Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The FT has a pretty good tracker site with some decent visualisations of the data.

https://archive.vn/wip/ZoKbA

E.g. here you can see daily deaths have peaked and are in decline in places like NYC and London which are hotbeds of many forms of plague, including coronavirus.

For the sake of argument Corona turns out to be no big deal. Democrats keep pushing lockdown dates back further and further regardless of this. Democrats push dates back past election. Democrats demand vote-by-mail and Republicans can't refuse because of optics. Cue mass voter fraud

I'm glad you've already got an explanation for why Trump will lose in 2020.

NYC should be able to start to reopen in the next two weeks. It has to come in stages to prevent another big wave, but they’re reaching the point where it’s becoming safe again. Give it an extra week maybe, but they’ll be opening before June, or at least starting to.

Even then, you’re still going to need to have social distancing and mask wearing over the first month, just to be safe.

The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare finished analyzing the amount of corona deaths and according to their calculations the Swedish death toll is 10% higher than what the Public Health Agency claims (other than that they came to the same conclusions as the NHA when it comes to death demographics: predominantly old people dying, a slightly higher amount of men, most deceased were part of at least one risk group and most deaths so far have occurred in the Stockholm region) http://archive.is/u2QwW
The National Board of Health finds more dead in covid-19
The National Board of Health's register of causes of death in Sweden indicates that the number of deaths in covid-19 is higher than the figures of the Public Health Authority.

When the National Board of Health analyzes its statistics on causes of death, they discover more deceased in covid-19 than the Public Health Agency reports. This was stated at Monday's press conference on the pandemic situation in Sweden.
- We find about ten percent more people than has been found so far in the tasks of the Public Health Authority, says Mona Heurgren, Head of Department at the National Board of Health and Welfare.
TT: Ten percent is quite a lot more deaths than the Public Health Authority previously reported. Why are they taller?
- The big difference is that we also have cases that have not been laboratory tested, but where the responsible doctor has documented that there is a patient with covid-19.
The National Board of Health and Welfare is responsible for the official statistics on health, care and care and causes of death in Sweden. However, since the causes of death are reported according to specific routines and must be coded according to the World Health Organization WHO's regulations, healthcare has three weeks to submit the cause of death certificate. Therefore, it has been delayed before the figures became available.
Now the authority has started publishing statistics on people who have died of covid-19 on its website. The National Board of Health has now determined the cause of death regarding covid-19 in approximately 1,700 cases, and it is the analysis of these figures that the National Board of Health presented today. About 90 percent of the deceased were over 70; only 1 per cent under 50 years, and half of the deaths have occurred in Stockholm County. Most deceased have one or more known risk factors.
- The analysis shows that there are about ten percent more deaths than the Public Health Authority had registered at the same time. The statistics that the Public Health Authority has so far registered are otherwise very well in agreement on an overall level. By that I mean who is affected, age, sex and underlying illnesses. But we have a certain difference, which is the number of people who die as a result of covid-19 until today, says Mona Heurgren.
Deputy state epidemiologist at the Public Health Agency Anders Wallensten points out that there will always be a certain difference between different registers:
- One way to see the total number of deaths is to then look at mortality, where you catch cases that may not even have been diagnosed by a doctor. We will have different secure data in different parts of this development.
The important thing, says Wallensten, is to have consistent reporting that can be evaluated continuously over time.
According to the statistics presented by the Public Health Agency today, a total of 2,274 people have died in the suites of covid-19 in Sweden so far. This is an increase of 80 people over the past 24 hours. The updated figures also show that a total of 18,640 have been confirmed to be infected by the corona virus in Sweden.
Wallensten emphasizes that the numbers are likely to rise further when the deaths of the weekend are reported to a greater extent.
- The last days are incomplete and so it usually is after the weekends. So we'll see how this is corrected in the next few days, he says.
In the world, nearly three million have been confirmed infected and around 200,000 have died.
The number of people receiving or receiving intensive care due to covid-19 in Sweden is currently 1,353 persons. Right now, 543 patients are receiving covid-19 intensive care.
- Today we report 1,073 available IVA sites in the country, says Johanna Sandwall, crisis management manager at the National Board of Health and Welfare.
Still, there is a rather uneven burden on health care in the country. Therefore, efforts are being made to distribute patients between regions.
- With regard to protective equipment, there is still a critical impact in some regions.
Protective clothing should be the most lack of, she says.
The Swedish Agency for Social Protection and Preparedness (MSB), together with Kantar Sifo, has investigated people's behavior during the corona crisis through surveys.
- A challenge for everyone right now is endurance, then it becomes important to follow how people perceive the situation, says Svante Werger, special adviser at MSB.
Mainly people worry about the economy, according to the survey.
- This has been the case throughout the investigation period, which has been going on for a month, says Werger.
Many also worry that unemployment will increase and that companies will have serious problems.
- The concern for the welfare system is also getting high figures.
The fact that care should not have sufficient capacity is also something that many are concerned about, according to the survey.
However, the worries seem to decrease somewhat during the measurement period, says Svante Werger.
The state epidemi(l)ologist also says now that the planned data gathering of corona data that they were supposed to have started by now has been postponed indefinitely because of reasons. http://archive.is/pkNFi
Tegnell pauses Swedish corona data collection

