tingling in extremities, fatigue, all symptoms of hypoxia w/o SOB or other s/s of uris. So no cough or runny nose or anything that might scream droplet precautions.

There was one paper I read where SARS-CoV-2 could potentially knock out heme from erythrocytes, which might be the underlying cause of hypoxic symptoms w/o SOB.

Second these patients decompensate quick as fuck and need flO2 to eventual vent. I've seen this rarely with viral pneumonia rt influenza but it's actually pretty fucking common with COVID-19 pts. It's honestly pretty fucking scary.

Wtf is this overtly emotional tripe? While yes, money and stocks are part of the economy, so are other things. Jobs, material, production, supply. That's what most people are worried about when they say 'economy'.

The economy is tied to all aspects of life in the US. If it collapsed, we collapse. Then people die. Many more than if a virus runs its course.

Sometimes economy and life go hand in hand. Some people have to still go out and maintain it for everyone.

I approve of this post, but only because it aligns with my own Chaotic Evil alignment.

New normal. You may now kiss the bride. Do not remove your respirator.

Add to that our PM's opinion from today that we'll hit the peak of epidemics in May or possibly June. I wish they just followed Orban's example to cut the chaos, especially since our ruling party loves to cite Hungary as a role model.

Tomorrow our state legislators go into session to decide how much longer our state of emergency will last. Various precautions will be taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus among them.

One of our state legislators, Karen Whitsett, (D-Detroit) has been confirmed positive, and has been self-isolating for some time now. She is recovering, and credits Trump and hydroxychloroquine for her recovery
[Edit to clarify: She's a state representative, not a federal one.]

Ever seen anyone with really, really bad favism? It’s rare in the states maybe? (If I’m being paranoid and raving in front of my trello board, there’s your italian connection...)
If they’re having the combination of an acute haemolytic crisis plus pneumonia, That’s a double whammy. Haemolytic crisis with less lung damage= the ones with normal lung sounds and low spO2. Both together are the ones in deep trouble.

Have you tried just shoving a few units into any of them, and following up with iron and folic acid? - could be justified if RBCs are really low.

Detroit rep not inflicted with TDS? Well I'll be damned...

Video Archives April '5

In an earlier post, I mentionned how long before someone said Corona-chan is racist? Well, it's happened from a post I read on this forum.

Btw, that guy nicknamed Black Hammer, I wonder how he'll react if karma bites him back just like it did to XXXTentacion?

Based and Amishpilled.

He be feeling pretty silly right now with all the praise for China in that manifesto.

For the same reason the media were going on about test kits about a week ago - it's a single factor they can latch on to. And like repeating predictions from models they don't understand, it's easy to package as "news"

I haven't been here for 2 weeks and most of what I can see is doomposting.
The normie class are getting desperate. All according to plan. Soon, they'll beg us to save them.

The medias begin to call a spoon a spoon and they call the Wuhan biolab, the possible origin of Corona-chan. If the MSM try to save their faces, it's a bit too little too late.

and remember
