Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

I suspect all the claims will come back, and then funi will likely settle and throw everyone else under the bus on orders of Papa Sony.

They'll probably also fire the VAs in question. Costing them THIS much money? Monica out a job and 500k in debt with Soye.

IF Vic does "win" and makes Funi settle, Sony will do more than force monica out. Sony will be doing a restructuring and possibly going after any body they employed that fucked up illegally.

Before Corona I would say Funi was the first and most likely to settle. Now courts are closing and saying, "nah push that back 4 months." Funi's position might turn into a war of attrition more easily and importantly cheaper. They can easily outlast MoRon and Marchi. They can easily pay for every appeal and bullshit motion. They now have extra months of back logged courts to extend things out for free.
When the multiple back logged courts get appeals filed for missing deadline/procedural violations due to corona it will delay everything. There have been multiple courts have closed that are under the jurisdiction of the 2ndCOA. It is inevitable that any judgement against them can be delayed/mitigated/denied YEARS from when Chupp rules it.

I can still see Funi just easily paying a fee and posting a statement for settlement. Everything is still just shit posting waiting for COA to do something.

I still don't understand them. They're arguing in their filings, and affidavids they never meant to imply or say that they fired Vic due to the investigation finding him being a sexual harrasser and assaulter.

So why didn't they just comply with the TDMA letter? You know, retract/remove the tweets, or simply clarify it.

Do that, and they were out of the suit right away; and saved potentially 200K. Even if they're still out of the Appeals and keep their TCPA win. Chupp never awarded them all their fees. They're not even appealing his fee decision.

Either way, they just threw money away.

When the threat of a lawsuit was first floated, they dismissed it. It was stated that they didn't have to worry about it. They were confident the TCPA would dismiss it and make Vic pay their fees.

So far they were right.

If any of the defendants had any brain cells, they would've done everything you two have stated last year. I mean, pretty much everything a Funimation VA does now, even if it's unintentional or if it's years ago, opens themselves to public scrutiny and criticism. And with rumors of some shady shit they're allegedly hiding, coupled with the disastrous effects of coronavirus, Sony can't possibly let this go on any further. I mean, look what's happened at Disney. They lost $175 million when their theme parks closed in China, and that was back in early February! To speak little how much they lost and will lose after the theme parks in USA have closed and how long the NBA seasons and playoffs remain canceled. Just imagine how much Sony has lost since the outbreak.

That's why Ty and his team have to go harder on these people in their reply brief. Monica and Jamie's brief read like a character assassination biography and Jamie's brief was more venomous than it needed to be (so much that you'd have to wonder what Sam was thinking writing that brief). This is their last chance to turn this tide in Vic's favor and there's no excuse because Chupp isn't there to make a decision; it's now three judges. That's one thing I want to see happen. The other is that the appellate court won't be as exceptional as Chupp, read the documents and make the right decision that should've been made back at the TCPA.

They weren't right, because they're still out of pocket over 150K.

Chupp barely awarded them anything, and only like 5K sanctions. They still wasted money, even if the appeals uphold the TCPA for them.

Here's a question, what will be the most AMUSING result?

Vic winning on appeals just to see LawTwitter get keelhauled on the Threadnaught and Manjaw, Renfamous and Armzgurl shitting themselves because TI and defamation online can drag them to court. (Even if they avoid it in this case, the next person they go after might go after them.) Just watching the slapstick comedy as they attempt to delete everything would be great.

Alternative, Vic loses but Corona-chan has so disrupted the entertainment industries that they cannot support MeToo shit, thus making his star rise higher. Aniplex replaces so much of Funimations staff and keeps them on a tight leash to the point they are "Funimations" in name only. Sabat's studio closes because it grew too fat on Funimations contracts. Nick releases the information he has, making Monica and Jamie pariah's of the VA community and the convention circuit.

Ron... Ron is Ron. What could happen to that man that life hasn't already done to him?

But if the end result is a "Pyhric Victory" that would amusing.

Most people don't have a concept of "the future." They thought the good times were here to stay. Sabat would protect them and get them jobs, maybe even get Funimation to foot the bill. The housing business was booming so Ron was bringing home fat checks. If Vic sued, so what? They could outlast him. They had corporations at their backs. They could smear Vic all they wanted because they had no worries. A year ago you could afford to be "prideful."

Now though? Sabat's empire is flowing through his hands like sand. Conventions are going to be on life support next year so they might take away those guarantees. Funimation is going to be told to "tighten their belts" which means cutting people. The housing market is dead in the water so Ron isn't going to be pulling in income.

But now if they settle, that means admitting they lied. This is too big to back down now. Monica and Jamie would never get invited to a convention. Sabat wouldn't get new voice talent for his studio since he is okay with stabbing people in the back. Funimation, Rooster Teeth and Sony would all have black eyes because they fired an innocent man.

Too much is riding on this now for anyone to back down as long as there is a hope that they can keep this out of court.

I had a member of my family tell me that the Coronavirus happened because God is angry at all of us. You got to wonder if the people God is angry at includes the people at Funimation.

God has seemingly intervened to make Vic's enemies appear ridiculous.

The timing of the virus hitting just as politics were at peak polarization, hitting our economy in just the right spot to cripple it, for nature to paralyze mankind with something we can't control or even see.

Whether God unleashed the virus or nature took the opportunity to feed on the weak, the universe is a strange place.

Yeah many religious leaders said the same, before getting it.

Sometimes the entire point of your life is to die in a way that inspires someone else, regardless of affiliation.

Is there a full timeline of the lawsuit shitshow, I completely whiffed this whole case after it got filed
The closest thing I can tell you is read the OP of the original thread and then read this thread from this point forward:
I've tried to hit all the important things that happened in a week-to-week basis just for anybody who needs a TL;DR.

OP says it's outdated, I went to the Weeb Wars thread but there is so much shit to sift through, I hope someone made a tl;dr summary of everything but I got nothing else to do right now so I might as well dive into this bullshit.
It's oudated on the OP, it's the next posts, #40 and #43 part 1 and part2 court filings

I should remove that so it doesn't cause more confusion.
Other than that, I've done my best to keep the index up to date.
Also, we're up to Part 3 of the Court Documents.

All 17 causes of action restored on appeal. Discovery reveals all sorts of funny shit about Kasting Kouch Kris Sabat. Entire case dismissed at summary judgement due to Chuppery and coronavirus reactivating Lemoine's brain. Lemoine dies from his superlawyering skills so then the defendants are awarded no costs and 1 dollar in sanctions. All the defendants promptly commit suicide due to bankruptcy.

Vic losing might cause more noise.

In the short term maybe, but if Vic loses then it's basically over and at best it'd all too quickly devolve into autistic screeching by a handful of hardcore ISWV vs incessant, insufferable gloating by KV. The path to long term, sustainable lolfarming is for a majority, if not all counts to be brought back, ensuring a plentiful harvest of future bad takes, and even worse legal documents.

Actually long, long, long term the most amusing thing would be Marchi gets free from all charges, Ron Monica and Funi are still in, Discovery happens and communications implicating Marchi in a very clear criminal action against Vic appear, so after gloating for a few months she gets back in and nailed to the wall.

Ron Toye has a mental breakdown and tries to assault the judge in the court. With a remote he brought to the court to make it funnier.

Sabat turns out to have had a casting couch, with more men than women passing for those cushions, and yes that is a double entendre.

During Discovery some messages from Monica where she essentially admits to wanting Vic's Italian sausage in all the senses of the words are produced and where she says that Ron's only worth is his net worth.

In my opinion those would be the more lols producing happenings long term.
