To put this fully in perspective. The New York epicenter has now shifted out onto Long Island. Suffolk County. The Eastern half of LI. How or why you may ask? Well even with his dailly press conferences, his crying and demanding every ventilator in the nation. Etc. Cuomo never bothered to shut down the trains. The LIRR runs packed trains in and out of the CV filled city. Day in day out. Most of NYPD is infected. They live out on LI. Cuomo did nothing to restrict the travel into and out of the virus areas. And he owns it 100%. The Railroads. LIRR and MTA are his. Not NYC's. Not the Counties. We've seen pictures of the insanity that is the trains in the middle of a pandemic. Minor LA Suburb Update:
- Everyone is bored out of their minds. The police were called into a domestic abuse case involving family members punching each other over missing toilet paper.
- Idiots keep calling the cops on people they see outside doing stuff they feel is breaking rules. Someone was trying to get daycares (limited to kids of essential workers) shut down because the toddlers weren't wearing masks or practicing social distancing.
- Mask laws are ramping up all over the place. The paranoid people are all in favor of more laws, more masks, and nobody ever going outdoors again.
- Apparently this is the worst week to go grocery shopping so we should all not go out. Two weeks ago they told us to only stock up for two weeks, so people are fussing.
- The LA Mayor is the greatest and "doesn't he look good on camera" and he should probably run for president.
- Lots of people in LA are in an absolute panic about rent. This will increase as the end of the second month gets closer. (Our rents are crazy high and even with the eviction freeze, paying back rent is going to kill everyone.)
- My friend in NYC has left and gone home to his parents. (He's really young and just moved there and I support his decision)
- My friend in AZ says everybody there assumes the virus will die with the hot summer.

That's about it. Some more people died but overall, CA seems to be handling this well. I still don't know anybody sick, but some friends do.

A Derbyshire councillor has apologised for saying the prime minister “completely deserves this” after his admission to an intensive care unit.

Sheila Oakes, the mayor of Heanor, had the whip withdrawn by the Amber Valley Labour group after making the comments in response to a Facebook post about the news. While she is no longer a Labour councillor, she can sit as an independent politician.

Underneath a post asking people to say a “little prayer” for Boris Johnson on Monday night, Oakes wrote: “Sorry, he completely deserves this and he is one of the worst PMs we’ve ever had.”

On Tuesday, she told the BBC she was sorry “for upsetting people and saying it”.

“I didn’t think what I said would upset so many people. It came across as not a nice thing to say,” she said. “I’m concerned about nurses and doctors who don’t have protective equipment. I said something when I was angry without thinking about the prime minister or his family.”

The leader of Amber Valley Labour group, Chris Emmas-Williams, told the broadcaster there would be an investigation into Oakes’ conduct.

“This behaviour is totally unacceptable and not what the Labour party are about,” he said. “I’ve not made the comments, but I feel as leader of the Labour group I have to apologise as well to Boris Johnson and his family, and we wish him well because we need everyone possible to fight this disease.”

She'll stay as Mayor until the next election as an independent and then Labour will run someone against her, presumably Williams or one of his cronies, and then she'll have no job, no office, no party, and no friends. All for saying this on FB

The South Korean solution to the COVID-19 virus (widespread testing and the hydroxychloroquine-zinc cure) is beginning to work in the United States. Americans, like South Koreans, will soon be back at work and school. But at Monday's Coronavirus Task Force press briefing, Dr. Anthony Fauci ignored the success.
Instead, he pretended that the only way the U.S. could get back to normal was through vaccines and new therapies. He was responding to a question directed to him, and him only, by reporter Jonathan Karl at the 37:37 mark of this video:

Karl: Will we truly get back to normal before there’s a vaccine available to everybody?...

Fauci: … I believe with the therapies that will be coming online, with the fact that I feel confident that over a period of time we will get a good vaccine, that we will never have to get back to where we are right now. So, if that means getting back to normal, then we’ll get back to normal.

