Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

What I don't understand is the propagandized fear in Europe of something like bankruptcy. Do they execute you in Europe at the end of a bankruptcy or something?

They don't in the USA? :)

But seriously - the fear of losing your home isn't enough? I knew one guy who basically ran away from his debt. He worked cash in hand and lived sofa to sofa. He said they don't bother trying to track you down if you owe less than £10,000. I imagine it caught up with him one day though - every year it becomes harder to live off the grid. I don't know a lot about this but bankruptcy has always sounded really bad to me. You're right - it does always surprise me when Americans talk about it like some sort of inconvenience. Maybe it's different there.

Ah yeah I forgot the follow PP rules. Just bitch endlessly with no endgoal in mind then betray your principles as soon as you do anything... How do people keep voting for these impresentables?!

A combination of social conditioning, a reliance on the government paying for things, and a gentleman's agreement between our two political parties to prevent a third or fourth from ever gaining any traction.

Seriously, I've heard of the DNC actively campaigning for the GOP in California because the Green Party was about to win an election. They'd rather someone they ostensibly disagree with 100% win than an alternative spring up. See also: Bernie.

[I had a longer rant here about the DSA, the Justice Dems (a DSA front organization), and how they realized they could use old commie tricks to take power over the left in the US, but it's not the time.]

But yeah. I can't wait until the food stockpiles start running out because our state governments are completely nonfunctional and none of them want to risk being seen as "weak" or god forbid, "working with Trump."

Does anyone know how long Americans farms can go unworked before it won't matter how much TrumpBux we have, you won't be able to buy food because of stock issues?

So not only are they gonna implement UBI but they plan on giving motherfucking 2000 a month to everyone? Over here making 1000 a month is considered being middle class at least! And here I thought our "nuff for food and cheap rent and stfu" UBI was insane! How in the name of fuck do they plan to print that much money? The dollar's gonna wind up being cheaper than the fucking Peseta!

Where do you live where making $1k a month/12k a year is considered middle class? That’s below the poverty line in the US. Even that is considered to be inaccurate and the actual poverty line is probably higher. For example, minimum wage ($7.25 an hour) at 40 hours a week would earn you $1,160 a month/$13,920 a year, which people simply cannot subside on (especially considering rent alone in most places is around 1k). There’s a reason why a lot of working class Americans have two or even three jobs.

I understand the concerns about money but a one-time payment of $1,200 is not going to make a long-term difference for people who were already struggling and were left unemployed due to this pandemic. For a lot of people that barely covers rent for a month.

Very interesting article from the American Enterprise Institute. Writer uses China's data to show that the actual number of ChiCom Flu cases in China is more like 2.9 million vice just over 80,000.

Not sure this actually was archived properly but will post just in case.

Not to worry, the farms are being worked. Think any sheriff is going to go to someone's farm and tell them to stop planting? No. Ops normal on farms.

This is insane. A three-day grace period to "allow" people to secure masks? Nigga, HOSPITALS can't get ahold of them for love nor money and we've gotten conflicting reports for weeks as to what everyday materials actually would function to protect from spread.

Cuomo is pants-on-head-retarded.

EDIT: archive here.

Archive.today doesn't seem to work for pdfs. Archive.org does though

Normally your primary residence and one car are exempt from collections in bankruptcy unless they have a very high value and low debt load.
I mean it's a legit Federal court process that normally exists to tell creditors how much money they lost and in what order. Just read the DSP bankruptcy thread.

Cuomo is pants-on-head-exceptional.

"Trump is a dictator, literally hitler, orange man bad!!!! .... Why isn't he doing anything?! Daddy Government is supposed to SAVE US!!!!"
"Watch as I demand everyone in my state either lock themselves up inside for the next 18 months or buy completely unavailable disposable medical equipment immediately."

Had a bit of an argument with some friends recently. Can someone clarify something for me so I know I'm not completely nuts?

