Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

, however when China and other shithole countries are either lying or unable to fully test for cases it's clear that the true extent of this pandemic and it's repercussions are still unknowable.
Italy, Spain, France, SK, have been doing effective testing for almost a month and even then the cases are starting to go down.

It vanishing so quickly is taking people by surprise, It was supposed to stick around until october.

Please explain, in detail, how a betacoronavirus of the Bat SARS variety is in any way, shape, or form related to influenza.

SARS had a case fatality rate approaching 17%. MERS was even worse. These viruses are vicious killers, and we have exceptional people everywhere saying that it's just the flu, that it's nothing.

There were numerous papers that stated that they found SARS in people's brains after the 2003 outbreak. It causes profound neurological symptoms, not just minor ones like influenza.

SARS-CoV-2 is highly neuroinvasive.

I have discussed this with numerous PhDs, including Dr. Todd Rider, Dr. Kevin McCairn, and a few others, and they all agreed that I was on the right track.

So, what is the larger point here?

We got it ... It looks like COVID has some pretty nasty complications.

What can WE (random people on the farms) actually DO with that information?

Like years ago the anti-smoking campaign was very effective. Stop smoking, stop damaging your lungs.

Same with seatbelts. Wear a seatbelt, and don't turn into a scrambled egg when you collide on the highway.

But what solutions do you envision, regarding COVID?

My take?

Funny but true. This is a cold hard fact on who, what, and how people in society.... influencers, ignorant people are dealing with the pandemic.

And many of then given a choice. I'll use this old but true Chinese adage to vent out my frustration on the whole affair. It goes like this...

"It takes thousands of dollars and years of wasted time to put a convicted killer to death.
But in China it only takes a few hours and a 50 cent bullet to do the same."

I going to put up the mantra later on what to do about this pandemic as it seems there are new people on this topic. I have to go out to plague ville and deal with things.

Just Remember...

CHINA STEALS...
CHINA EATS EVERYTHING...

Michigan, USA

Michigan update: Today, got the statistic I was waiting for out of one of the local papers:
"By race, African Americans account for 33% of the state's confirmed cases and 41% of deaths. Caucasians account for 23% of the cases and 28% of deaths. " Last census was like 14 and 78% respectively. So it's hitting the hood hard.
You can keep up to date on the state government's official racial stats here, but remember that 87% of our deaths are still in the tri-county area (25% Black), half of those are in Wayne County (38%), and half of those are in the city limits (77%), so the disparity may or may not be as big as those stats would imply. We don't know for sure, because Wayne County and Detroit City aren't reporting racial stats.

Our legislators have decided to grant Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) extended emergency powers until April 30. Our shutdown order has not (yet) been extended, but I personally suspect it will be.

Not everyone was in attendance, although both the House and Senate achieved a quorum.
Only lawmakers, the presiding officer and essential staff were present on the floor at any given time, and many wore face masks and gloves. In the House, lawmakers came in one at a time to take attendance in a chamber that holds well over 100 people on a normal session day...
...several protesters were present to share their concerns about the ongoing stay-at-home order.
Toting signs bearing messages like “More will die from economic fallout than COVID-19!” and “My freedom is essential," members of the group walked around in front of the Capitol, keeping social distancing with the help of measuring tape.

A bipartisan group of our state senators are working on a plan to gradually reopen businesses. They hope to have this plan submitted by Friday, April 17. Our shut-down is currently scheduled to expire on Monday, April 13.

In other news, the warm winter and early spring are expected to bring an increase in the tick and ant population. Ants will be especially helped by the increase in people eating at home, leaving more crumbs for them to eat.

Rando question, even if there are medications that help people survive the WuFlu, isn't there some kind of reinfection drama I've been seeing Jim/Metokur chimp out about on Twitter? I know he's a faggy doomer boomer, but are we analyzing reinfection yet?

Oh great. Even more excuses for those insects to start killing more cats.
Not really. There's no evidence that humans will get it. The study is still very useful.
Also, many cats carry antibody to Coronachan, forgot to include that.
Hopefully those unsavoury slants won't hunt stray cats to extinction just to eat them for the antibody. Or as the CTM saying goes "eat what you lack 缺啥補啥".

In all seriousness though, guys, please keep your cats safe too. The little critter doesn't deserve coronachan.

