My question is how long until everyone has just moved on entirely?
Kids are getting born all the time, and when one group of fans “grows up” from YS, new people are discovering “an anime game about yanderes”.
Big chunk of people in this thread are like this - you can often see posts from new users about their interest in a game before they ended up here. Tho it’s still a mystery to me why adult people support Alex - like CleverlandRock, for example.
So there always will be new people, even tho game doesn’t have as much marketing ways as I was before - only few yutubers regularly play it, there’s no popular anime about yanderes atm, all game-related official internet pages have security stricter then North Korea’s. Kids doesn’t know what’s good, and many kids discover anime culture and get in love with extreme characters like yanderes.

This is very true. Idk who pointed it out first, but the YS fandom is just a revolving door of edgy 12 year olds getting unsupervised internet access for the first time. Kids don't know about quality filters, or blocking, or quality in general, so when they see something that is "dark" and "gritty" and they don't immediately get freaked out by it, it makes them feel like these grownup badasses who can do anything. Because that's all kids want, to be grown up, and what's the easiest way to prove that than by paying for the development of the crazy high school murder game?

I wouldn't be surprised if Alex did work fairly often. Definitely not the hours he says he does but when you're as inept as he is I imagine he spends a lot of his time picking up the pieces of his own shitty work whenever he went to add something. Stuff is being added to the game, although they're not big additions from a programming perspective, really.
Honestly this. I think that even if he did work as hard as he claimed, he's coded himself into such a deep rut of utter shit-spaghetti that any progress would be minimal at best.

I have a question: because of the current pandemic, how much longer does Alex have?

Before this whole thing started, if somebody were to point out that the amount of time Alex puts into "coding the game" doesn't correlate with what we see, one his revolving door of edgy 12 year old fans would be able to say "he still has a life to live! He still has bills to pay and errands to run! Leave him alone!" Even though Alex certainly doesn't do these things, normal people do, so if you don't know much about Alex, you would just assume he does all of this as well.

Because of everything that's currently going on and the world wide quarantine that's currently in place, Alex no longer has "errands to run" or "bills to pay" or "a life to live." Even the densest child knows what's going on right now and how it's impacting everybody's lives, so when quarantine officially ends, whether it be within a few months or a year, and Osana STILL isn't in the game (even though she's "ready") how bad is the backlash going to be? If Alex were smart, he would implement her ASAP, because how the hell are you supposed to explain away not doing your job when you were literally ordered by the government to stay home all day?
I mean, in all fairness, he wasn't doing his job even when the government wasn't tell him to stay home but now it's really going to bite him in the ass

Pandemic hasn't changed his routine much and even before that his fans were sitting on his 3-4 hours long streams and listening his "I work for 12 hours a day" without seeing any contradictions. Either they don't care about the game like people above have already said or just too naive to see through these obvious lies.

There's a sucker born every minute, literally.

There's a sucker born every minute, literally.
3.8 million people are born in the US every year. 1 in 54 people people born today are on the autism spectrum - about a third of those are literal tards who can't meaningfully function in society (not CWC-tier dysfunction - as in, they have a sub-70 IQ or literally can't use language), so we can exclude those, and get a general sped rate of 1.235%. This means that about 47,000 high-functioning autists are born every year, or 129 a day. The Yandere Simulator subreddit has 27.5 thousand subscribers, or about half a year's worth of autists, and a steady growth rate of about 40 subs a day...

I'm starting to hate Alex's alogs almost as much as I hate Alex himself.
Fucking redditors man...
I personally find this kind of shit funny.

He tried to give his "haters" a collective name with negative cannotations in his Hate and Shame video, while strawmanning arguements made against him and explaining the situation through his perception of what's going on, or perhaps intentionally giving a misleading story. He fully expected to be taken seriously in that video, so people took that name and use it against him in mockery. His rant in Hate and Shame is the kind of behavior I'd expect from a child.

