Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

"They" are TERRIFIED of the consequences of "us" waking up. Absolutely terrified. "They" already see fewer and fewer people buying their bullshit. Now, in addition to passive pushback, "they" see more and more active pushback. "They" also see the Department of Justice weighing in on "our" side when "they" deny "us" our civil rights. What a welcome change from the Obama regime, where if you weren't black you didn't exist to them.

All anyone ever asked was to levy restrictions rationally. Hasn't happened. The "one-size-fits-all" approach of house arrest was ludicrous from the start. Now these little Hitlers masquerading as state governors are being called on their overly heavy-handed tactics, and they don't like it. These bastards simply, in general, will not adjust restrictions based on actual statistics. My county is a prime example of that. County "health director" says we are supposed to have 9,000 cases by now, and 33,000 in about a month.

There are 150 cases, in a county of about 450,000.

Think this fuck is adjusting his predictions? No way. Lets him keep fucking with us. Have no idea why the county Board of Supervisors doesn't fire his useless ass.

Things like this destroy people's faith and trust in government and law enforcement. In that respect, the cure is truly worse than the disease.

Added: I see a legislator is telling people NOT to demonstrate outside Fuhrer Whitmer's governor's mansion. BULLSHIT. Go there every day. Be there 24/7. She doesn't deserve a pass from anyone, any time, for what she has done to the people of Michigan.
Have any of these one size fits all measures been worthwhile? people say it is justified because Covid-19 can spread through asymptomatic people but many diseases do the same thing. I hear that it is more infectious than other diseases but its hard to find exactly how much more. I feel like if going outside is selfish because you can spread the virus then we should lockdown every flu season since old people are at risk of it as well.
The president shows up every day to a press conference but answers no actual question. Our Health Minister is a fucking commie (literal commie) who doesn't care much. He's responsible that we bought the rapid tests from China that are more expensive and have 90% rate of fake negatives. The hospital tests you, says you're negative and sends you home even though you're sick. There are already cases of people tested negative who died few days later and the autopsy says they had covid. People protesting this are accused of being "far-right".
I really wanna see this. im just imagining him staring at the camera for 7 minutes like in john cages 4 33
this is retarded but one thing to clarify is that the ceremony is digital. the pic is a bit misleading
has anyone taken advantage of the oil price crash? like dude I went up to the pump and filled about 3 canisters full of gas, I don't drive that much but gas was expensive so I got extra for me and family.

when I heard about the oil thing i legit looked up if there was a way to get free oil lol

heres some more coronavirus cringe. that college humor channel from the early 2010s came back with a new video in the if google was a guy series but they forgot the funny:

I think if anything that's enough to possibly shatter the theory of this virus being a leaked bioweapon, unless it's a horrifically under-baked one.
Well, it was made in china, so what can we expect?

Anyway, the (pretty autistic) bioweapon angle can be pretty easily disproven by looking at who gets most affected, even based on the horrendeous numbers we see in Spain or Italy.
A bioweapon that only really affects sick and old people would be pretty useless, unless your idea of effective warfare is to disburden the retirement system in the hostile nation.

We really need a "Chinese content" rating.

I mean I think this was the result of Chinese incompetence letting a more or less natural virus escape, but I don't think it'd have to kill a ton of people Captain Trips-style to be a bioweapon, just crippling our economies like it has would be enough. Especially if China's economy does actually come out of this numbah one with the rest of the world reeling and easy pickings.

It's just a COOF.
Yes, it's looking to be about as infectious as flu. The problem is that we have no population immunity, so it's ripped right through us faster than a nun's first curry. The common cold would be lethal to a naive immune system.

The best response in most places would have been to protect vulnerable populations and let everyone else get on with their lives. Maybe wall off a few of the denser cities.

I agree. But you need to be DAMN SURE about what you are doing. And some people might think that they are DAMN SURE but they make a lot of mistakes mixing chemicals and water. Or mixing chemicals, in general. Especially under physical or emotional exhaustion, can't find glasses, noise in the background, get poor advice, misplace instructions, etc.

In Sydney, Australia, we're down to 12 positive cases a day, out of 4840 tests done today. A 0.2% positive test rate.

It's sunny and warm. Anzac Day. Brad Hazzard, head of NSW Health (He let the virus infected Ruby Princess cruise ship dock and didn't bother with testing anyone, that's where most of the infections/deaths have resulted from) decided to tell Sydneysiders how "disappointed" he was that people went to the beaches (they just re-opened). Then he says the 1.5m social distancing rule will probably "have to stay" until there's a vaccine found. (The fact he thinks there will be a vaccine is hilarious).

He's really the dumbest motherfucker on the planet. Still listening to the WHO for advice. Still can't work out studies the world over have said that it has a low CFR. At the same time as saying this, this dipshit can't even bring in a plan to test people going in and out of nursing homes, doesn't bother testing flight crew from Wuhan, just lets them walk around and do whatever they want.

We have tested a vast swathe of Sydney now. The active case rates are dropping. But sure. Aussies at the beach on a sunny and hot day is the problem.