Three months after the virus was classified as a socially dangerous disease, there is no technical solution in operation to collect data on corona symptoms. "Disaster," says Jan-Eric Litton, professor at KI. According to Anders Tegnell, the start is now postponed indefinitely.

Jan-Eric Litton has been associated with Karolinska Institutet for 40 years and is a leading international expert in biomedical computer technology. From 2014 to 17 he was Director General of the European Biobank Coordination Organization. At KI, he shares work space with former state epidemiologist Johan Giesecke.

During the corona crisis, Jan-Eric Litton himself studied the statistical data used by the Public Health Authority for his recommendations to the government. He makes the same assessment as 22 researchers at DN Debat who recently claimed that Swedish death rates per day and one million inhabitants are at the same high level as in Italy.

- The researchers were criticized by Anders Tegnell but were right. The death toll in Sweden is closer to Italy than the Public Health Agency has wanted to admit, says Jan Eric-Litton.

Anders Tegnell tells SvD that the researchers' figures were "wrong when they went out with it" in mid-April.

But now, when we know the facts of the backlog in Sweden during this period, was it the same level in Sweden and Italy then or was it not?

- Yes, you don't have that in my head, so I can't say yes or no, answers Anders Tegnell.

Jan-Eric Litton asks why the Public Health Authority and MSB have not started a digital collection of corona data when the government classified the virus spread as public and socially dangerous as early as February.

- I think it's a complete disaster, absurd. Failure to test all suspected infected leads to loss of control over the spread and number of symptoms.

At this point, Anders Tegnell is now giving a new message to SvD: the corona data collection has been postponed until further notice and the previously planned pilot trial in a limited area will not be carried out as it must either be done across the country or not at all.

- It is not possible to post this on the web so that it is only visible in one region, then it will be across the country.

That you have not started is criticized - do you see any disadvantage of not collecting data, which you have now discussed for a long period?

- No, I see no downside to that. We have pretty good control over what this looks like through the regions. We have landed in this situation is not a good time to start. There is also a certain risk of causing concern in the population by going out and asking questions, says Anders Tegnell.

Already in 2007, Jan-Eric Litton offered 14,000 Stockholmers an opportunity to self-report flu symptoms. The data collected were combined with postal code coordinates to get a picture of how the disease spread. At a few weeks' intervals, the map images clearly showed the spread of more and larger red spots in infected areas.

In mid-March he now took a similar initiative in the company Vizzdat where he is also active and chairman of the board.

- We quickly developed an app where you self-report and grade symptoms.

Why did you do that?

- We have been working for a few years and are developing medical research apps that were used by several groups at Karolinska to collect data for research purposes. I started to worry about the situation in Europe and then we did it over a weekend.

How does it work?

- You fill in man or woman and age. We brought a GPS coordinate to know where the person is. In the UK, such an app has become a huge success.

As in many other cases, the offer was rejected by the Public Health Authority on the grounds that the authority must comply with the Public Procurement Act (LoU).

- Then I was going to pieces. After that nothing happened. It is sad when many people want to help and have knowledge, says Jan-Eric Litton.

MSB states for SvD that they were prepared to start the project to collect corona data.

- The Public Health Authority has chosen to pause the development due to reactions from regions and county councils. MSB listens to the Public Health Authority and has worked with a digital tool according to their wishes. Now you do not want that solution so now we have to wait for another possible message, says Anna Lindbäck, press officer.

So I have a theory

For the sake of argument Corona turns out to be no big deal. Democrats keep pushing lockdown dates back further and further regardless of this. Democrats push dates back past election. Democrats demand vote-by-mail and Republicans can't refuse because of optics. Cue mass voter fraud

I'm glad you've already got an explanation for why Trump will lose in 2020.

If they deem it unsafe to vote in person and they allow it to be done online or through your phone the bernie bros and liberal arts kids might actually vote instead of talking about voting on twitter then being a no show to the polls because they were too lazy and would rather stay at home browsing twitter and eating avocado toast with their cats.

