I genuinely feel sorry for the Tumblr staff, 2-3 years back is was a really great site with lots of artists (who do more than kids show fanart) using it. Now they have to babysit the cotton wool chamber for a bunch of overgrown babies who fall into panic attacks at the sight of a cartoon photocopier.

Cause he's based on drift racing, had Japanese writing on the side of is car mode and in the comic likes meditating and at one point in the comic is sitting next to what looks like a sushi service. Canon wise he spent time in Japan and is kind of a weeb, but who the fuck cares, the biggest Transformers market is Japan and they love that fuck largely due to the whole "wandering samurai" trope that he fills.

Also, a lot of tumblr has a massive hard on for Japan. To the point where one social justice blog I used to check in on for a laugh reblogged a map of European Imperial influence and unironically praised Japan for being the least influenced
Because, you know, its not like Japan as we know it today emerged thanks to contact with a variety of western Imperial powers.
Or that the Japanese Imperial State was a thing. That did some truly horrifying shit to its subjects. Oh no, not the Japanese, they're so nice with their traditions and anime!
