I received an Emergency Alert yesterday that read as follows:
Extreme Alert
From the Governor's Office: The State of Michigan has extended the Stay Home Stay Safe order until May 15. Individuals are strongly encouraged to wear a homemade, non-medical grade mask when they leave the house. Some restrictions have been lifted. For additional guidance, see www.michigan.gov/coronavirus.
From what I heard on the evening news, masks might not be legally required (yet, anyways), but grocery -- and possibly larger/big box style -- stores are allowed to refuse entry to people not wearing them.
It's possible the legislature is waiting to release anything specific until Whitmer actually announces/presents an actual reopening plan instead of teasing one for nearly two weeks. Whitmer originally wanted the shutdown extended through June, but relented when the legislature said lolno. It wouldn't surprise me if she extended the status quo two more weeks at a time until it ran through June because she's passive-aggressive enough to do that when she doesn't get what she wants.
Even if that doesn't happen, I still expect a party-line clash between herself and the legislature about the details of reopening. For someone who used the promise of bipartisanship to get elected, Whitmer hasn't shown much of it since taking office.
Even when people aren't panic-buying, CVS' prices for snacks and other grocery items tend to be higher than average. Sometimes, the independent corner party store has the same items for sale for less than what CVS charges. That's why budget-minded shoppers wait for CVS' sales/coupons or only get items there that they can't get elsewhere.
