The Mysterious Mr. Enter / Jonathan Rozanski's "Growing Around" - IndieGoGo Campaign Failed, John going off the deep end, "Turning Red" is ignorant about 9/11 (later retracted)

The big bad is apparently the people who want their rights back... hmm....
I know it is a really autistic way of Enter making a fantasy world "for kids" but he doesn't know anything about kids other than he likes seeing them crossdress.
If this thread has taught us anything, it’s that John doesn’t know anything about, well, anything.

kids? He believes cartoon stereotypes are accurate.

cars? He doesn’t even know what “flooring” actually means

world building? He can’t keep consistency between two posts let alone across a full world

Technology? Sometimes I wonder how he can even use a computer.

grooming/hygiene? Nigga can’t even brush his teeth.

writing/storytelling? His total ignorance of basic mechanics, narrative cycles, and character theory would lead you to believe that he was writing at a fourth grade level.

Cartoons? Besides not knowing proper color theory, framing, pacing, or editing, nearly every “review” is an example of how he failed to understand the show

the English language. His fundamental lack of understanding basic grammar and punctuation and his extreme use of fake words, incorrect words is so bad that I doubt he could legitimately graduate high school even with special ed standards

It’s quite amazing really. He pretends to be so smart, but he’s colossally dumb. It’s rare to see someone be wrong about literally everything they talk about

He's the prime example of the stereotype of autism. To a fuckin' T. His parents got tired of fighting with him and because he wasn't violent, gave up and let him do what he wanted instead of putting in the effort to make him understand personal and adult responsibility.

Gonna have to powerlevel for this, but it's still the best example I know.

I'm an autist (surprise surprise)- I live independently, have steady employment, and am basically a functioning member of society. Why? Because my parents not only understood that their job was to raise their children to eventually live without them, but also realized that while I would need more help with certain things, it did not exempt me from things like basic hygiene, age appropriate responsibility, and things like that. Of course I fought them- most autistic kids do because these things are often over stimulating or bad stimulation for them.

Ideally, parents should keep pushing so their child gets used to these stimulations so they can integrate into society. Plenty of parents of autistic kids just wind up giving up. You see this time and again with the autist lolcows on the farms. Chibinekodemyx, Chris Chan, Enter- all their parents gave up on them and the end result is why they have threads. Granted, there's only so much we can blame the parents for. Their children's refusal to take responsibility and be fucking adults in any capacity at all is their own faults. You don't have to understand why you have to brush your teeth and shower, you just need to know it's something you have to do because it's a rule. For example, as a kid, I hated dressing up and having my hair done for events and holidays. I would protest and complain, but my parents would tell me it was required and I was going to wear the dress clothes and have my hair done, though they would try to meet me in the middle so I wouldn't be horribly uncomfortable in "bad" material or too much hair spray.

If more parents were like mine, we honestly wouldn't have this many autist cow threads. It makes me both sad and angry. Enter is smart enough to know such things are just the "rule" of society. He's had more than enough response videos and blog posts specifically spelling out why people have issue with him and his behavior and would rather live in his fantasy world ignoring everything around him, desperately clinging to his terrible cartoon idea taking off.

I might be repeating what somebody else said, but does he really still want to have this be a kid show? There's no way this won't end up under the "What Do You Mean It's For Kids?" category on tv tropes. I think he should pull this all back while he can and tweak his vision and expectations a little.
I used to watch him as far back as 2013, but I didn't think he'd get this "big".

His target audience is still children, but as seen in the Amazon reviews of his book, kids aren't exactly enjoying it anymore than we are.

The problem is that he does know it’s the “rule of society.” He’s made it crystal clear that he hates society and the adults that made it, and growing around is his rebellion against society.
If I had to guess, his parents probably didn’t stop pushing, and that’s why he resents then and his childhood so much. He’s got the intelligence of an edgy 12 year old with a columbine infatuation

If I had to take a guess, it's not because Enter's parents stopped pushing, it's because like Chris' parents, they didn't know how to handle having a sped kid.

Instead of spoiling, and coddling him like Barb, and Bob, Enter's parents probably yelled and punished him for not being a 'normal' child. Most likely coupled at the exact same time with not understanding that you have to teach autists basic life skills that usually come naturally to other children, which is why Enter never learned to brush his teeth or shave properly. Same goes for basic social skills and societal rules.

This doesn't excuse Enter for being such a colossal, fetishistic fuck up, but it would be the reason for why he turned out this way and why he hates society, and adults as a whole, as well as why the world of GA is such a horrifying, dystopian hellscape.

The irony of Growing Around is that the main concept could very easily be retooled as sort of an adult oriented, dystopic satire of a kid’s show universe. Show it from the perspective of the adults and such, you’ve got some legitimate horror potential from the Cute Camp episodes alone.

