Adolfin posted Yandere Simulator fanart on the subreddit. This might seem "Meh who cares, just a mod posting fanart" at first, but a closer look reveals how stupid this "drama" is:

Gotta love how tasteless it is too put a pantyshot in what supposed to be a edgy dramatic scene.
It's like drawing something like The Birth of Venus and then add her a playboy bunny suit.
Lifelong puberty at its finest.

I recall asking about whether these so called "easter eggs" are even "easter eggs". So I decided to look up the definition of it:

View attachment 1242659

Do "easter eggs" in Yandere Simulator even qualify as easter eggs if you can just access them via some key? Who knows. Might as well call it "unnecessary crossover homage slash ripoff".

Alex doesn't understand vidya terminology. Go back to his delinquent video and you'll find that he refers to the tedious fighting mechanic as a "minigame". A minigame is, as the name clearly implies, a small game within a game. Yanvania is a minigame, the music club performance is a minigame. One of the key mechanics in the main game's gameplay? Not a fucking minigame, even if it's optional. That's like saying taking the taxi in GTA 4 is a "minigame".

I saw that post and kept an eye on it.

She felt it necessary to use her Moderator status in a post to tell people that "If you don't like it, don't view it" (a non-arguement I've seen her use a lot) and that there was no need to argue over it... when she's the one arguing over it, and completely ignoring the feedback people were giving her. They were telling her that the piece is NSFW since you wouldn't view it in public, and it needed to be flaired correctly otherwise it will show up in thumbnail form on the post listings, forcing people browsing the subreddit to be careful when viewing it.

You would think that would be common sense, and flairing it based on this feedback would be a non-issue. But the fact that she used her status as a moderator to repeatedly insist it was fine, and then lock the post preventing further replies just goes to show what a childish attitude she had to being told that she was in the wrong.

So I agree with the notion that the Moderators are just as responsible as Alex - if not more so - for bringing negative attention to themselves, the community, and the game. They are the effective face of the community, so if they butt heads with people over benign shit like this, the people that had run-ins with them will speak of their negative experiences with others.

This is likely old news, and may have been posted before but I don't feel like searching almost 2k posts to see if it was, but this guys programming skills are god awful. Here's just one example of the horridness of it:
View attachment 1242272

Because apparently division is too hard.

This really isn't awful, but a computer would chew through that and any other example in this thread in the same time, plus affection is rated from 0-1 so it's not like that block of code is going to grow to be unruly and hard to debug. Alex is aware of the round function as well, so he likely chose this option deliberately because it was easier for him to read and understand, and I agree.

A lot of people see else-if chains and think that means he's a shitty programmer, go read the Celeste player class and you'll find that code isn't exactly the pinnacle of programming either - but Celeste is as good as it needs to be for what it needs to do without impacting the experience - and it's a wildly successful game. Alex is a shitty programmer not because he uses else-of chains, but because he uses them in lieu of things which are faster, easier to debug, easier to read, and easier to extend. Anything else you put here would be as fast, as easy to read, as easy to debug and as easy to extend.

2 days ago YandereDev's latest rant was posted here, however he posted this too about a week ago, and this wasn't posted as far as I know. And yeah, he pretty much misses the point in this one too, but this time it's about his lolcow past.

So anyway, if hypothetically Alex isn't the only reason why the game reputation's in a big downfall, it's also down to his stupid mods. Cleveland is one of them, and the woman behind defended about the usage of the Discord bot (aka Adolfin) is also one of them. So why did I bring them up, you might ask?

Given the panty shot, naturally anyone is gonna think this image is definitely NSFW. I might as well post the definition of it on Wikipedia to further explain it:
View attachment 1242663

That panty shot fanart is certainly not what you want for you to see in public.

So I'm posting about the obvious. Why am I bringing these up? Because the fanart isn't even marked as NSFW and someone brought it up in the comments section:

View attachment 1242665

And then Adolfin did the right thing and just mark it -- nah I'm kidding she decided to sperg out at the user.

But my, it gets worse:

Adolfin you idiot, you're the one who actually started the drama as well as doubling down on how it is totally SFW.

So thread is locked (lol), and fanart is still not even marked as NSFW. Better hope Reddit doesn't do anything about it...

...... oops.
Is this a hill worth dying on? Why not just tag it as NSFW?
I dont understand the resistance NGL

...... oops.

“Panty shots are SFW”

Lmfao. Let me just browse panty shots at work and then tell my boss “No, it’s okay, these are totally SFW! There’s nothing inappropriate about upskirt shots of girls’ panties!”

I also love how gratuitous the panty shot is in the art. It would have been so easy to not add that but she did anyway. Great job.

The same logic can be applied to having a panty shot mechanic in Yandere Simulator.

Yeah, can I talk about that for a minute?

