That video... not to be That Guy or anything, especially since we know New York is a big pile if WTF right now buuuut.... things around the country are starting to open up. The fear is waning. What might make people scared again? A video where an earnest young woman "tells us what is going on?" That might work.

The battery in my truck was dead yesterday, it's been in there since I bought her new a decade ago, so I went to Canadian Tire to pick up new battery and a quart of motor oil and I'd wanted to get a little bottle jack for the wife's car to replace the shitty little scissor jack that came with it for a while now.

Canadian Tire was packed. Everyone just buying whatever. The store had physical distance rules in place, was limiting the number of people in the store at once and had plexiglass in place at the checkouts, but outside of the markers in the checkout line, no one, customers or employees were following physical distancing rules.

Our restrictions have been more permissive when it comes to retail than a lot of places. Things like video game and book stores are closed, but general electronic, hardware, department, office supply and grocery stores have remained open and selling whatever. Every time I've gone out, everyone is doing whatever, not worrying too much about distancing, 95% of people not wearing masks, I see groups of teenagers beating around together when I go out for a walk, I see roofers working on people's roofs ignoring distancing rules, yet in the last two weeks we've only had 17 cases total with just two in the last ten days. It doesn't make sense that it wouldn't be spreading here but it would be in places with stricter lockdown measures.

Gatherings of more than five, funerals and weddings have essentially been banned. Our only public transport is a bus that operates on an hourly schedule and is only used by retards and people on welfare. There are very few apartment buildings. Something like 75% of the cases in the province came from a single funeral. We have just 36 active cases now. New Brunswick, Saskatchewan and Manitoba which are similarly sparsely populated are seeing similarly small active caseloads.

Based on all those observations, unscientific as they are, if were a betting man, I would bet you need to spend some time with someone in an enclosed area like in an elevator or on public transport or a plane or a funeral or a sit down restaurant or an office to catch this. People have been blatantly disregarding general social distancing rules when out and about carrying out their daily business for weeks now and cases have not shot up. If you're likely to catch it passing someone in the street or in Wal-Mart our numbers make no sense.

*Edit* It sounds like people in less populated/dense US states are seeing the same thing.

Seen this?

small numbers of children presenting with a corona related syndrome that resembles atypical Kawasaki disease (Kawasaki is basically acute systemic vasculitis and symptoms closely resemble acute adenoviral infection.)

interesting, and will be interesting to see the media/public reaction.

That sounds like just a very extreme inflamatory response, probably due to citokine storm. Still worrying if more keep happening. I heard no reports like that but I've just asked, if I hear anything I'll update.

Honestly what makes me believe her is that we're seeing something very similar here. So, you know how Madrid is basically where ALL the fucking death is. Like above and beyond. And you know how we're now reopening bit by bit and expect a fucking second wave any minute now. Well the Junta de Madrid (PP, because of fucking course) has gone and said "welp. Our hospitals are empty now. No need to renew any contracts!" And fired pretty much fucking everyone, literally going to the normal, non-emergency levels just now. Everyone else has had the common fucking sense to, you know, wait a month for that. Not Diaz Ayuso! If madrid gets a big spike they're gonna have a LOT of dead people. All the unions are calling it, publicly and noisily, I was gonna warn you on today's news roundup but I forgot to do it.

Point is... Never underestimate just how stupid some politicians are.

When will we see the first riot of people who have had enough of this nonsense? I don't mean protests like up in Michigan l, I mean full on looting, smashing and all that destructive stuff.

I think there are two conditions that have to be met before things get violent:

1) They try to keep it in place over the summer.

2) Enforcement is strict.

If enforcement is not strict, but rules are in place, I think people will just not listen before they riot.

CA is enforcing the lockdown.

It's anyone's guess as to whether white conservatives riot before Oakland though.

The Michigan governor is strongly encouraging people to forgo medical masks when going out in public, instead it's preferred that you cobble up a homemade one out of whatever you've got laying around. And cobble one you shall, or you're not entering through the pearly gates of your local breadline supercenter.

Romania will keep mandatory quarantine until the 15th of May, then practice social distancing with a slow, step by step reopening of factories, malls, businesses and anything related to public administration. Schools and universities are officially closed for good this semester, only 8th graders and 12th graders will return for the national exams in June, everything else will be resolved through online classes, like before. Universities are all having a hard time trying to find the best way for students to take finals , graduation and admission exams online.

They think Spain gets a net positive for being part of the EU and that Germany is doing things right therefore everyone should aspire to do things like Germany.
i never said we do everything right, our politics is a mess. but we do things that arent political right.

atypical Kawasaki
I think my dad had one of those. looked very good for a kawasaki and run well.

