She is as interested in STEM as the sociologists who get PhDs in 'engineering education' and 'STEM policy'. While most of the chinese you see abroad are likely Han (due to the economics of modern china) the nation itself is massive and very diverse. Many southern or far northern chinese can look pretty darn different from the standard east asian. Naomi is from Shenzhen is from her looks is likely not Han chinese but she still seems very inline with the phenotypes of that region.

Obviously, there's nothing to respect about her/'her'? public persona, but honestly I don't see the allegations of her being linked to some white entrepreneurial EE as discrediting. As stated before here the level of English is just too good for a Chinese woman living in China. I am living in a non-English speaking country but consider myself fluent in English having grown up with a lot of English-speaking media and reading a lot. I have a Chinese wife and know dozens of Chinese expats from all over the world. Notably Chinese women moving to the USA at a young age. I have never met any Chinese person, who was born in China and had moved to an English-speaking place after (lets say around) being 18 years old who professed an English level (talking about twitter, not her videos) even remotely as good as hers. She often uses words, idioms and cultural references, that i have to look up (after having been exposed to English for 40 years).
If someone mentions that her English is exceptionally good her answer is usually: "I have help", meaning she uses her network of English-speaking friends on Wechat to help her with translations. That's usually where the questioning ends. This is of course complete bullshit. Observe how quickly she responds to things. Correcting her English for each tweet would be a huge hassle and not really feasible. Also coming up with all the western concepts and cultural references and then translating them to English seems highly implausible. Her twitter persona has all the hallmarks of an american/canadian guy in his fourties.
The problem why her mainly US audience does not realize this, is that they only know their own language and culture. For anbody else, like me, growing up in a non-english speaking culture, but heavily influenced by the western/US media etc it is blaringly obvious that a girl living in China will never write/think like this. It becomes even more obvious if you know dozens of Chinese people all around the world...
I still enjoy following "her" I just picture in my mind listening to a middle aged american dude.