There has been a select few of reinfections and symptomless Coronachan carriers in China.
It can almost be attributed to China's shitty equipment, or rather we all suck at diagnosing for Coronachan at the moment, refer to my previous post: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/wuhan-coronavirus-megathread.65421/post-6255783

Hope Jim kept Jade in a cage.

Here's your usual Polish numbers: +435/+22 (the first time we've had over 20 people die over one day). Almost half of that 435 is from the Mazovian voivodeship again. The place has one eighth of the total population but one fourth of all known cases, and I have it on good authority that a nurse from the area brought the virus to a hospital near where my parents live. Hope we can wall the place off before they decide to share even more of their overabundance with less afflicted areas.

Now, there's a total of 4848 confirmed cases and according to a morning report, 151 of them are currently on ventilation. If we account for the 129 people who died so far and assume that most (if not all) also required ventilation before passing away, we get anywhere from 5 to 6% people sick enough to need intensive care. Sounds consistent with what I've heard elsewhere. Bear in mind that we don't have the capacity to carry out mass testing and only check people with clear symptoms and medical personnel.

In the meantime I've heard latest news from France and it's rather staggering. 1400 people dead in a single day? The hell is going on over there?

I searched Litzman and relevant phrases in Hebrew as well, also found nothing that way, although I don't pretend to know every synonym for 'homosexuality' in Hebrew. Eskimos and snow and all that.

They just conflated two random yids. Very antisemitic from the faggots at Pink News, the ADL should investigate.

I'm a little confused on how the virus spreading further through the air than 6 feet is suddenly big news. Weren't there several studies about this back in February, maybe even January? What changed?

It's just weird to me that half the time this stuff hits main stream media I keep thinking "wait, this is new information? Didn't we know this awhile ago?". It just seems hinky to me.

It's like when they were still saying "no person to person transmission!" when it couldn't make any sense for that to be true based on how much it had spread at that point.

Doc.......Are you okay? Not feeling ill are you?
Normally you are the one posting trash, like that time you couldn't understand western media doesn't post the names and pictures of sexual assault victims and thought it was a CIA plot.

The rest of the world is at least 2 months behind the thread.
Including the whiners here that can't be bothered to read it and just complain about how fast it's moving.

More conspiracy theory time:

We wuz Covid....

Just looking at how she badly wears her PPE tells me exactly what sort of “health care professional” she is, or rather isn’t. Note the hair cap. Note the vast quantities of hair not and never has been inside said cap. I’m gonna go with Housekeeping or Food Service.

Trump got rid of the stimulus overseer and replaced him with an EPA lackey.

It compares this with him ousting the asshole who kicked off the impeachment stupidity, so I am not sure if it's as bad as they make it out to be. @It's HK-47 Do you have anything on Mr. Fine?

At this point we may have to admit it wasn't the fags God was mad at.

He was pissed off we let the Chinese exist.
Why not both?

Not really weird, for all the bluster the MSM likes putting up, they're usually the LAST to know any actual good information (or maybe they just take a while to spin all the news to some relevant agenda). I mean just look at the Articles subthread to see how outdated shit like salon/vice/cnn/idc are.

If you're of a darker complexion you should take a bit more time in the sun if you can
All the areas in the uk with populations who have the women covered up have cases of rickets. How fucking depressing is that? Fucking rickets, as if two centuries of public health progress just never happened. Welcome to cultural enrichment, which will be prioritised over child health and dignity. If you mention the rickets or the child deaths and birth defects and morbidity from inbreeding your career will be on the line. Have a nice day. Don’t mention the veils
And in 4 weeks you'll have countries opening back up for business.
I think they will have to. What happens then is unknown. There will be spikes in infection but how big is unclear.

The distinction between droplets and aerosols isn’t hard and fast. At the ends of the spectrum tthey behave quite differently but really, aerosols are small drops and drops are big aerosols. It’s an artificial distinction that fails to accurately model the real world. But textbooks like it, and the WHO is stuck on it. Ditto person to person spread - these things are tick box criteria, like the exact point you call something a pandemic. When do you do that? The answer seems to be when the number of people dying outweighs the pain of the Chinese gripping your balls...

what all this should show you us that the WHO (with a few bits of it as notable exceptions) are not fit for purpose, they’re shills for the CCP have fine more harm than good here, and that our understanding of this disease is in its infancy. The WHO were and still are determined to tick or untick those boxes and put out the information that corresponds, even if doing so and being wrong would be catastrophic.

