Trump says he will sign order to temporarily suspend immigration into U.S - Concerns over COVID Transmission and Employment

(Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he will be signing an executive order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States.

“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States”, Trump said in a tweet late on Monday.

Don't get your hopes up big guy. Still cucking to big business to allow immigrant workers despite the health risk.
Legal immigrants overstaying their visas is the single largest way illegals get into this country. Your average illegal did not come here by jumping the border or getting smuggled over by the coyotes and their cartel friends.
Uhh you guys know that isolationism will cause your economy to stagnate right? Every economist knows that.
Getting rid of immigration =/= autarky

(I know you're not a real poster, but I'm bored so I'll play along.)

I would be fine with nearly open borders (for economic reasons) if we didn't have birthright citizenship plus anchor baby backdoors into the welfare system for illegals... but we do.

Reform/get rid of those things and we'll talk. Otherwise, I'll pay more for my fruit while unskilled labor Mexicans stay Mexicans in Mexico.

Economists also think that moving most of your manufacturing base overseas is a good idea. They also believe in things like infinite growth and too big to fail.

Telling immigrants "fuck off, we're full" doesn't mean we're gonna stop trade.

And some things are more important than an economy. Yeah, people like money; but I'd also prefer not being required to speak Spanish to work in the fucking education field.

The last part is the more important point. The US had no problem integrating the Italians and Irish and heck the Germans before them. At their times all those people were considered alien in culture. I don't see why hardworking Catholic Mexicans cannot be Americans, except for, of course, the huge inflow and the establishment bending over backwards to accommodate the culture and not trying to integrate it.

Not that I necessarily disagree but this particular line just reeks of American exceptionalism. Fatso in the line somewhere in Paris or Prague who can't speak a word of the local language, instead SHOUTING. ENGLISH. WORDS. REALLY. LOUD. BUT. SLOWLY.

Bitch, learn a second language. You'll be better for it.

There's a difference between choosing to earn a second language and being forced to learn one because the national language changed overnight due to a non-stop influx of people who wanted to be in your country but refused to integrate.

I know. However, I get the impression that "Latino" people actually integrate pretty well, it's just they keep speaking both Spanish and English. Am I wrong?

Has nothing to do with American exceptionalism; but the influx of people we apparently can't turn away, but can't speak the language either. So we front the cost of damn near double the staff because their illiterate children can't bother to fucking learn English. I'm not the fat burger in line screaming to speak English, I'm the baguette wanting the stars and stripes to fuck off. You should check out our social security offices someday, some places have shit posted in over 10 fucking languages; people don't bother to be better and learn English, but will fucking suck up every fucking dollar they can.

You are wrong, quite wrong. We got retards pulling down the American flag and hoisting their Mexico flag because they can. We got burritos saying they're gonna reconquista America for the Aztlan Empire; an empire whose language they don't even fucking speak, because it's been replaced by Spanish. And the schools are filled with illiterates who don't value education, because their parents don't value it, and will openly tell them they don't need to know English. And there's some parts of LA, San Diego, etc you don't fucking go to after dark if you don't have dark skin or speak Spanish. That's not fucking integration, unless you're operating on some big brained Euro definition. We had an issue where a kid couldn't wear an American Flag shirt to school, because it might offend some of the fucking tacos (and they were worried about gang fights) who are so fucking good at integration.

I mean, you’re talking about tourists who are there helping the local economy while being annoying. Commenter you’re responding to is talking about making it a requirement for employment in the US educational system.

Exactly. And the fat burger is at least spending $$ there and contributing positively to the economy. This isn’t something that gets me even mildly MOTI, but our educational system has enough problems, and the kids of people who shouldn‘t even be here drive up costs and mean resources have to be used on this bare minimum stuff instead of helping us get ahead. If the local school system wants to take this on that’s great but right now they’re required to and it just holds us back.

The US had huge problems with Germans (the original reason for English language laws), the Irish (Gangs of New York isn't a documentary, but Scorcese didn't pull it out of his ass either) and Italians (Al Capone, before that bomb throwing anarchists).

And these guys arrived in the days when there was no welfare and a large percentage of immigrants either went home or died because they couldn't make it in the USA. A system that brutally weeded out losers and charity cases.

It wasn't until the 1924 Immigration Act restricting how many new people could come in that things started to settle down and, by WW2, Micks and Dagos became as American as Shackleford Van Daterape III or Leroy Brown.

They're both good for the economy. Low-skilled immigrants allow employers to cut down on operating costs through oversupply of labor and pass those savings onto the consumer, allowing you to purchase goods at your local store at low prices. The next time you see a Mexican you can thank him by buying him a taco.

I don’t see what low-skilled adult immigrants have to do with a requirement that our educational systems absorb their kids in a manner which requires resources be deferred to teaching them to speak English, which even the poorest most neglected American kids can at least do when they show up at kindergarten. Jamal might not know his colors and maybe nobody ever read him a book, but at least he knows what order he is defying when the teacher yells at him to behave and he refuses.

Purchased at low prices with credit, because illegal labor has and continues to depress wages for across the board, especially those at the bottom. If you actually care about the working class, removing illegal aliens is a good place to start.

This is very true. We literally encourage the Latinos to form ethnic ghettos and we bend over backwards to tolerate the crime that goes on there. We import too many of them at once to reasonably assimilate them. People like to point out how at one point the US had over a quarter of the population foreign born (early 20th century), that was also the time where there tons of immigrant gangs from Chinese to Irish to Jews and the Mafia gained the first footholds in the US. Smaller immigrant groups have historically better integrated into American society.

Some of them do. There's a real divide between mestizos who come here and Indios, since the mestizos speak Spanish and the Indios don't. Some speak Nahuatl (although Nahuatl speakers are more integrated into Mexican culture so most speak Spanish) but many speak all sorts of obscure Indian languages few have ever heard of. This leaves them fucked over by the other Latinos because those immigrants have access to Spanish language services but the Indios don't because they can't speak Spanish because they came from some village in the middle of nowhere in Mexico or wherever. There are also many traditional healers operating all over the US in Hispanic ghettos, and what they practice is basically shamanistic pseudomedicine.

You mean instead of pocketing it for their shareholders? Gee whiz, how nice of them!

Like Germany did with their Turkish guest workers, and repeated it in 2015, when Sweden joined the cultural enrichment.

That's right, don't worry about homogenuity or having a stable country; just buy cheap shit.

Is that taco before or after he rear-ends my car and is let off by the police for driving without a license?

The working class aren't the ones creating jobs and stimulating the economy. Maybe the working class should learn a skilled trade. Jobs like manual labor were meant to give teenagers experience, they were never meant to be a sustainable career. If employers have to raise their wages, they'll either just move their business to a cheaper country or just replace their employees with robots instead.
