I want to say that there's practically no chance of Steam not allowing Yandere Simulator on their platform, but after thinking about it I'm honestly not sure. While they may distribute many adult-only titles, I think there's a distinctive lack of games where you play a schoolgirl that murders your classmates which seems like the kinda thing that has the potential to draw mainstream media attention in a most unpleasant fashion.

Edit: Also, if Yandere Simulator were on Steam, I'm fairly certain the userbase would rip him a new asshole over his game. Not much fun, repetitive, poor performance, etc...the forums would be a dumpsterfire that would never get better.
Man, wouldn't that be something. After all that time developing the game, only for it to not be allowed on most platforms.

If Alex didn't "Breakup" with Cleaveland maybe that would have been the only time he accepted male on male? then again maybe he fired him cause Cleaveland was trying to hit on him?
I do wonder about this.
Allegedly, Cleveland got into a heated debate with Alex over the server; Cleveland wanted it to be Twitch subs, Alex wanted to keep it public. Some shit happens and Cleveland leaves, and Alex bans him from the server. We do however only have Cleveland's word on this, at least as far as I know.

Interestingly, Cleveland's entire post history is still present in the official server despite not being in it, which is something they usually purge when banning someone. He's still a mod on the subreddit, and still actively kisses Alex's ass on his Tumblr and on the Subreddit. Which makes me wonder if he ever got banned at all, or if it's some kind of distraction. I'll stop before I get the tinfoil hat out, but something about this doesn't make sense to me.

If you took a random 20-something pajeet and told them you're bankrolling their next 5 years but they will live in a basement and code a game for you all day, every day, you'd end up with a finished product.
Your typical low-quality, low-cost, short turnaround time offshore developer in India could probably reach the point that Alex is at right now in about a month, and most of that would be spent just getting a feel for what they're doing.

One thing I'd like to point out is I don't know why Alex is so insistent that his game be taken super duper seriously. He's said that he doesn't want Yandere Simulator to be a meme game but... it already is? Yanderes can be done seriously but (like the queen of them all, Yuno Gasai) but they're a parody trope more often than not. Also, Yandere Simulator works way better as a tongue-in-cheek parody of anime tropes than a gritty, serious crime game. Like, there are characters named "Asu Rito" (athlete) and "Oka Ruto" ("occult") and "Mai Waifu." There are in-universe parodies of Death Note and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. There are anime stereotypes like "absurdly powerful student council" and "cherry blossom confession tree." And yet Yandere Simulator itself is not supposed to be a parody?

I think most of the people who like the game and play it are people who aren't taking it seriously, too. So idk why Alex has such a stick up his butt about it. Focus on memeing it up instead.

This is likely old news, and may have been posted before but I don't feel like searching almost 2k posts to see if it was, but this guys programming skills are god awful. Here's just one example of the horridness of it:

Because apparently division is too hard.

from my experience, the fans take it very serious but that’s because they’re little kids

I can already see it happen. the hired team fixing everything, followed by Alex just throwing a fit and firing all of them because his anime titties are now just a tiny bit smaller.

Why do I feel like if he does get the funding he wants for a team he’s gonna dump all the people offering free volunteer work in favor for a group of people who he’s gonna just control the same way, basically get the same results out of because he doesn't trust anyone else to bring any ideas to his game, except now he has to pay them for a service he was already getting for free

I know he just wants to fill the piggy bank as full as he can with crowdfunding but honestly I don’t know why he just isn’t just content with using his fuck kittens to finish his game for free while he still turns out somewhat of a profit for himself from patreon since i feel like even if he does end up paying the team he already has I don’t think he’s gonna realize how much of that kickstarter money isn’t going into his pocket when he has to start dishing out the payroll

but knowing alex his big brain surely thinks this game is gonna receive max funding so having to pay people will be no issue at all, right? :christine:

That's because Alex takes anime very seriously, so any cliche from it is super serious too. Also, it can only be meme game, because of the amount of crap that Alex's added as Easter eggs - from One punch man to Corona chan.

