The Trump administration and the GOP would have us get sick and die while they profit off of tax dollars.

Want to know how it works?

1.) Eliminate oversight of the spending of nearly a trillion dollars of tax dollars: https://thehill.com/regulation/cour...lus-opens-new-front-in-trumps-oversight-fight

2.) Aquire the authority to command which businesses get which contracts: https://youtu.be/MlQx7Qs2ACI

3.) Have trusted people stand up companies through which the money can be funneled (3 week old company, founded through a loan approved via the Coronavirus Stimulus bill, is now the center of medical supply distribution): https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/27/republican-fundraiser-company-coronavirus-152184 “I don’t want to overstate, but we probably represent the largest global supply chain for Covid-19 supplies right now,” he said. “We are getting ready to fill 100 million-unit mask orders.”

4.) Have the federal government sell, at a reduced price, it’s strategic stockpile to the new companies, run by your buddies: https://twitter.com/DavidBegnaud/status/1245841458323771393

5.) Have the states bid on the supplies, driving up the price: https://youtu.be/2zeEUs7tcpE

6.) Have the federal government spend taxpayer dollars to ship supplies purchased from China to these brand new private companies: https://www.npr.org/sections/corona...witter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_term=nprnews

7.) Eliminate the competition. Attack any company that doesn’t play ball. https://mothership.sg/2020/04/trump-3m-10-million-masks/

Edit 2: electric boogaloo

Congress and the Supreme Court aren’t going to do shit. Neither is Biden or the DNC. We need another Battle of Athens.

Fun fact: the position with the highest constitutional power is your county sheriff. They have the ability to block feds from entering and leaving the county. A few did this back during the whole “extraordinary rendition” thing whenever that was.

I would pen an email, letter and call to your county sheriff citing sources and your concerns of the feds taking your hospitals supplies. I just thought of this replying to you and I will be doing this tomorrow. We need sheriffs and deputies guarding our hospitals from the feds.

Yeah, I know. He's a piece of shit. In fact in my more cynical moments I think it's some sort of plot to have him as 'the voice of the ordinary conservative' on talkRADIO. Most people will look at him and think 'Eww'. He makes the right look bad and that is even more treasonous than the Guardian trying to whip up hysteria among its already hysterical audience of cat ladies, trannies and cat trannies.

My ideological opponents don't produce the level of bile in me that quislings and traitors to my own do. I don't even think he's Right Wing per se. He's just a very nasty, well-off bigot who thinks he has a home with the Right because he attacks the Left. He's the twat who is in your social group somehow and then tries to start fights in the pub because he thinks you're forced to defend him. One of those weak little remoras who attaches itself to the biggest sharks and thinks its found a home.

Sorry - I have an especial contempt for him above almost all other public figures and cannot help but sperg.

Here's an interesting bunch of graphs from a Finnish epidemiologist, he's comparing the virus stats of Scandinavian and some neighboring countries:
This graphs shows deaths per million people, Ruotsi is Sweden:
View attachment 1220330
As some of you know, Sweden has been pretty lax with restrictions and lockdowns, we'll see how this situation develops, but it's not looking good for them.

I ran the numbers (based on the map by Johns Hopkins University):
USA: 192.73 deaths per million
Spain: 311.52
Italy: 284.21
France: 154.39
Germany: 24.28
Sweden: 66.52

I feel like whatever support the lockdowns have would be quickly eroded by having people forcibly removed from their homes. Or maybe not. Some of the comments to this are story are from people complaining this doesn't go far enough. Perhaps we could could put people with coronavirus in some kind of camp to make sure they get some fresh air.

Yeah, then you'll start seeing Chinese-style videos as parents are pulled out of their homes, with their children screaming. Might even see people resisting with force.

These aren't lockdowns, these are house arrests. WAY past time to rationalize these house arrests. We know where the hot spots are. Just lock them down, with a buffer zone. Let people go back to work, living their lives, etc.

The longer these house arrests go, the more they turn political instead of health-related. Politicians are doing this just to cover their asses and demonstrate to the animals they believe we are who is in charge. Using common sense never occurs to these politicians. And it will be the American people who pay for all this.

"We're all in this together". Bullshit. It's the usual "them" who shove their rules up our asses, and "us" who have to put up with the rules, or find ways around them.

@EmuWarsVeteran your updates from Spain have been incredible. It's so hard to get accurate information out of there, even market reports are turning out to be skewed.

Something I'm really curious about is immunity. There's more than a few people who believe Spain's health system is going to be the source of information on who may actually be immune to this.