It’s creepy and gross. It’s creepy and gross to do that to any woman, but it’s especially creepy and gross to do that to high school girls. Even if they’re just characters in a video game.

Alex tries to defend it by saying “It’s supposed to be a bad thing and you’re supposed to feel uncomfortable,” but why even add it at all? Most people are going to feel deeply uncomfortable doing it, and the people who enjoy doing it are perverts I wouldn’t want playing my game. It’s hard to implement something immoral (in a video game, book, etc) and make it obvious to people you’re actually speaking out against it without people misinterpreting you (see the misaimed fandoms for stories with unreliable narrators like Lolita and A Clockwork Orange).

It would be so much easier to just remove it entirely.

Even the game acknowledges pantyshots are lewd, so Adolfin really cannot argue with it. But play chess with a pigeon, it'll strut across the board like it owns the place and take a big fat shit on it.

People have been asking for the mechanic to be removed for a while now, and it's among the reasons I feel that the game is banned on Twitch; the pantyshots.

The characters don't really react to it at all, which they most certainly would in reality since it's sexual harrassment to have photos taken of someone in a lewd manner without their consent. In a real setting, it would lead to some severe punishment or even expulsion if caught with that content on your phone of your classmates.

He had to add a censor to upskirts so Youtubers could make videos on them unhindered, since Yan-chan's skirt flaps about in the wind and it's very easy to look up it. The man went so far as to add favours for info-chan as an alternative to pantyshots, just to keep them in. If he implemented favours, surely that would be an adequate replacement?

First off, there’s an easy fix to the skirt thing (aside, you know, not programming upskirt shots). I went to private schools from K-12 and the girls’ uniform had a skirt. The girls (me included) would all wear shorts under our skirts to avoid flashing people. I think that’s a pretty common thing to do, actually (idk if it’s the same in Japan though). So Yan-chan and the other female students could have modesty shorts that would prevent upskirt panty shots if Alex was serious about removing them.

Also, that’s right- he did program a different way to pay Info-chan rather than panty shots, so why not implement that full-time? It would end a lot of controversy.

Wasn't the panty shot mechanic designed to target towards the anons or I'm mistaken (trying to ripoff some other obscure PS3 game)?

Alex would argue that it's to not bend down to the SJW crowd but the simple truth is he's a massive creep and likes to perv. on high school girls (friendly reminder he's a fucking 30 year old man). I remember seeing a screenshot where YandereDev liked r34 images of his characters on Tumblr.

@José Mourinho The panty shot mechanic isn't even an original idea of his. It was ripped off of Natsuiro High School.

Pretty sure its something that was done to drawn in /v/irgins on 4chan. The concept is probably used in some other games but I don't know any of them off the top of my head.
Here's a wiki page on the panty shots (archive).

What I find interesting is that you're able to put bugs around the school so the info girl can listen around, and put malware on other students phones for her in exchange for the points you get from panty shots. So there are already alternatives in place for the panty shots why not just remove them? Its clearly going to be something that gives him difficulties later when he's trying to get the game approved for rating.

Another fix is to have the skirts be, ya know, skirts. The private school I went to had a minimum skirt length of below the knees. This middle of the thigh length skirt is inappropiate for teenagers. Especially at school, more so a private one. You'd expect to see yansim's school uniform more in fetish stuff rather than an actual highschool.

Isn't this school supposed to be elite? Tangent: why is this school so animu if we are supposed to take this world seriously? I mean this school was designed by "god" (the tots perfect high school girl) and her dad (the CEO who wastes valuable talent to stroke his ego) so why is it so incompetent? The dress code is lax. Half of the school building is wasted space. Worst of all, there is barely any concern for safety.
I mean, in a country notorious for suicide, the roof railings are very low. In a school that is privately owned there are little to no security cameras. There is a literal gang of students hanging out by the incinorator. There's an incinorator which students have easy access to. The school is severely understaffed, as there's only one gym teacher, who also acts as a plaground assisstant. The pupil population is extremely small. Especially for the size of the building the school uses.

This isn't even going into the "dress" code which is lacking, especially for a japanese school. I mean, I might be wrong but, aren't the male and female uniforms rather out-dated.

It's a well known fact that a majority of Alex's knowledge of Japan is through inaccurate stereotypes portrayed in anime. It's why he insists keeping the current uniforms because "it's anime", despite being a uniform associated with middle school which completely contradicts his insistence they're all 18, and his bizarre maths regarding Senpai's sister Hanako who at best is 17.

If he actually did any research in japanese culture he would know that incinerators came out of active use in schools in Japan in the 90s, due to the Kyoto Protocol in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Schools much like the rest of the country typically recycle rather than burn (though the country still has a bit of a garbage problem, last I knew), but incinerators are still portrayed on school grounds in anime and manga for whatever reason.

So right off the bat, Alex's main method of disposal shouldn't exist.
