Farmers redraw hideous tumblr art - You know you want to

I have never played Animal Crossing, but destinymoon's design for this character felt stupid. A couple quick google searches later, I made a quick re-design.

Please forgive the messiness and unfinished look, I literally just used a sketching app on my phone and my fingers are clumsy.

Design choices: No beard or stache, no hand hair. More detailed eyes. Hairstyle more true to actual character. Skin tone a bit more saturated so it goes better with other colours. Slimmer face and body.

Showed it to a friend, and he said that mine isn't accurate enough; original character doesn't wear pants. So, just for his amusement, I made the TRUE humanization:

Awh. You made her look cute.

So, poor Catherine Pinla has a weird-shaped body:

those sad malformed tits...

First things first, let's make her look like an actual fat woman and give her a more expressive pose..

Next up: colours, cleaning up lines if I feel like it, accessories and possibly hairstyle change. Will update this post, stay tuned

I like how this one is an actually good redesign instead of just making the character skinnier in a worse artstyle

I also wanted to give go to a Destiny Moon Animal Crossing Art. I have been thinking that DM could easily do pretty good cute art if she just gave up on trying to forse SJW politics in. So I tried to do my piece using the original as sketch and follow it loosely but still definitely using it. Mainly I consecrated to get characters look pleasant and more like what they are based on. Unnesary body hair and stretch marks had to go. They lost some weight but stayed not skinny, Hazel having round and Charlise boxy body type. To me AC franchise is friendship centered so I changed the pose be more besties taking a picture than awkward lesbian hug thing. Other that I just tweaked details to get them to look like character they are based on. Coloring I tried to keep simple, tweaking DM set up more towards AC originals and mainly changing Charlise so that she would look more like green bear and different from Hazel.

This one is pit of an oldie and kinda off topicish. If you still remember those none binary dolls from Mattel. One issue I had with them was that clothing sets were not designed to be fun for kids. The dolls were really samy, just having different color hair and skin but not that much to make them stand up from each other. Seriously the dolls are named after their hairs. So I took one doll and tweaked clothes to be more and having a theme. I chose Black Straight Hair one that I think is meant be asian. I really liked some of the clothes and hated others so it was fun challenge to make that into fully likable set of clothes that filled the creators (stupid) politics while being something that little girls would like to play with.

So first I chose a theme based on my favorite pieces, the monkey shirt, the lion bag, the blue jacket and the red hat. I got animals, tropic and cliche painter vibes so I chose to call my collection Jungle art. I first looked the ones would would be perfectly fine as they are (hat, boots, classes, monkey shirt and jacket), the ones I defiantly needed to change (long pants and the long shirt) and rest that I felt need some work but were basically okey. Then I made the clothes more towards my theme while making sure they were easily mixable. I chose strong colors that were way more fun than the muted gray mess. My main colors (strong red, deep blue, light blue, golden yellow and reddish orange). Using those as I tweaked the fine clothes so I had better idea what I wanted the fully changed clothes to be. Generally I just made clothes more colorful and less depressing. Then I went to do the pants and shirt, making them more jungle than lol so random. Pants are now one of the show pieces and the shirt while bit boring doesn't look like a badly done washing cycle. I also ended up changing the lion bag. I really liked the original lion bag but it didn't really fit my jungle art theme so I changed it into a tiger bag to demonstrate what I would like too see as far as theming goes.

My attempt at a redraw:

is it possible to create a black character with colorful hair without it looking overtly feminist/social justice? i have no idea but i tried lol
I mean, Shana from Jem and the Holograms pulled it off, but everybody in that show had wild colored hair (and it was natural too.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOAl1aV7vA4
But of course the IDW comics SJW'd the entire fucking series so I just pretend those don't exist.

Apparently I can't edit the post anymore, but here's some progress:

Fatty dressing 101: Use horizontal ruching to hide bumps. Define waist.

I really disliked the too-warm beige/nude colour "dress", Cathy here clearly has a cool undertone complexion, so I picked a more bold, bright yellow to contrast w/ the purple (colourpicked from original's sleeves)

There we go. I'm pretty satisfied with the result, ngl.

Next up: accessories/details. I intend to keep those gaudy rainbow shades and night sky motifs.

This character looks more like an actual fat woman compare to the ironically racist caricature.

At least she looks classy here. Good job

It's been a while since I did a redraw so I thought I'd try again. It's ended up more like a "draw this in your style" than a redraw but whatever.

The hair was quiet a struggle but it looks alright. I tried to use the skin tone from the og drawing but it looked too dark and had to lighten it a bit.
Also I'm aware that the hand might be pretty weird looking but I swear I've been practicing it more. As of now I am handling them pretty well but I still have a lot to learn. (Yes, I really wanted to make that pun...)

This ended up being pretty cute although I am still not happy with the legs. It was good for practice tho!

this is really sweet! i love the way you did the face. such a nice change from the horrid original!

Never understood why people just love to head-canon people as lgbt when they are not. It's annoying because there's a clear double standard where we can't headcanon lgbt as straight nor cis. I get there's a lack of 'representation' but it shouldn't matter.
That's like headcanons where they make characters have mental illnesses, like ew. It glamorizes and romanticizes it. That's why racial headcanons tend to be accidentally racist.