Just briefly bringing up the Reddit post Adolfin made again, the one where she insisted pantyshots are SFW. After her comment-deleting-and-thread-lock episode she ultimately listened and posted a piece of NSFW fanart with an appropriate flag.

"Great", I thought. "She's not completely mentally handicapped". And then I lost a few braincells from reading the comments.

I give her a gold sticker for listening to feedback, but since the mini-drama was over something that should have been common sense and still evidently thinks it's safe, she's still an idiot.

I'm no artist by any stretch of the imagination but what is with that lighting? It's on both sides of her body so it looks like it's coming from a very small light source very close to her body. If she just removed shadows from one side of the body it'd be a perfectly okay piece of artwork.

Apparently Alex is so depressed he can't work on the game, and has no idea when Osana is going to released. All because of us gosh darn gremlins :( I guess all he has now is his free thousands of dollars a month from Patreon, with no need to actually work for that ( this was taken from r/osana BTW)

I don't check this thread very often, because he's such an insufferable prick.

It's very clear that he wants to give it up on it entirely, because he's in over his head. He can't come out with the truth and say that, because, as you say, the Patreon shekels will drop. I don't actually think he has the capacity to finish the game, because it's bigger than his ability. So instead, he just strings along his supporters hoping they will continue to cough up with money in the hopes one day a game will be released.

'Gremlins' and 'harassment' is just a convenient excuse.

I'm playing the world's smallest violin for him. It's a shame his supporters are too naive to see it.

I wanted to take note of this particular sentence, because those still in support of him still firmly believe his Patreon isn't a scam on the technicality that nobody is forced to give him money. While it is true that it's an opt-in thing, people do so under the pretense that they'll get something at the end of it. Scams usually promise something for up-front monetary investment, which is what Alex's Patreon has been for the past 5-and-a-bit years, and time and the Patreon sheckles press ever-onward while he delays Osana because apparently it'll now turn the game from a sandbox into a demo? I think the only one who even cares about that is Alex.

Like you said it's clear there's no game coming at the end of it because he's bitten off way more than he could chew. He might not have started the project with the intention of lying to his Patrons and his fans, but that's certainly what he's doing right now. He's earned himself such a bad reputation that even if by some miracle he does complete the project, it'll be tainted.

I know it's been talked about in previous posts, but Osana was supposed to be released on Valentine's Day according to him but thanks to likely videos ranting on him or unfunny overused consume chalice raids in his Discord it was delayed. Even then, he spent the past 2 months working on SNAP mode, the stupid Alphabet challenge (likely trying to get YouTubers to continue to support the game), and even went on to actually say he still has to improve the game. Unless he can actually manage to achieve all of these within weeks (which I highly doubt), he's definitely lying about the Osana delay and this is pretty low for him.

Sadly, Alex is right about the state of the game (likely not what he intended to, but point still stands). The game is already in a huge mess and it doesn't help that the game is still in a pre-alpha/V-slice/whatever stage for 6 years and we already have a lot of issues to talk about the game even without Osana. If Osana was released now and into a true demo phase, it would definitely get ripped on for being absolutely shit and doesn't even help that Alex even has to add in the part where the true demo will become the "actual experience and quality level of playing the final game", which of course would be terrible. However, the solution isn't adding a huge bunch of unnecessary complicated stuff to try and enhance it because not only it delays Osana, it actually made the game a lot worse. If he wanted to add these complicated stuff he should've just advertised these to be in the final game via Kickstarter. Instead, he just worked on these as a solo developer with several volunteers, his reputation gets tainted (starting from his relationship with volunteers, falling out with anons, etc.) etc. made the situation a whole lot worse. Personally, the falling out with TinyBuild was Alex's true downfall which would've helped a lot with the game but too bad he doesn't want to because he doesn't want to put anymore additions to the game. (Quote unquote from Alex himself too)

He is in a huge lose-lose situation now imo:

