Infection2020 is having problems atm, some numbers updating and others not.

Masks aren't required in my state yet. Won't be surprised if they are at some point. The Columbus mayor wants a state requirement.
Mayor of Columbus wants a state mask requirement

Here's his reopening criteria.

1. A statewide requirement that masks be worn outside of homes “for the foreseeable future.”
2. More testing capacity from local health-care providers.
3. More swabs and test kits.
4. Clear guidance on mass gatherings for the next three to six months at least.
5. Clear guidance and “support” on managing the virus response at long-term care facilities.

My state has a mask wearing ordinance too, but I'm not sure the extent to which it's being legally enforced. My store has signs all over that mention the mask ordinance and make announcements about it every half hour, but we were told by corporate that we're not allowed to actually refuse entrance without a mask. Some workers and customers have said they are going to complain to authorities that we let people in without masks, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

I see very few people without masks in the store though. It's very rare to see someone without one entirely. I am not really sweating the occasional non-mask wearer because half the people who do wear them do it improperly anyway, they might as well not bother.

A lawyer is suing our governor over the mask order. Even though I think wearing masks is a good idea, I think it's good to consider whether it violates civil liberties. Back in February my husband and I were talking about enforced mask rules and he said it would never happen in the U.S. because it would be deemed unconstitutional, I was more cynical and said it would happen anyway and people would just end up suing and we'd find out where the chips lay.
My state has similar laws, but it is impossible to get a mask anywhere.

Thank fuck someone has some sense. Healthcare workers aren't fucking robots and taking a minute out of their day to do something fun and lighten their spirits is going to have a positive effect on morale. Right now it's the morale of healthcare workers that matter most, IMO. If it makes them laugh, let them do it.

You've got a problem with their sense of humour? I don't give a shit, because I don't see you on the frontlines, I see you on Twitter posting from your comfy chair at home.
Anyone that uses TIK TOK, deserves to be mocked and laughed.

Yeah, we used to carry surgical masks and respirators but all our stock is being diverted to the healthcare system and I assume other stores are the same. Our order says any face covering is fine though, and specifically says to not use n95s and to leave them for healthcare (not that they're easy to find anywhere, although I've heard some Chinese owned businesses in the hood had some for awhile)

Most people here wear homemade cloth ones, but I've been surprised to see a lot of respirators too, not sure how so many people got their hands on them, I guess those ghetto stores bought up a ton. I saw one guy wearing a bra on his face but otherwise not a lot of weird masks like you saw in China.

Thanks to this thread I was able to buy a bunch of n95s and kn95s in January.

Michigan's last frost date is in late May, if they try to keep the garden centers locked up longer than that the gardeners are going to start composting those in charge.

/r/coronavirus is still full of twatwaffles. So many posts like, "I saw a lady at the grocery wearing a mask and as she was returning to her vehicle she touched her mask to take it off and how selfish of her she has now put me in danger somehow!"

Humans are annoying me a lot lately.

So does this virus have long-term effects? And is it confirmed that you can't get it again/spiking up again after recovering? I'm not seeing the "guy gets Coronavirus 'again' because his test was negative in the first place" stuff lately.

I rated you horrifying not because of your story but because you were on reddit. Of course the pretentious dickbag hivemind would be up in arms about everything.

The WHO just published another one of their bullshit "There is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection." studies.

You know, I still wonder why WHO still does this. A huge majority of people know its bullshitting long ago. So what's the point?
Anyway, if people already have antibodies, does it really fully stop future infections or just make the body know how to handle it on the future like a cold? I'm not a medical expert at all.

No one really knows yet for sure, but I doubt it would be permanent like with chicken pox. The OG SARS is like 2-3 years so my guess is it would be more similar to that.

Chinese cheerleading and justifying their heavy-handed response. Locking people into their homes until the virus is completely gone is only justifiable if reinfection is assured if you let them out. It upsets the whole idea of using herd immunity to beat the virus.

It also gives China an easy out when it inevitably returns. "China had solved the problem until those evil round-eye westerners made the virus mutate then reintroduced it to us. If only they cared for the world like the glorious Communist Workers Party to weld their people into their apartments for a month and throw the bandits found in public into a gulag."

The best answer is "it depends"; antibodies to viruses generally provide some form of temporary immunity to the virus, but the degree and duration vary wildly. Some viruses don't reoccur in patients for decades after the antibodies are present; others are just a couple of years. Also, some viruses have multiple strains, and the antibodies for one don't necessarily confer immunity to the others, so if there are multiple strains of COVID-19 floating around, it might not help.

Honestly, the WHO probably doesn't have any knowledge of which scenario is the case in this situation, and likely won't for a while, so it's likely technically a correct statement. It's just a completely useless statement, since we don't know that it doesn't confer some form of immunity either. In other words: it's probably not a wrong statement, just a deliberately fear mongering one.

Incredible. Guess I may get some free eats starting in about six weeks. Maybe. 🤣

They probably won't hand out any meal tickets for In-And-Out Burger, or Round Table Pizza. Likely for some shit I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.

I see what they did there:

AOL:
600% of the federal poverty level, which is $74,940 for an individual and $154,500 for a family of four. They also must have either been exposed to the virus, have a high risk for exposure or a compromised immune system.

A qualifying senior will get up to $66 per day for three meals at local restaurants that meet certain criteria.

covid-19 trip report:

IT SUCKS.

Week ago I had extreme localized pain on the top of my head and I was like oh Christ I wonder which patient infected me. That was the first symptom. Anosmia, tachy. SOB three days after. Got dc'd yesterday and it's back to work.

At least nobody cared about me ordering midaz for myself.

Australia has now reached the frighteningly high total of 83 dead from Coronavirus, and pressure is slowly growing to reduce some of the social isolation stuff, as the current infection rate hovers around 10-20 per day.

Queensland announced today that from next week, they will be able to drive, sit at the beach, have a picnic, and shop for nonessential items, as long as they stay within a 50 km radius of their homes.

Western Australia is increasing limits on gatherings to 10 people.

The NRL is to resume in May, so that bogans can watch grown men molest each other's asses while screaming, and the AFL is in talks to relocate teams from the plague-riddled wastes of Victoria, Queensland and NSW to the civilised states, such as South Australia.

In addition, elective surgery has resumed, and schools are slowly reopening.

Schools won't reopen if the unions have anything to do with it.
And in NSW we had Brad "Health" Hazzard and that nutjob Neil Mitchell from 3AW telling Sydney they're "arrogant and selfish" for going to the beach - which was not in droves and it was limited to 6-9am.

It gives the veneer that things are getting better. Things won't be better when you have idiots banking on virus vaccines.

@LegoTugboat you downloaded your tracking app like a good Australian, yet?
