Time travel is nothing new to Star Wars, but it seems you could only go forward through time not back, so it was impossible to change the past, but then Dave Filoni introduced the Space Anus to save Ahsoka, so they could really do anything they want with time travel now.
Oh no, please don't misunderstand my schadenfreude as a sign of optimistic salvation. Whatever new canon or timeline they establish will undoubtedly suck or get fucked one way or the other, I just find it incredibly amusing how this goes against everything Disney, Hidalgo, Martin and nu-fans said about how their precious canon would be handled from now on, and if this new shit really is their attempt at reducing their nu-canon into apocrypha then I still see it as the silent admission of defeat that they couldn't keep that broken ship steady no matter what they tried. And if its not that, then this is the next best hilarious thing as this is them confirming that they can no longer keep track of their own retarded new canon so they had to start making new stuff be standalone due to that their own canon has become an even bigger and more confusing mess than the old canon at its weakest could ever hope to be. Hell in just 6 years Disney had more worse guides and books than over 40 years of SW history. Its all downhill from here but at least it will hopefully lead to more people to stop treating Disney's garbage as anything remotely valid or try to justify its horrid existence by using the typical "it wasn't that bad", "I don't like it either but its canon" or "I expected far worse"" arguments.

Pretty much. Most instances of backwards time travel were proven false or were the result of some sort of illusion thing or just part of some non-canon "what if" comic. Only instance of a traditional backwards time machine in old stuff was a non-canon Spanish children's comic from the 80s. The Aing-Tii "flow walking" thing though is you exploring a non-interactive "imprint" of the past which can cause visions on very very rare occasions. But other than that, no real backwards time travel exists as you said, just forward time travel via hyperspace fuckery where someone gets lost in hyperspace and ends up popping out a hundred years later. Other than that, the existence of alternate timelines were alluded to only on two occasions. One was the ancient Darkstaff incident which I covered here before back around when the first Plan IX leaks came out which created a few alternate timelines (however even this was a case of forward time travel, not backwards):
Time travel is only used well when the main theme was time travel to begin with like with Back to the Future or The Girl who lept through time, most other times it feels like a cop-out at least when it involves backwards time travel.
Matt Martin already said "Canon" doesn't even matter anymore. I just wish they stopped with the pretense of all this being canon, Dave Filoni even contradicted the Ahsoka novel by giving her blue lightsabers instead of her usual green ones, I want to know the thought process behind this decision because they are technically still hers, did Anakin having them change them to blue? I thought once a lightsaber was built its blade was permanent, did Anakin replace her crystals or do lightsabers now work like mood rings? Can non force users change a lighsaber's color? This overall is a minor recon that doesn't really change the story but it adds so many questions. I think it's purely an aesthetic choice, but I don't understand the in-universe reason.
Agreed. It only ever seems to work best in media where Time Travel is the main focus. In anything else where its added in midway or near the end it just feels phoned in to try and help the writer escape his own mistakes.
I have mixed thoughts on Endgame, It didn't use time travel horribly but I would of liked it way more if they didn't use it. Still Endgame is way better than the Fan Fic trilogy.
Your Shitposts of the Gods inspired me to delve into both Cult Encounters and Supernatural Encounters. I'd forgotten that Alan Moore had written since early Star Wars comics, but a few he wrote are prominent in both works.
Editing is indeed a must, but one can't blame the author since he never had a chance to run this through an editor before Disney shut down Hyperspace. It was only thanks to SWTimeline that this thing saw the light of day at all along with some other unreleased stuff. However he does have an editor and an actual team now helping him for the edited and updated version coming out in September or October of this year. As for the names, that's not his doing as a lot of them come from older sources as far back as the 70s and as late as the early 90s or unused ideas by Lucas himself, like some of the battleship names (akin to cringe names such as Nute Gunray), and Hari Seldona's name is actually a reference to Hari Seldon, one of the character's from Isamov's Foundation novels which helped to inspire elements in SW (obviously not the same characters, just an allusion). The BG stuff (as forced as it was much to my distaste) is mostly a reference to the Star Wars entries in the old InQuest tabletop magazines from the 90s which had similar crossover tie-ins for tabletop purposes, but thankfully its minor and easily dismissable, especially since it wasn't in the original early versions of SE before it was put on Timeline.