It'll take a lots of guts for Democrats to admit their faults face against Corona-chan in urban areas but they'll perceive it as a sign of weakness. https://www.americanthinker.com/blo...s_the_rot_in_americas_democratrun_cities.html

The Wuhan virus reveals the rot in America’s Democrat-run cities
By Andrea Widburg
Last Friday, Bret Stephens, of the New York Times, had an epiphany: Locking down America just because New York City is having problems is a bad idea. He thinks the problem is that New York is so densely populated. What he misses is that Mayor de Blasio's and Gov. Cuomo's policies exacerbated the virus. They are the poster boys for why Democrats should never have power.
To his credit, Stephens finally realized that the Wuhan virus is not an American problem. It’s primarily a New York problem, followed by a handful of other Democrat-run cities:
As of Friday, there have been more Covid-19 fatalities on Long Island’s Nassau County (population 1.4 million) than in all of California (population 40 million). There have been more fatalities in Westchester County (989) than in Texas (611). The number of Covid deaths per 100,000 residents in New York City (132) is more than 16 times what it is in America’s next largest city, Los Angeles (8). If New York City proper were a state, it would have suffered more fatalities than 41 other states combined.
Having figured this out, Stephens reached the next logical point:
Americans are being told they must still play by New York rules — with all the hardships they entail — despite having neither New York’s living conditions nor New York’s health outcomes. This is bad medicine, misguided public policy, and horrible politics.
What Stephens missed, and what matters for the political choices voters make in November, is that New York’s problem isn’t just population density. New York suffers from appalling political decisions at both the state and the local level.
Probably the worst decision governor Cuomo made was to force New York’s nursing homes to accept people who tested positive for the Wuhan virus. The people most vulnerable to the Wuhan virus are the elderly and the sick, so this decision turned nursing homes into charnel houses:

Florida Unemployment update - they started finally clearing backlog for claim payments...for April claimants rather than the large amount of people who claimed during March. Then closed the unemployment website for 4 days on Thursday last week. Which seems to have mostly been to remove the 2-week claim which was Executive Ordered out just over a week ago.

So you have people who started claiming 2 weeks ago paid, and people who claimed 5-6 weeks ago, that had to use the stimulus to get by and are already in a situation where rent/bill time is coming again.

Kicker? They've suddenly declared a lot of those March claimants are not going to get benefits, at least on the website. Most of these people should at least be elligible for the CARES $600 a week, but that being tied up in the state benefits was a horrible idea as the President tweeted. Though him following up that Democrat states are the ones sucking hardest is a bit... oof when Florida's struggling the most.

I get that DeSantis inherited a system that even he knows is a turkey, but it's...not the best look when people are parroting to each other that it was apparently "intended to fail" and then they lose their claims. He's supposed to be doing a press conference in 5 mins to address this thing.

My last frontier state is partially reopening today. I went to a nearby coffee shop this morning and the owner had decided to stick with doing to go orders only because of how ridiculous the new rules are (tables 10' apart, masks required for customers, reservations only). He mentioned that they ran the numbers and it just didn't make sense, and that a lot of his restaurant friends came to the same conclusion. I joked with him that in another week there'd be plenty of speakeasy restaurants opening and to share some passwords with me ;D

Masks are now required here, and I don't have one. Great. Luckily enforcement seems to be non-existent, otherwise i'd be looking to join whatever revolt is brewing more actively.

I'm still sick of this shit and likely already had it like most people. More and more people are out and about with no masks and ignoring social distancing completely.

On reddit (gah I know I'm retartled for still going there) they are already busting out the next phase of the narrative: look at some city in Japan that opened *too early* and now their cases are spiking again! WAAAHHHHH fml, people are going to continue to die from this! The numbers are no where near high enough to warrant a lockdown for everyone. WHY ARE PPL SO FUCKING DUMB! We've had months to calm down from the panic and look at the fucking numbers that keep getting revised down and down...

/spergatroid rant

The good to come out of this pandemic is that this is now Cuomo's legacy. He and DeBlasio will be forevermore remembered as the fuckers who fucked up the Coronavirus response to such an outrageous degree that it will be spoke of in legend, years from now.
If I have to go to a hospital I am scrawling DO NOT VENT NO CONSENT in magic marker all over my chest.

When reports came out that the mortality rate of patients on ventilators was 80% and more I wrote my loved ones and made it clear I didn't want to be intubated because the odds of surviving this thing were higher otherwise in NYC. The idea that politicians would badmouth a treatment, even ban it because OrangeManBad is absolutely criminal. I hope Trump follows through on making hydroxychloroquine (edited to fix auto correct) OTC.

That woman in the video is "my friend says" but it sounds plausible given what we already know to be true. Cuomo and De Blasio are both shit, they are the main reason I am GTFO out of this shithole. Their bungling of this directly led to people dying. I've stated as much here several times. Both of them are grifters and I hope they become the subject of Federal criminal investigations that will drain them both of their ill-gotten money.

Edit: Cuomo doesn't know if the China virus came from Italy or his butthole, he needs to shut the fuck up.

FL's unemployment system sucks. I'm using the azarbucks to pay my staff. Probably not supposed to do that but oh well. HHS can fight me.

Nah.
True or not, if this video gets spread around it will just make NYC look stupid/evil.

More people dying of medical malpractice doesn't help the narrative that "COVID is super-cereal, you guyz!", especially after the CDC basically admitted they are listing any death with COVID as a COVID death and letting hospitals "assume" unknown deaths came from COVID.
I'm confident now the narrative is shifting towards the "Well have we considered the side effects, hrrrrmmm???"

So I have a theory

For the sake of argument Corona turns out to be no big deal. Democrats keep pushing lockdown dates back further and further regardless of this. Democrats push dates back past election. Democrats demand vote-by-mail and Republicans can't refuse because of optics. Cue mass voter fraud

Bonus tinfoil hat: Chicom and Americom are in cahoots and the Corona virus was spread on purpose according to communist world domination plan