Alternatively, if he really, really wanted to keep it for kids, he needs to either remove the parents from the equation entirely or at least give them something like that “school is really an adults-only country club of sorts” thing. In fact, he could probably take substantial notes from his obvious #1 inspiration KND, which did that kind of thing a lot.

Honestly the problem is that Enter is way too stubborn to take criticism and when he does, he somehow manages to add more problems such as Cute Camp which was to address possible adult uprisings.

Not even that big of a stretch. Frame it as an allegory for life after you have kids, similar to how marriage is game over, and you’ve basically got a sitcom episode. Not a full series, but enough for a full episode

The fundamental reality of Growing Around is that it is not appropriate for children. It is made by, and perhaps unknowingly, for MANchildren who desire nothing more than a regression into infancy and who still hold anger from the times that they were children and unable to control society in a meaningful way around them. Enter's hatred of society and adulthood and all the trappings that both of those entail manifests itself plainly in his work, which, when analyzed under this light, falls apart under its own merits, supported only by his irritation with societal norms, quite possibly due to his inability to understand why those norms are in effect at all.

Growing Around is the culmination of Enter's extremely limited life experiences and his manifesto-in-being of sorts. Any criticism of it is a criticism of his most fundamental ideology and beliefs, which is why he is so incredibly defensive about it. It is why it doesn't change or grow or evolve, because Enter himself cannot change or grow. Growing Around is Enter's CWCVille and is just as sacred to him as Sonichu is to CWC.

Growing Around is a dystopic, horrifying nightmare when viewed by an outside observer who is comfortable in modern society, but to Enter it is his dream world. A world where he can both be a kid AND be in charge. A world where he doesn't have to go to school or get a job or do anything that was demanded of him, and the 350,000 dollars he asked for probably wasn't going to animation anyway, but to allow him to coast for just a bit longer on his fanbase and get the closest he could to the Growing Around universe in real life.

Once you put it that way, then why yes....Entard really does come off sounding more and more like a school shooter who didn't have the balls to do said school shooting and instead stewed in his depression/misery, mostly due to his inability to make real friends/positive life experiences for himself (which he still fails to do now even more as an adult.), let alone have the balls to do said godawful trigger-pullng crime, admittedly enough...

And at this point, this (what you pointed out successfully, I might add.) is pretty much why he needs to be committed, already, for his own sake! Extreme Therapy or correctional brain surgery aren't effective enough (and too expensive for a dirty hobo like him, as it is, anyway.). to save this perpetual crybaby IRL. He definitely can't find a job that forces him to stop this shit for good, again, with how much of a perpetual crybaby he is IRL, which is worse.

The only route I see for Entard is someone committing his ass without his knowledge, if only because someone cared enough to want to save his life, or hopefully something selfless like that.

Dude, you should seriously calm down. Your hateboner for Enter is concerning.

Dude dial it back. We've lost many different user's to enter's own autism. Don't become another name in that list

From that Growing Around commentary he made, he pretty much confirmed that the show was meant for himself:
Enter said:
More than a few episodes of this show are me going through my own beliefs, my own fears, my own problems and my own thought processes. Deconstructing them and trying to come up with some happy, healthier medium. That might seem a little bit - I don't know if self-centred is the right word, but on the surface of it, it does sound self-indulgent. Many of the morals of several episodes are usually for me first and foremost...

Once again though, I gotta say, I think that this might be one of the best ways to tell a moral...

And sometimes, with episodes like No Boy Left Behind and The B Word, it has smoothed my thought processes, if only a small bit.

From that Growing Around commentary he made, he pretty much confirmed that the show was meant for himself:
Well, every artist puts something of himself into their art, and that's normal. However, this show is entirely for Enter's own benefit. Everything is for his own satisfaction and that is why the art will fail. If someone makes something for profit, they will try and placate the masses. If someone makes something because they can, someone somewhere, by the laws of statistics, must eventually enjoy the product. Enter is making Growing Around solely for himself and has found the only possible means of creating art where it is possible that nobody will like the finished product.

Quite true. To quote Brooklyn 99 here: "Cool motive! Still murder!"

I'm sorry - getting my face smacked like that hard was well deserved for letting my mind go to such a Nuclear Waste Tier place, honestly. I usually don't aim to sound this fucked, mostly by accident, anyway. It's all just so frustrating to behold.

To be fair and rest assured, without any actual experience or connections in this industry of choice, Enter ain't ever gonna get this crap made, as it is. Even if he did, he would have to either water it down immensely, start over completely, or be forced to go back to the drawing board, already (none of which he's going to do, which is all the more sadder, IMHO.)... I really just want to see him get a real (non-Youtube, as that isn't really a job and never was.) job, deep down.

I only say this because like all of us have by now, you haven't really functioned like a human being until you've at least worked a job amongst fellow humans - besides making some actual friends, anyway.
