The problem with Desmond isn't that he may or may not be gay. The problem with Desmond isn't the existence of homosexuals. It's that his mother has found a relatively novel way to exploit her child for fame, money, asspats, and self-fulfillment.

She's like Susan Schofield, but with gender instead of hardcore psychotropic drugs.

Susan Schofield and Dee Dee Blanchard are two sides of the same coin. Only real major difference imo is that the separation of mom and kids didn't come as a result of Susan being killed.