We dont know where we are with this disease because we took the Chinese at their word when they said it was ARDS as the primary symptom. Now maybe it’s not. We took their word for it when they gave us death rates. That was unwise.
What happens now depends on multiple factors.

- worst case scenario: we are at the beginning of the epidemic. Not many asymptomatic cases, and the bulk of the population is yet to be infected. Outcome: widespread death once lockdowns are lifted, or widespread death as everyone gets infected anyway. Bonus points for mutation to a more severe form. Africa and the third world hit hard. Deaths: tens of millions. Economic damage severe.

-best case scenario: we are further along the curve than we think. Huge number of asymptomatic cases mean the death rate is lower than expected. Increasing numbers of immune means lower r0 and it fizzles out. Bonus points for mutation to a milder form. Bonus points for a milder first wave having already swept through last/early this year rendering many immune to this strain. Deaths: few hundred k.

we need testing. Testing is the big gap in our understanding of spread. Testing would show us who is immune, and percentage infection at one point in time, and how percentage immune and infected is changing. If you think of all those factors as inputs in a model - the r0, mortality, %immune, %infected. They are all guesses, as as you probably learned in school, when it comes to models, it’s garbage in, garbage out.

Israel health minister, who claims coronavirus is ‘divine punishment’ for homosexuality, tests positive for COVID-19

Yaakov Litzman, health minister for Israel, has tested positive for COVID-19 after just last month saying that the virus was “punishment” for homosexuality.
According to The Times of Israel, Litzman, 71, has been accused of violating his own ministry’s guidelines on social distancing in order to continue to attend prayer services.
As well as being Israel’s health minister, he also leads the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party and witnesses said he was seen praying at the home of another member of his sect three days after indoor services were banned.

His own department’s guidelines became stricter, barring prayer services altogether, but Litzman was later seen attending a service at a synagogue near his home.
He and his wife Chava have now contracted COVID-19, and as a result of recent contact with him, Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several other top government officials have been forced to self-isolate for 15 days.
His office has denied all accusations that Litzman broke his own social distancing rules.

Last month, speaking about the origins of COVID-19, the health minister said: “It’s a divine punishment against homosexuality.”

In 2016, Yaakov Litzman voted against allowing same-sex civil unions, same-sex couples adopting, educating health professionals about gender identity and sexual orientation, prohibiting conversion therapy and giving same-sex partners of killed soldiers the same the benefits as opposite-sex couples. On the same day he said that LGBT+ people were “sinners”.

Last week, asked if lockdown restrictions would be lifted before Easter, he said: “We pray and hope that the Messiah will arrive before Easter, the time of our redemption.

“I am sure that the Messiah will come and take us out as God took us out of Egypt. We will soon be free and the Messiah will come and save us from all the world’s troubles.”

The Israel health minister has now added his name to a ridiculously long list of bigots who have capitalised on the coronavirus crisis by blaming it on LGBT+ people, including an Iraqi cleric, an Israeli rabbi, several Muslim leaders of Ghana, an evangelical preacher, another evangelical preacher, yet another preacher, and Trump’s own bible studies teacher.

Stay at home to stop coronavirus spreading - here is what you can and can't do. If you think you have the virus, don't go to the GP or hospital, stay indoors and get advice online. Only call NHS 111 if you cannot cope with your symptoms at home; your condition gets worse; or your symptoms do not get better after seven days. In parts of Wales where 111 isn't available, call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47. In Scotland, anyone with symptoms is advised to self-isolate for seven days. In Northern Ireland, call your GP.
Guy was a fucking faggot obviously.

Spanish politics are generally pretty inept. Sorry. But it is kind of true.

Twas ever thus it would seem.

In any war, historians tend to look for the heroes. They rarely consider the possibility that there were no heroes, that all of the sides were fighting for tyranny. Thus, many historians of the Russian Civil War single out the Mensheviks, even though detailed investigation reveals that their differences with the Bolsheviks were relatively slight. In the same way, historians of the Spanish Civil War who rightly regard the Fascists and Communists as totalitarians often try to cast the Spanish Anarchists as the heroes of the struggle. In fact, the Spanish Anarchists were ultimately just a third faction of totalitarians
