Alright, it's worth a shot.
People get angry about the EPA guy all of the time but they never tell me
why. They only get angry because the guy who was appointed to head up the EPA is a guy who runs an oil company or something, but they never explicitly state
why else they're angry about him being appointed. Judging by the
overall trends in air and water quality in the USA, there's been functionally no change at all since he was appointed and we're continuing on the samea downward trend in pollution we've had since the 1980s. If anything, things like CO2 emissions have been
declining since 2014 and continue to decline even under this Mega-Polluter EPA man.
Lead levels, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter (PM2.5), and sulfur dioxide are also continuing a downward trend. The only things that seem to be on the rise are
carbon monoxide and
particular matter (PM10) but the spike is negligible, comparable to the levels in 2013-2014, and still
well beneath the National Standard.
I can't get very deep into "he wants to make the rich richer" because that just kind of sounds like a generic, information-less complaint, but I can say that all of the effort that was put into the tax cuts across the board benefited everyone, not just the mega-wealthy. If the mega-wealthy got a larger cut, that's because the mega-wealthy pay a smaller percentage in taxes, but they pay significantly more in a single tax season than you or I will pay into the system over the duration of our entire lives. It upsets people, but you can't hike taxes on the rich or they just pack their bags and
leave. When they do that, the entire country suffers from the lack of their taxes paying into the system and all of us have to pay in even more to make up for the deficit.
Beyond that, it seems more to me like everyone in this country with a million dollars in their bank account
actively hates him so I don't think he and the billionaire class are on the best of terms, anyways. Because most of his wealth is tied up in mutual funds, if the U.S. Economy hits the shitter, his net worth crashes and burns with the rest of it. He has every possible interest in helping the economy back onto its feet because if it goes down, so does every single stock that he owns.
I have no idea what that CNN article is bitching about though because I can't glean any context from it. The entire video they're using to complain about whatever he said includes nothing from his actual press hearing, it's just a bunch of talking heads patting each other on the back so I can't help you there. I
can tell you that the idea that Trump "will profit from selling this cure" is bunk, though, considering that his investment in that Sanofi pharmaceutical company is being done through a mutual fund, and he owns very little stock in that company to begin with. He may own as little as $99 in the company.
Even Snopes gave that story a
"Mostly False."
