How many of other minorities like black and chinese are in there? 'Cause if it really disproportionately affects latinos over other equaly unsanitary ethnicities we might have to consider an actual inheritable component to this. It wouldn't be my first guess so far. But this did make me think of it. Conspiratards have been banging that drum for ages over here and in italy. Don't know exactly why they claim chinks would want to specifically go after spain but as always with them it's something about communism. I swear they literally think everything is communist.

Yeah, I've been wondering if there is a genetic component to how this effects people. That said, in my area of the country (pretty close to NYC)., latinos have the lowest mortality rate compared to blacks and whites respectively. The rate of infection is almost as high as blacks (who have the most) but they are dying at a lower rate.

I believe someone in NYC proper mentioned it was the same there.

"Latino" is a broad category though, and the latino demographics are very different between NYC and California.

If I remember correctly, "Asian" came in third with ~200 cases ("white" fourth with about the same number) and "African American" came in last with 150. Deaths are pretty even across all ethnicities in Alameda county so far, though there's only been 45 recorded. Again, who knows what "Unknown" means.

If I had to guess, it might be an issue with comorbidity, poverty, and proximity of living space. There was a lot of controversy over the city shutting down a multitude of large homeless encampments this past year (primarily in East Oakland), but I can't help but think that might have prevented a bigger flood of cases.