Is that something you can talk about? Is anyone talking about natural immunity and any factors that may be involved?

I'm in cadiz which has been mostly spared so I have little direct intel. When it comes to natural immunity if it exists we sure as shit haven't spotted them yet. It seems no one's truly safe so far. But of course we could be missing something. We got a ton of scientists archiving wvery little detail but so far our bureaucrats are running around like headless chickens so it's hard to actually put the data in one place, we'll get a detail breakdown, eventually... but first they gotta know what the fuck they have, and with most scientists also being focused into testing treatments and making tests, well, organization is a mess of cataclysmic proportions.

From the data we do have though, it's basically the flu but stronger. I can't tell you about some of the weirder symptoms other kiwis talked about in lethal cases. I did send your intel to my colleagues but I haven't gotten answer yet. They probably know about it on the more affected areas so when they answer I'll leak. But in most cases it's just the same symptoms as flu, the issue is just how many severe cases pop up simultaneously, and it doesn't seem to be due to higher severity, but indeed higher spread. Quite simply, from the 2 hospital outbreaks I've seen, the ones I heard about, and the fuckup with the residences I can tell you, this thing spreads REALLY FUCKING EASY and REALLY FUCKING FAR. One day you have 1 infected, next 50. This many sick healthcare workers this fast every single outbreak isn't fucking normal. And how fast it went from hospitals to residences is fucking terrifying. It's the superflu, plain and simple, healthy people isn't 100% safe but so long as they take care of the cytokine storm and go to the hospital if they start getting severe symptoms most are fine, old risk groups are fucked, and everything inbetween is mostly the same except for the possible cardiobasculary factor. It doesn't seem to reinfect, it mutates slower than expected which is good but it did prove zoonotic and temperature seems not to matter to it outside of extreme climates in rural areas, which means it's likely to become a seasonal virus.

The captain didn't go full exceptional individual. Have you ever commanded troops? I have, just not as many as that captain. He didn't take this action lightly. There are things the captain knew that we don't know. If this was wartime, as the captain said, you suck it up and get it done. But this is peacetime. No need to let your crew get sick and perhaps lose some. Takes a long time and costs a lot of money to initially train a nuclear power specialist, or a fighter pilot, and even longer to get them fully operational, for example. In wartime, if you lose that pilot or that nuclear power specialist, that's sad, but that's part of war. No need to unnecessarily lose anyone in peacetime.
Are you going to provide an argument that isn't "crew cheer, open and shut"? You already made up your mind as soon as you saw a video of some crew cheering and then went on a Bidenesque meander about how you know a guy and dagnabbit he outta have stars and something about "not my Army anymore". What. Situation. Was. The. Captain. In? Crew were being moved off ship, confirmed patients were getting flown out, he'd apparently spoken directly to Modly and didn't express urgency days before he fired off the letter. Then, as if to drive how terrified and concerned his crew were of the virus they...crowded together shoulder to shoulder to send him off?

I'm sorry, I just don't have unflinching faith and belief in the elicitation of an emotional response like that. Until more information comes, "crew pack together amid deathly fear of virus" is not convincing on its own.

"Fighting" the virus is deeply offensive! Naturally it's a Labour MP vomiting this drivel onto the internet.

Hope is "toxic" to these people.

Explains a lot of the shit Trump is getting as well.

It's interesting how Trump handled the Crozier/Modly spat

President Donald Trump criticized the former commander of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier on Tuesday, shortly after the acting Navy secretary, who fired the commander, resigned from his post.

"The whole thing was very unfortunate," Trump said to reporters during a press conference.

Trump, referring to the commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, added that he "didn't have to be Earnest Hemingway" by writing an urgent letter warning about the coronavirus aboard his ship, which was eventually leaked to the news media.

"He made a mistake, but he had a bad day," Trump added about Capt. Brett Crozier. "I hate seeing bad things happen, man made a mistake. But you shouldn't be writing letters, and you're in the military — you're a captain of a great ship."

Trump said acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly acted responsibly by resigning from his post, which was accepted by senior Defense Department officials.

"I had heard he did because he didn't want to cause any disturbance for our country because he didn't want to resign," Trump said, referring to Modly. "I wouldn't have asked him. I don't know him. I didn't speak to him. But he did that I just think to end that problem. And in really many ways, that was a really unselfish thing for him to do."

Couldn't put it better myself really. Crozier screwed up by circulating the letter outside the chain of command but 'he'd had a bad day'. Trump wouldn't have fired Modly but he did commend him for his 'really unselfish act' in stepping down.