1. If he all of a sudden decides "Fuck it I'll release Osana now and start a Kickstarter" we would have a lot of shit to talk about him especially how his Kickstarter is most likely gonna be very dumb, and given his negative reputation the Kickstarter will likely fail and the final game will be just like the current game but with bugs and rivals looked like Osana, which would be abysmal. Even if his Kickstarter succeeds thanks to his underaged fans, there's no guarantee that he would work well with a team of professionals given his experience with his previous volunteers. Even if by some miracle the game actually got released and his relationship with the team of professionals is actually positive, the game will still feel dated and we'd get a mediocre game at best and I can't see any hope for Alex's future given his reputation unless he made a huge apology at the end, but this is Alex we are talking about here.

2. This is a more likely scenario but if he decides to continue his development which is "I'll continuously improve the game and then once I feel like it Osana will be released". given his Patreon money dropping it's ending up very badly for him. At this rate, trying to improve the game to fix a lot of the problems as well as likely adding other features, Osana aside, would definitely not take "weeks" but rather "months". Game is indeed buggy which you would of course expect from a pre-alpha/V-slice/whatever phase for a game, but even with the bug fixes, the game still feels so dated. Well, unless if you find killing your rivals and dealing with their bodyguards with a lot of steps is considered "fun" for you.

I just hope Alex isn't stupid enough to actually delay Osana's release next year (2021) which by that time his Patreon money would be embarassingly low compared with right now, which made me suspicious he was streaming to try and get some of the extra cash.

The main problem with the game is unfocused design (or lack of any design whatsoever). The game tried to be a little bit of Persona and a little bit of Hitman, but those are two different games with two completely different genres, settings, and plots. Given the novelty of such combination, there's literally no one to stealcopy the design from, as no one has ever had a similar dumb idea. The result is just a random collection of features that sure, can be worked and improved upon, but ultimately that can only potentially lead to a relatively bug-free YS with the current design, which would be the most boring game ever. To make YS fun, radical changes are needed.
There's only one way to save YS as a game that comes to my mind:
1. Alex makes a list of essential features of the game, plus a list of nice-to-haves.
2. Alex gives that list to a team of experienced developers and designers, who then iterate over the idea through a series of prototypes in order to figure out what fun gameplay would look like.
3. Alex listens.
Step 1 is easy. Step 2 is unlikely. But step 3 is literally fucking impossible.

But as few people mentioned in this thread, the fanbase of the game treats the game not as a game they'd play, as a puppet show their virtual nannies (also known as "youtubers") give to them, with each character having as much personality as Beanie Babies (those things had short descriptions to give them a smidgen of personality – exactly like YS characters), and Ayano is just the main character of that show. Kids then gather around to discuss the show with each other and ask the puppet manufacturer inane questions about things their puppeteers told them, and the manufacturer plays along, as those are the only people who still care about the puppets. But if you stop the shows and give the kids the puppets so they can play with them themselves, then they'll toss them on the ground, bored, after few minutes.

I said it earlier, but I think what I initially thought the game was could've worked - ie a satire of games like Hitman with an anime setting. While I wouldn't necessarily have put things like "panty shots" into the game as currency because it would inevitably cause problems with things like Twitch/YouTube (which inevitably a game like Yandere Simulator would be popular on), it at least would've played off as consciously cringe-worthy instead of just creepy.

1. Alex makes a list of essential features of the game, plus a list of nice-to-haves.

He basically needs to apply the "kill your darlings" bit. Instead of inventing an bodyguard with a contrived backstory to stop the player from killing Osana from the get-go he should've just made the initial school map smaller with less spaces where Osana is secluded from other students. That would've been the easier and least contrived solution, so of course he went for the bodyguard solution.

Either way, he screwed majorly up by pissing off TinyBuild. It was his only hope for getting a somewhat functional Yandere Simulator game out, but I guess he earnt too much on his Patreon at that point to let it go.
