It's called the "bio-social theory" and says that if you're genetically predisposed to be a "Highly Sensitive Person", and you then go through childhood trauma, and have unstable relationships to your parents or an environment that frequently invalidates your hypersensitivity, thats that's how BPD develops.

I honestly don't want them to find out their daughter, who've they've been so supportive of, is claiming they abused her emotionally, physically, and sexually from the age of two. Chloe better get on her knees and pray they don't either. Imagine how that would totally fuck up her family relationships. Factitious Disorders can fucking destroy a person's life. From how I've pieced together Chloe's 'trauma', it sounds like she believes she was satanically ritually abused, something that really could've only happened at the hands of her parents.
