I am sure there's a hereditary component to pedophilia. Many pedophiles were abused as children themselves or grew up in households where pedophilia was common and encouraged. The question about outlier sexual behavior though comes back to the nature/nurture question and the fact that despite decades of searching no one has found a Gay Gene or a Pedo Gene or a Tranny Gene or a Bisexual Gene. Or even a sequence of genes. They just find a series of genetic markers that correlate to certain behaviors.
The other thing too is how do you get people to stop acting out these behaviors? Decades of conversion therapy have proven that you cannot pray the gay away. The ultimate Pedo Patrol is to castrate pedophiles because they cannot be trusted to control themselves so you need to make them impotent. Therapy is now offered to sex offenders but I don't know how well that actually works. I'm willing to bet it doesn't take. Christianity insists that everyone can be saved but then the real world gives us these problems where people are simply unable to change their behavior.
So what do you do with them?
It's a thorny question and its one of those things that runs afoul of how we handle civil liberties and freedoms in the civilized world. Our societies depend on humans abiding by social contracts. MGTOWs, PUAs, red pillers, and even to some extent MRAs (though I have a great deal more sympathy for them than anyone else on the list) just encourage selfish and narcissistic behavior that you usually find in Muslims when they're justifying their cultural pedophilia and why raping children is good and blah blah blah Muslim blather.
These groups try to hold their cute little revolt over people's heads like a threat, they feel they aren't respected or liked so they broadcast their threats to the world. Reeeee I wanna take away women's right to vote, reeeee let's lower the age of consent to 4 years old, reeeeee no one loves me so I'm gonna shoot up a yoga studio. And then you have the line of useful idiots and flag wavers crying crocodile tears because boohoo Jimothy LeNigger wouldn't have been a pedophile if only the mean old feminazis had fucked him, wahwahwah. It makes sense; it's very typical idiot male behavior to try and intimidate people into doing what they want and then when it doesn't work they just scream and sperg and shit even harder, and when that intimidation tactic doesn't work then they retreat into butthurt and prison gayness.
But the secret of MGTOW and all the others is that they're perfectly capable of functioning in society if they want to. Even with all the rampant feminazism everywhere. Millions of men manage to do it every day without raping a child or buying child porn or driving assault vans into crowds while screaming STACYYYYYYY or whatever. The excuse of MGTOW et al., that feminazis have made their lives unbearable, is a blatant lie. They're perfectly capable of doing so, they just refuse to do it because they're unable to see past their own wants and desires.
That's why I drew the comparison between them and troons. Ultimately the child rape and molestation that both groups crave is about their narcissism and about wanting to destroy something innocent to make themselves feel better. It's also why that acquaintance you mentioned had a father who decided to groom his wife into being an alcoholic and raped a little girl. It's why your acquaintance decided that he wants to try hitting on girls 10 years younger than he is. (And watch that age gap preference widen more and more the older he gets and his hair starts falling out.) It's narcissism and a flat rejection of reality. It's a small time delusion. These people can sort-of function in the real world but they will never be able to form meaningful relationships with others. I suspect that they will never understand why and they can never be rehabilitated either. The narcissism and self aggrandizement is too strong. Part of growing up and maturing is seeking out people who are on your level and can relate to your experiences. When you get married you make a promise to hold each other up, teach each other, and learn from each other, and treat each other with respect. Chasing perpetually younger girls is antithetical to that, and they know it. It's one thing to admire a cute young girl that was exactly your type when you were in college; its another to try dating her especially as you get older and older.