Other states in Australia haven't recorded any new cases in days despite expanded testing, yet they're still on autistic lock downs. But "it's devastating" that a 90 year old died today. 30 year olds who have lost their super and life savings? "STAY THE FUCK HOME".

It's surely a naturally occurring virus collected for study, and released accidentally through incompetence.

But think like a Communist chinaman: if the virus fucks China over and ruins its economy they lose power, but use it as a weapon on the rest of the world fucking them over about equally or more then China still numbah one!

Why shouldn't there be a vaccine found?

Because a vaccine for other corona viruses have failed in the past.
They haven't not been working on them. They've been looking for corona virus vaccines for a long time - for livestock and humans. It also mutates at a very fast rate. It's similar to flu "vaccines" - more often than not they are not effective.
This isn't conjecture either, it's just reality. Every infectious disease doctors/professors I've spoken to in the past 5 weeks have agreed that a vaccine is a long way off (we are talking 5-10 years for a genuinely decent one), not going to be particularly effective if it's released or just plain not needed. As the weeks have progressed, the latter has become the more realistic option.

South Korea for example are operating on the belief that a vaccine will never manifest and even if it did, it will be as useful as flu vaccines. I.e not very. Flu vaccines aren't like smallpox, measles or TB vaccines.
Their take is that it's something to be managed like flu and malaria. There's a malaria vaccine, but it's next to useless. Treatment is the most effective way forward there and THAT (Malaria) kills more people per year world wide than Wuflu.

SK's take matches with a lot of other Asian countries - you cannot put life on hold for a vaccine that has little chance to manifest and even if it does, it won't be suitable or needed by the time it is. Only treatments are viable and needed.

Look, guys, we all know that the only thing that will ever work for this virus is something made in a lab last week named test substance YGQTH-7867 and a vaccine made by scientists who are probably doing lines of coke to work so fast. We owe it to grandma to injet her with an untested substance made by some Chinese guys three days ago. If you think people shouldn't be 100 pounds overweight, you're a terrible person, and if you want to try vitamin c, ivermectin, melatonin, vitamin D or anything else then you suck, you Drumpf supporting conspiracy theorist.

Excuse me, I'm doing Modafinil with a little bleach. Also, wait for 7870 at least, we're still getting unacceptable levels of mutations in our victims brave test volunteers with the 60's.

Remind me about how often you see a vaccine for the common cold?

There are already three "variants" of NCOV-SARS2, each with dozens of "sub-clusters." Or, in other words, There are already dozens upon dozens of variants of NCOV-SARS2. The odds of a Vaccine working on all of them, or even a large chunk of them, is zero. And that's just in what, 3 months? 6 if you believe it started in November? A Vaccine is 1-2 years out at LEAST. How many more varaints / strains / what hav eyou will there be before then?

No, the chance to stop this was when it first hit Wuhan, and China decided the rest of us could get fucked because if everyone's screwed by the Bat Soup Cough then no one -- especially not China -- has to look bad. Yeah, they fucked everyone else over, but that's why they pay good money to shills in the western media and their spy network. Remember, criticizing China is racist, CHINA NUMBUH WON.

So apparently one of SF's district supervisors is a real exceptional individual (well, likely more than one, but you know, one in particular) and he's been sperging out on Twitter at UberEats.
View attachment 1252910

Basically, SF passed some regulations that impacted Uber's ability to deliver food without losing money per transaction, and now this guy is upset that Uber isn't a charity and that Uber is allowing SF's government to look foolish when they are.
I looked up the median income for Treasure Island in San Fran. $59K a year. Sorry you live in the shittiest city with the highest cost of living, I guess. Cry more.

edit to add: Our news stories about the pandemic are all aggressively highlighting the fact that black people get it more. To the point that one official JUST SAID that it has nothing to do with individual actions, it's the systemic, institutional disparity that's the cause. Jesus fucking Christ man, you mean to tell me shoving fast food in your gob and disregarding social distancing has NO impact? Fuck off with that shit.

I'm going to take the unpopular position and defend the TikTok hospital workers.

Most of these people are facing furloughs and/or reduced workloads thanks to the shutdowns. Outside of major cities, hospitals are receiving much less patients and workflow. Unless someone can prove to me that the healthcare workers in those videos were doing so while patients were left attended, I could care less that a few bored CNAs felt the desire to act as hooligans on a shitty ChiCom video media site.

I disagree it seems insulting to have so much joy in the middle of chaos and death. I get morale boosting, but we have actual issues like patients dying and ppe shortages, after a day of work I find all my joy sapped because I just simply can't take it anymore.the the way we're handling things is simply unacceptable. It's okay to be upset and angry, God damn I'm so sick of the cheering, yes obvious sheeple cheer some more as we go walk in towards our death I'm sure that boost of positivity is going to help me if I get sick enough that I'm hooked on a machine to live. Yes Cuomo-senpai enjoy your high life quarantine while I struggle to find fucking toliet paper and don't even get hazard pay. After 12 or so hours of working non stop in make shift ppe. I know it's so hard for the elite to suffer with their gourmet meals and spacious mansions, I'm sorry I'm pissed. next pandemic I'm out.

Counterpoint: it only takes about thirty seconds of contemplation to realize how unbelievably terrible that makes them look.