1. We need N95 grade masks or better, right? The others are better than nothing, but not really, and it's not just a case of "only medical professionals need N95s," it's "that bandanna you wrapped around your face isn't gonna do shit other than maybe reduce the range you're in danger at."
2. SARS2-NCOV is an airborne virus, right? Because it, you know, travels through the air?

Both seem like no fucking duh things but it was from a few friends who have gone in the past few months from fairly stable to, uh, not. Especially with regards to Trump or COVID19, and both statements ("you need N95s or better" and "this is a serious airborne illness") set them off something hardcore.

It's supremely annoying having some advanced info on the Wu Flu, even if some of it is doomerposting, and waiting for the various CNNs of the world to "discover" things we knew back in February / March so you can talk to normies about it without them instantly rejecting it with a "the CNN is citing the WHO and thus you must be wrong" type deal.

They're finally starting to talk a little bit about how it might damage male reproductive organs... How long until they discover this shit might take out your T-cells (read: AIDS) and supposedly comes back after you're clean (read: chronic health problems)?

Thus far, nobody in any state has actually been dumb enough to attempt disrupting the food supply chains. That's why jobs related to foodstuffs are pretty much at the top of any "essential business" list. Even running out of hospital space would be less catastrophic than running out of food.

COVID-19 isn't airborne. The transmission vector is in saliva that is coughed out or exhaled in droplets but they're only able to travel about six feet, hence the social distancing. It's not as though they can go through airducts, etc.

Maybe OP is a time-traveling doctor from the 1700s who believes in the miasma theory.

There's a leading story on our largest news portal today with a huge headline: "Fewer cases or fewer tests? We asked the Ministry of Health". The ministry literally posts their daily numbers on Twitter. The same news portal reposts these very tweets every day along with a bunch of poorly translated doomer news from the world over. Good job, you succesfully retrieved information from your own website. Investigative journalism, fucking hell.

Alright so late news I missed from this morning. It seemed weird to me that the control session was so short and civil. THAT'S CAUSE I MISSED THE FIRST HALF! Oh what a shitshow of epic proportions it was. But also, really productive actually. PSOE was firm in their calls for cooperation to the right and very consistent too, I'd say they actually did much better than expected despite 1 or 2 minor fuckups, props.

The PP started on the wrong foot and didn't get any better. They flinged shit less than usual but they still flinged a lot of shit and had really no solid elements. And how could they? Their only argument is "we don't like your mismanagement so we won't help you manage things better!" Which is fucking retarded to the umptieth degree.

The real shitshow however comes from our pals at Vox and oh I'm not even mad at how stupid they are I'm starting to think I should make a lolcow thread for these motherfuckers holy shit it's like if Chris Chan was a political psrty this is hilarious.

So, context. As you may have noticed, platforms like Wazap have started culling how much people you can share a single video or message to, so as to protect their precious servers and bandwidth in these trying times. You may have also noticed fact checking websites pop up all the time. Well, spanish conspiratards have claimed on private media that this is a censoring attempt by the spanish government to hide the truth... what truth they're not specific, all they seem to agree is it has to do with communism. Now this is just typical conspiratard nonesense which is why I didn't mention it. Well... Vox just proclaimed, on the government, that all of that is true, that the spanish gov is censoring THE WHOLE PLANET, that all fact checking organizations, scientists and journalists on the world (and presumably the ISS) are members of a single communist illuminatti style complot and that this is all led by "THE INTERNET GESTAPO." This combined with the PSOE's success at staying in line have probably doomed Vox and tilted the PP's optics towards a unified pact significantly. This is fucking hilarious, everyone is eating vox over it, holy shit.

I was out supply gathering today in the US midwest. Walmart and Aldi. It was better than the last time as far as availability of stuff goes. Toilet paper was in short supply and there wasn't a single can of Lysol spray to be seen, but that was fine since I didn't need those things, I just looked out of idle curiosity. Nothing was blocked off. About half the shoppers were wearing masks or scarves, the other half were not. I was able to restock my Greek yogurt and coffee hoard with minimal issues. (Still had to go out, get stuff, bring it home and put it away. I am now exhausted.)
