The most likely theory is that he didn't want to pay state taxes anymore and didn't realize WA had business taxes.

That's why I think the one other place he checked out was somewhere in Florida.

I've heard rumors that he visited four locations, but that lore was all before my time so I don't know all of it.

There are also rumors that DSP wanted to separate Leanna from her family as fast as possible, but I think those were actually debunked already.

Pretty sure it's the "no state taxes" thing.

1. because he thought there was no income tax
2. he had a list of states to possibly move to including Texas, and Washington just so happened to be the first one he visited and was likely too lazy to check out a second state.

The taxes thing was a big reason. Phil had his streaming business and Leanna had her soap business. The plan was to make money without a job and avoid paying taxes.

They did consider Florida it was Leanna's first choice. Leanna wanted to be on the east coast. It was closer to her family. There were beaches where she could hang out. But Phil made an executive decision that there are too many hurricanes and it is too hot.

Texas was an idea. I think Phil said it didn't have good enough internet and it was too hot. It also has hurricanes and tornados.

Washington has no taxes! It is where the cool young people live. The weather is perfect year round. Phil took a week to go house hunting. He spent a few hours looking, bought the third one on the spot, and spent the rest of the week eating at restaurants and getting drunk in the hotel.

I actually remember him saying that the Gin was
for when his back was sore which to me just sounded like a sad excuse for self medication you also might be forgetting what sold him on the third place it had a gate to keep out all those nasty detractors.

Florida was also nixed because something with business licenses. Leanna had some old forum posts around the time they were deciding where to move. They are probably in her thread somewhere and unlike Phil she would give more accurate info.

Also, pretty sure Phil once said he chose Washington because if YouTube ever fell through he could easily get a job in tech. Just wanted to point that out because it's hilarious.

One thing that always amuses me is reading Phil's chat during a pre stream in a day when a big revelation like today's happened.

They know it, we know it, and they know we know they know it. And yet, the subs are always talking like nothing is different.

I don't know, it's just that it feels so weird to me. But I guess they have to keep up appearances, otherwise they'd be instabanned by Straight Cuck Homie.

If Leanna not wanting to have to pay taxes on her "soap business" even had the slightest impact on Phil's life-ruining decision to move out there, that makes it even more hilarious.
You know, considering the tens of dollars a month she was netting from that lucrative business.
