It's the Trap of Furry. No, not that kind of Trap.
It's actually kind of hard to get out when all your friends are at least somewhat into it. Compounding this, the earlier eras of Furry actually had much more room for older folks who just wanted to see art/porn/stories about furry topics. Now it's all teens and tweens and mandatory fursuiting and everyone trying to be a Youtube superstar. What must make it worse is as the sane people get out you're left with a stronger, more pure level of sheer autism in the elder cohort. All you're left with in your age bracket are people hiding from real life and middle aged NEETs.

And with that sheer level of autism comes an insane level of sensitivity, which is driving away both older folks, and anyone not interested in immature behavior. I lowkey think that part of that invites pedophiles into the mix as there's a void of more mature and level-headed people willing to poke their head out.
That all said, that's presuming there is a single person that's a functioning, mature, and level-headed adult.

I have heard that she used to be a loyal lackey of Dragoneer when she was an admin at FA; she got her ass kicked over supporting some of his more egregious bullshit and in a fit of drama quit, then caused more drama by turning against him. But I figure there has to be far more stories as she always seems to be being dramatic about something or other.

I have seen a couple of his performances from way back and honestly? He never was that good. He was just a novelty act and the novelty came from someone doing furry fandom reared comedy; anyone else could come along and do it (and has). Makes me wonder how much of his ‘career’ was there only because Conway was propping him up.
That it is. And in a weird way it kind of makes me think of the old classic villains from Scooby Doo, of all things. You had someone who has a costume and a mask that makes them look impressive, scary, and even interesting, but it turns out that your monster is nothing but some pathetic person who’s over-invested in some ridiculous desire or goal.
You unmask them and you find out there’s really nothing inside.
I can see some of that in 2, and I’m reminded also of Califur in 2015 (I think) were Dustmeat revealed that despite being a guest of honor, people didn’t even know who she was, and she couldn’t even fill the room at her “meet the guest of honor“ event. While the other guest of honor, a fursuit maker, had people spilling out into the halls.
It’s just the same with 2 once you took his fancy outfit off, you just find a sad, broken person underneath.

I'd like to point out how too many furries for some reason think "anthro" means "humanoid with animal features" and not "human-related". I bet they think anthropology is study of anthropomorphic animals too.
This whole maneuvering is pathethic, Kothorix did a similar thing before and retreated back to old dragon fursona in a week. These people like all the dumb bullshit furries produce but also have some delusions it's a some sort of coherent organized group with hierarchy and not just a loose assembly of fetishists and cliques of maladjusted weirdos, so they are fighting windmills trying to create an alternative to existing "movement".

Furry was always a mixing pot, and like many communities depends on who you surround yourself with. At the same time, trying to cosy into a circle without any issues and then ignore all of the issues within the fandom as a whole because you aren't seeing them yourself is a problem. It's a good thing in a way that some folk want to try and clean up the shit that is in the fandom, but it's going to be impossible to get it squeaky clean. That's just humanity.

This isn’t the first time he tried to rebrand and reimagined part of the fandom by using the term anthros; he tried this with that whole Antheria convention debacle a ways back, he just wasn’t as militant about it then as he is here.
Furry is furry, 2; putting the same degeneracy, drama and crap in a shiny new package doesn’t change the trash inside.

Good point to bring that up. I think the tagline was 'anthropomorphics evolved', and there was a solid feeling of 'we're better than you scum', especially with relation to the SoCal scene.

For those who don’t give a shit and don’t want to go to Disney animator/Zootopia animator Joaquin Baldwin’s Twitter, the animated GIF he created changes the word “anthro” to “altfur”. Showing Baldwins complete lack of self-awareness and virtue signaling, since one of the most popular trailers for Zootopia featured the word “anthropomorphic“ prominently, and it’s kind of stupid to demonize the term and its abbreviation anyways
But that’s Baldwin for you. He’s going to play the antifa fiddle hard now that Zootopia is starting to fade into history and he needs to stay popular with his newfound butt buddies.
(Not that I disagree that 2 is a complete dick, and this whole idea of trying to make his own fandom is stupid, but Baldwin is a furry kissass anyways, so... )

I don't think 2 has the conviction to be an altfur. He just goes along with whatever political ideology will tolerate his edginess. For a long time, it was leftists, but as times change, now it's right-wing weirdos. I'm wholly convinced that's the entire reason he's hitched his wagon onto the conservative furry train. He wants to go back to the way things were where he could do his poor man's George Carlin shtick and have people tell him that he's good at what he does.

He was very instrumental in Antheria. I think, however, that no matter how he feels about 2's crusade, he's going to keep his yap shut. If he was going to go to bat for 2 it would've been to keep him 'in' at AC. Now the gryph's clout is just too low to stick your neck out for.

His schtick is being Very Politically Incorrect and always has been. Throughout the nineties and most of the zeroes, that meant largely left wing views that resonated with a mostly left wing audience. Over the course of the Obama presidency, the left ascended to full sociopolitical dominance, and suddenly being politically incorrect was for shitlers, oh also the right wing came up with this whole idea of "political correctness" anyway to pretend they're oppressed it's a stupid concept shut up about it.
2 was faced with either changing his dynamic or changing his audience, it's pretty easy to see why he picked the audience... furries are easy, whatever their politics are. Unfortunately he thought his place in the Inner Circle was secure because of his connections, but it was really in large part because he held the "correct" opinions to pass along... if he was still getting up onstage ranting about the "proper" things, doubt anyone would have bothered ousting him from his position in the inner circle and his cushy con gigs even as his audience dwindled and his jokes grew ever more stale. After all, people with far worse reputations and rumors of much, much worse behavior have continued to be held in prominent positions in the nerd con circuit let alone the furry one, because social outcasts of any sort will turn a blind eye to almost anything for the sake to spend a weekend feeling like the "in crowd" and throwing their money at catered-to-taste merch.
