Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

True. Its a shame too because he provided some great characters to SW. Ahsoka, the Clones, Ventress, Cad Bane, etc.

But he got a little too close to the personalities he created and that created problems down the road. The best example is Ahsoka, who worked out and became the heart of the CW show against all odds (potential to be annoying kid sidekick, potential to be a Mary Sue, etc.) and yet, when it came time to give her the hero's death, he just couldn't pull the trigger.
Not that I'm disagreeing with you as you're mostly spot on, but Ventress was actually created by Dermot Power, Genndy and Haden Blackman (design, character, backstory) and Leland Chee named her.

Why does SW has a fetish with killing my alien waifu? (unlike Feloni's, mine is actually of legal age)
Well I prefer her dying to Grievous than Anakin, but having her death off screen is really disrespectful regardless. I think it proves the point that Ahsoka has really overshadowed Shaak ti. Which she didn't deserved.

True. I had forgotten that she was in the 2D Clone Wars show first.

However, I would argue that it was Filoni's show that really gave her a character. In the 2D show, she was really just "Lady Maul" and there to give Anakin someone to fight. It was a very cool fight, but the 3D show expanded on her beyond just being cool.

If you liked Ventress in that show, please do not read Dark Disciple, they did all characters including Ventress real dirty. Though it seems the novel isn't even "Canon" anymore.

Technically most of her character comes from the comics. Even most of her personality in Filoni Wars' comes from them. Including half of her backstory. The weird witches of Dathomir arc was written by George's daughter which retconned her into being a member of Maul's species for some reason and the daughter of witches, however one of the secondary writers was able to keep part of her original backstory and her jedi mentor intact, so the end result is like a weird amalgamation that retcons her homeworld and species by tying her to Maul for reasons that don't really amount to anything since the two never really click.

Her original backstory is only alluded to in flashbacks which take scenes from the comics but changes them slightly like Ventress having hair. The problem I have with this is that they chose some Dathomir witch stuff instead of making a full episode adaptation of her past which would've been more emotional than simply spending 20 minutes to explain that she's a witch. I mean if they have to they could have their whole witch shit, but they missed out on a good opportunity for a multi-part backstory.

To add to this, the shit-tier novel was actually an unfinished episode of Filoni Wars that makes everyone look like pretentious idiots and Ventress dies in the worst and most uncreative way possible.

Then there was the Killing Joke movie...

To be fair...the movie gets good when, you know, THE KILLING JOKE!...actually starts. Its not perfect and I still recomment the graphic novel over the movie but as a novelty to hear Kevin and Mark playing Bats and Joker in TKJ.

But seriously what the fuck was the first part of the movie? Why do people like to pair Barbara and Bruce together? Its a ship that never made sense and always just seemed just wrong. Barbara is usually around her late teens and early 20s while Bruce is usually in his early 30's and mid 40's...so even if she is of legal age, Bruce is too old...and hell, Bruce would never do it. The fact he allows Barbara, the daughter of one of his closest allies and friends, to risk herself as Batgirl was always a stretch of what he is okay with...now pork her? Even if Barb did show interesting, Bruce would realistically be like "yeah, no...Im too old". The Batgirl subplot was pointless and there are cuts online wwhere they just skip to where the killing joke begins...

It would of been cooler, if instead of being a Nightsister by birth, Ventress instead had to earn her trust with them, I just feel like making her a Nightsister was the easy way out on explaining why they our assisting her. Ventress in Filoni Wars feels too much like Katie's Lucas emo woobie self insert, But that's just my opinion.

I think I prefer her surviving order 66 and trying to train other Jedi and only going down to a highly trained Vader apprentice (and Starkiller is debatably more powerful than Vader so keep that in mind).

But I can be a bit biased since she wears this skimpy tribal outfit...

Jokes aside, I always enjoyed her character since the 2003 Micro series, there were some real great scenes with her, especially at the end.

I 'm bummed she didn't appear in action, but glad they didn't really step on Genndy Tarvosky seires, If Shakk ti has to die during this time period, I'm glad it was to Grievous, that was my favorite deleted scene from episode 3, and her death to Anakin felt cheap and dumb.

I know right, its like "Yo, can you keep those noises down? Im sl-I mean meditating. Wait, why did you just stick the lightsaber through my ba- Okay, guess Im dead now. Bye"

Her dying to Anakin feels like something that would happen if DSP was a Jedi Master.

He would be taking a nap, snorting KFC or getting caught mass debating in front of his students, Anakin comes in and he would be like "Hey, whats go- OH!?WHAT?! DOOD! WHAT THE FUCK, WHERE DID THAT COME FROM, I WASNT PREPARED! HOW IS THAT FAIR?! YOU ARE A COCKSUCKER, SKYWALKER, YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT? *BURP* Aw excuse me-WHATEVER DUDE, JUST KILL ME, IM JUST TO BE HERE JUST LETTING YOU STAB MY BACK BECAUSE YOU ARE SUCH A GOOD JEDI! Yoda is a fucking cocksucker!"

All while Anakin keeps stabbing his back and wondering how the fuck he isnt dying. He forgot DSP has immortality so...

Edit:

"i myself am a former pro Jedi Master"

Despite the positivty around this episode, let's not forget Filoni had a big hand to play in ruining Luke Skywalker and dragged out an arc that was ultimately pointless. People are now going back and saying Filoni is still the true savior of Star Wars because of this episode alone, which is like saying someone should run a restaurant after serving poison because the next dish was good. Also the Micro series is still the best lead up to Rots. Don't forget Ahsoka's rant at Obi-wan, about how the Jedi don't care about the people despite all the innocents on Coruscant. I think's it funny the best praise overall for this episode here is Shaak Ti's new implied death.

Its amazing how she went from unlikable twat to likable learning hero to back to an unlikable twat.
Thanks Feloni

Ahsoka turned into a poorly written anti Jedi mouth piece, without a strong argument to make me agree with her. They should of had shown her spend more time with Bo-katan honestly before that reunion.

How very Karen Traviss of Filoni, really Dave Filoni should had Ahsoka name drop some events the jedi did or ignore to make her come across as less immature and a little more reasonable, but it came across as "Jedi bad, dyke hair and Genocidal Red head told me so!"

The problem is that the story wants us to agree with her and to be fair, its not entirely wrong...however, you would think Ahsoka be aware that the Jedi are still trying their best for the most part. Especially after she had such close relations with Anakin and Obi-Wan. Usually when the plot wants to call out the Jedi, it has an argument and examples, Ahsoka doesnt, which in turn makes her come off as arrogant and twat-ish. As if leaving the order left her with no leash and guidance and thus her old arrogant self would suddenly take over again.
It weakens her character and the plot in general. It feels very...hum...how do I put it...

Except they would never show Ahsoka as a loser tity drinker, that would be sexist or something...

Im getting tired of SW plots throwing the "the jedi are evil/should end" without having a proper argument for it besides that they were arrogant (even tho we are shown a lot that they are still trying their best...)

They took the lesson of the PT while ignoring the OT, which is that Luke Skywalker reformed the Jedi. In one of his many interviews, Lucas said Luke went on to be the greatest Jedi of all time. That is still canon to me.