A 3D Hitman style game is clearly beyond the capabilities of a single dev. Alex could have simplified the graphics of the characters into something like this :

The gameplay could have been dumbed down to something remniscent of The Escapists.

I thought it was already banned for some reason, no?

I'm watching this video and found this comment:

:story:

So basically you can't have Senpai and Yandere-chan both be male, because that would make Alex uncomfortable. Girl-on-girl is totally fine, though!

Considering Senpai is Alex's self-insert, maybe he's disgusted by the thought of another man pursuing him?
I’m not actually sure if Alex has said anything to this effect. Also the gender swapping isn’t 1 to 1 between the characters; Ayano has significantly more lines, so swapping her gender would add much more work than swapping Senpai’s (to my knowledge, female Senpai doesn’t have voiced lines). An Easter egg version of a male Ayano has also been in the game for a while, so.

No joke, this little code segment convinced me his IQ is atleast a standard deviation below average. All of the inside of the void could be condensed down to a single statement. Even a fucking 10 year old learning how to code would intuitively use division instead of this.

I'm not sure if an official reason has ever been stated, but pretty sure in the case of Twitch it's widely believed that the ban was due to the gameplay mechanics that encourage you to take panty shots of students to trade for stuff from Info-chan. No other bans come to mind.

That chunk of code boils down to "If Affection is 0, make AffectionLevel 0; next check if Affection is less than 25, if so make AffectionLevel 1; next check if Affection is less than 50, if so make AffectionLevel 2," and so on and so forth. Since you're checking Affection in increments of 25 to see what you should set AffectionLevel to, you can just write your code so you divide Affection by 25 to see what AffectionLevel should be instead of doing a bunch of comparisons.

Basically, that block of code can be condensed down to something not unlike:
this.AffectionLevel = Math.roundUp(this.Affection/25);
with not unsimilar results, though if you REALLY needed AffectionLevel to be 5 because you're a spaz or something you'd have to tweak your code to allow Affection to go up to 101 instead of merely 100.

Essentially, just divide Affection by 25 and round up.

I do wonder about this.

I recall asking about whether these so called "easter eggs" are even "easter eggs". So I decided to look up the definition of it:

Do "easter eggs" in Yandere Simulator even qualify as easter eggs if you can just access them via some key? Who knows. Might as well call it "unnecessary crossover homage slash ripoff".

So anyway, if hypothetically Alex isn't the only reason why the game reputation's in a big downfall, it's also down to his stupid mods. Cleveland is one of them, and the woman behind defended about the usage of the Discord bot (aka Adolfin) is also one of them. So why did I bring them up, you might ask?

Adolfin posted Yandere Simulator fanart on the subreddit. This might seem "Meh who cares, just a mod posting fanart" at first, but a closer look reveals how stupid this "drama" is:

Given the panty shot, naturally anyone is gonna think this image is definitely NSFW. I might as well post the definition of it on Wikipedia to further explain it:

That panty shot fanart is certainly not what you want for you to see in public.

So I'm posting about the obvious. Why am I bringing these up? Because the fanart isn't even marked as NSFW and someone brought it up in the comments section:

1587367190658.png

And then Adolfin did the right thing and just mark it -- nah I'm kidding she decided to sperg out at the user.

But my, it gets worse:

Adolfin you idiot, you're the one who actually started the drama as well as doubling down on how it is totally SFW.

So thread is locked (lol), and fanart is still not even marked as NSFW. Better hope Reddit doesn't do anything about it...

actually i would like to point out that Adolfin herself is NOT responsible for the Discord bot- that’s another mod, joel_creeper. she’s just the mod that defended it on Twitter. but my fav sentence there was probably her saying “and as mod, i see nothing wrong w it” and also how she replied at one using her mod status. LOL