USNI article with captures of all the resignation letters

https://web.archive.org/save/https:...ignation-amidst-carrier-roosevelt-controversy

This is actually a really interesting situation - those sailors applauding Crozier seemed to imply that, horror of horrors, a mutiny wasn't out of the question. Clearly, Modly had to go. Especially after this speech.

Acting Navy Secretary Thomas B. Modly addressed the crew of the aircraft carrier on Monday afternoon via the ship’s internal loudspeaker system. In a profane and defensive address that one crew member described in an interview as “whiny, upset, irritated, condescending,” Modly took repeated shots at the integrity of Capt. Brett E. Crozier, who was removed from command last week, and eventually injected partisan political tones into the address by attacking former Vice President Joe Biden, who has repeatedly criticized Crozier’s removal.

Modly’s visit to the aircraft carrier, which is currently pierside in the U.S. territory of Guam, followed the firing on Thursday of Crozier after an email he wrote seeking further help for his stricken crew was leaked to The San Francisco Chronicle.

Modly said Crozier was “too naïve or too stupid to be a commanding officer” if he thought that letter wasn’t going to leak. “The alternative is that he did this on purpose,” Modly added.

They should do some Starship Troopers shit like have Modly's replacement bust Crozier down to private for leaking the letter and tipping the Bugs off to a possible military weakness but then putting him back in charge of the ship because he's shown he cares about his men. Which, looking at it, means they'd have to make him a Captain again.

"70% of deaths from coronavirus in Louisiana are black people"
"6x the amount of whites"

Maybe this is because of their lifestyle? Hell no, it must be blatant racism right here, folks.
It makes me happy seeing that much pushback against the story on that video's comments and ratings. This must be frustrating to the media -- too many people are mouthing off and talking back for them to just "shut it down." They can disable comments & ratings, but people notice that and will realize why they've done it.

So... all I'm getting is that they are trying to work within the framework of the system America has been built on. These companies cannot and should not be expected to give these supplies away, that destroys the nation. They are allowed to continue making money for producing goods with the equipment that they have invested years into. But guess what, it's a global emergency and our people are dying; the national-level government has the bigger picture in view and is going to have to ask/tell some entities to do things that they need to do, especially those that have this idea that they don't need to play ball right now.

Furthermore, to ensure that supplies are going out to places with the most-need and to ensure that gouging isn't getting out of control, what? A new corporation was created with a clean slate for the express purpose of dealing with this situation, funded with cash from a program aimed at stimulating the response to aforementioned situation. The government stockpiles at the national level are being utilized and sent to these companies (at a discount! OH MY GOD!!) in order to get the ball rolling and reduce lag time in order to help people. Which is what the national government is supposed to do in times of duress.

At the state level (Federalism!) the various governors/state bodies are able to place bids for supplies and compete in a market for what they need. All the while with the national level government offering help but in a more measured and picky fashion because the national government can see the larger picture and has to do its own form of triage. This also ensures a healthy marketplace for these supplies after we hit peak and after the virus starts going away. They will want to continue using this system in perpetuity, I would imagine. And I doubt any US state wants to be unprepared for the next time this happens, so they had better get used to how this system works. We already know some states completely abdicated this duty and were not prepared at all.

And as far as eliminating competition, I say this: the Defense Production Act has been activated and it was done so in the nicest way possible. The Executive Branch gave these companies plenty of time to wrap up existing deals and to begin shifting production. This is a real emergency, they are going to have to play ball in some capacity. Some of them amazingly still chose to act as belligerents. No shit they're going to get sidelined and crushed. You are an American company that reaps the benefits of the American taxpayer? Help or die, because we need the taxpayers more than we need Company A or Company B.

Also the first sentence name dropped Trump and the GOP. If I was a bigger ass I'd simply say that was the disqualifying factor for the argument. And all the shit about people being "buddies" with people in government... yeah no fucking shit. These people know each other. That's how business and politics works. That's how everything fucking works. This does not immediately imply corruption. It's not a bad thing if some high level official can call up Ron and get the idea in his head that he's going to have to retool some of his production line. That is much more effective than a hostile negotiation or outright coercion.

Lastly, is there corruption taking place? Yeah most definitely. That always happens too. Are we really going to play that game? Because we can just blow up everything if that's the hill we want to die on.

Rebuttal.
The author is a tard who doesn't know the fundamentals of how the Executive is separate from and equal to the entire Congress.
Congress doesn't get to make operational (day to day) decisions on the functions, they get to pass laws.