Fauci was being disingenuous. His own organization NIAID (one of the institutes of NIH) is slow walking both therapies and vaccines. For example, NIAID is currently conducting a study on the effectiveness of Remdesivir, a drug which, along with chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, proved effective against COVID-19 in the Chinese test-tube studies. Here's NIAID's schedule for completing Phase 3 of its approval process:

• Actual Study Start Date: February 2, 2020
• Estimated Primary Completion Date: April 1, 2023
• Estimated Study Completion Date: April 1, 2023

Believe it or not, that is not a misprint! Fauci was touting new therapies even while his own organization was slow walking the most promising of them so that it would not be ready until 2023!

I agree it’s a good idea to wait for the facts to come out, but the fact remains that Trump has repeatedly fired people from independent federal watchdog groups and doesn’t seem to be taking the importance of having an overseer seriously.

I also do not have faith in Trump’s choices for his own candidates, given his track record. That’s why I want the overseer of this relief fund to be someone with a good track record who doesn’t have ties to the current administration.

New article popped up on our county rag - a hospital in the area will be one of two running clinical trials for a new anti-viral COVID-19 treatment called Remdesivir that disrupts RNA replication.

We've only had two hospitalizations reported with pretty good isolation practices in place and I don't know if those people are even still hospitalized, so I'm not sure who they're supposed to be trying it out on. I can't help but notice that their critique never goes any deeper than that either, which always makes my eyebrow go flying up because outside of Mainland China, the rest of the world doesn't have a visceral, knee-jerk reaction to hearing "Falun Gong" because they aren't demonized anywhere else. If the Epoch Times is such a horrible newspaper then where's all the evidence of it? Where's the stories they've fucked up, where's the stories they had to retract?

Just go look at the front page right now. All of the stories that they're presenting look perfectly normal and they're not dripping with partisanship that goes one way or the other. They can even write about Trump without veering off into seething hate or boot-licking praise. It could easily be argued that a lot of the stories that they put out are particularly critical of the Chinese Government, but that's probably less to do with them being Falun Gong and more to do with that being the general opinion of anyone who isn't drinking stupid juice.

How is it that the only "criticism" ever laid at their feet is "they're Falun Gong devils reeee" as if that's supposed to be a compelling argument to anyone who isn't living in some concrete shack in the middle of Beijing?

Hmm not sure if any of the other more medically inclined Kiwi's have noticed this finding about this disease probably not being what everyone is thinking it is. An anecdotal account from a NYC doctor DOES IT CAUSE ARDS? This could somewhat explain the lack of effectiveness of the respirators, where there is that 50% failure rate when the patients are put on the respirator. So if anything we are beginning to see some creditably to some of the hydroxychloroquine treatments where there is that time window of reduction in the virus in the early stages. There is actually outside of the popular trump drug, some research being done on Ivermectin another anti-viral that has some effectiveness on reducing COVID replication 24-48 hours after the virus has been introduced. No clinical trials have been done with that finding, but some researchers in Australia have conducted this research.

Hemoglobin study if anyone would like to check it out, there could be some validity to this finding. Especially if we find out that the oxygen deprvation isn't being caused by the pneumonia, rather the pneumonia is just another side effect from what is going on actually with in the blood. Some AI tools that have been developed AI Tool that predicts COVID complications Doomer Boomer Jim shared the smoking link of a lower hospital admission of smokers in China in the early Wuhan studies. So there could be some credibility to the blood disease angle after all, that if anything ARDS is only the last effect that is had once full respiratory failure has been set in. Again, I am not a doctor only a control systems technologist student. These are just some interesting findings of the day, stay safe Kiwis!

My take?

Funny but true. This is a cold hard fact on who, what, and how people in society.... influencers, ignorant people are dealing with the pandemic.

And many of then given a choice. I'll use this old but true Chinese adage to vent out my frustration on the whole affair. It goes like this...

"It takes thousands of dollars and years of wasted time to put a convicted killer to death.
But in China it only takes a few hours and a 50 cent bullet to do the same."

I going to put up the mantra later on what to do about this pandemic as it seems there are new people on this topic. I have to go out to plague ville and deal with things.