Got to love Sweden.

"Oh my god, nearly all our crime is refugees and foreigners! Quick! stop taking that data!"

"Oh my god our covid responce has been a fucking disaster! Quick! Stop taking that data!"

Meanwhile, the UK Government has done two things today.

The first is Downing Street just fucking gives up with the useless lobby, and are now asking the public to submit questions. Which matches with, at a time when watching TV in the mornings is all people can do Good Morning Britain's ratings have collapsed by an eye watering 48%.

The other is they're pushing the winddown tests again, with some of the data starting to look good, with the UK 7 day rolling average starting to drop. It's hopefully likely the next fortnight will see us begin lifting lockdown.

My neighbour's brother now has Corona-chan, making them the third person they know to have got it.

The absolute state of Sweedish Politics sumarized in one post. Fuck me that's horrifying.

Dr. Campbell video. He mentions how when lockdown lifts you can go for a walk with 'your girlfriend or your boyfriend' but he fails to mention that some non-binary entities might want to go for a walk with one of more other non-binary entities in their fuck swarm, or in other fuck swarms.

The amount of stuff that can cause hyperferritinemia is large as fuck. I wouldn't look too much into it. My best guess is it's whatever treatment they used.
For non science kiwis, serum ferritin is what’s called an acute phase reactant, which means it does raise in a lot of disease and even injury processes. Normal varies with age sex and ethnic origin but women usually have an upper limit at 200microgram/l and men 300.

About 1-2k ng/mL
I know ferritin is released during a cytokine storm but these pts are presenting with levels like this.
That’s high. Just regular COVID patients? With no septic shock? We use microgram/ L and that’s the same thing... (?)
you do sometimes see really high levels here because haematochromatosis isn’t that rare (the Irish again. There are all sorts of interesting genetics there.) but that’s usually not much over 1k. levels over 2k would be septic shock or similar.
Anything else weird with the labs? Has anyone published good lab workups since the ones from Wuhan I wonder?

When will we see the first riot of people who have had enough of this nonsense? I don't mean protests like up in Michigan l, I mean full on looting, smashing and all that destructive stuff.

When the power grid goes down and the Walmart and Target trucks stop running because truckers don't want to wind up with their brains decorating the side of their rig like Reginald Denny.

So, good news from here in the great Southwest (Arizona). Wife has been recording these daily since the start of all this from the official AZ website. We're seeing a trend.

Date/Total Deaths

4/21 - 208 deaths
4/22 - 229 (+21)
4/23 - 249 (+20)
4/24 - 266 (+17)
4/25 - 273 (+7)
4/26 - 275 (+2)
And today?
4/27 - 275 (+0)

I don't doubt there will be a few more, but the numbers don't lie. We're beating this motherfucker. Exactly how, I dunno, but we've been in lockdown for nearly a month. Time for that to be over and get on with our lives. Our governor Ducey is "supposed to make a statement" this week as technically, our lockdown was until April 30. If he extends it, based on the numbers we are now seeing, people will just fuck him off and do as they please.

That's a bit cunty. I know knew a couple older folks who had dope ass pensions coming their way but then the fuck whits that owned the companies gambled and/or squandered all that money away and left the pensioners penniless outside of SS and savings. Just because things worked out for you, doesn't mean it did for countless other people who prepared and did their due diligence.

Yup. Enron's a prime example. I'd have tried all the top Enron management as economic terrorists. There are others.

In some cases, the Feds take over the pension.

What happened to the people you knew wasn't the retirees' fault. My comment is aimed at those who had the same opportunities I had and didn't take them.

When the power grid goes down and the Walmart and Target trucks stop running because truckers don't want to wind up with their brains decorating the side of their rig like Reginald Denny.

So far the people protesting have been restrained. By nature, most are the type who normally support law enforcement and have a certain level of trust in government.

But push people far enough, leave them no options to express their concerns peacefully, and they will find other ways to express their anger. For example, our state's Fuhrer Newsom has denied a group a permit to demonstrate at the state Capitol on Friday, May 1. What if they demonstrate anyway? Could happen.

One of the biggest, if not the biggest casualties of the ChiCom Flu is the trust in government, at all levels, and law enforcement. We've seen law enforcement violate Americans' First Amendment rights to worship, protest, and to express themselves. The Feds are getting involved, but the acts themselves have been publicized, and people know who to blame. Anger is growing. Believe the next time something like this happens there will be rather less cooperation and more pushback from the get-go.

Thought the NHS was obsessed with mmol/L. But yes it's the same.

So, lab work. The Chinese studies are correct. In fact we could probably dispense with the testing since the lab values for COVID-19 pts are so specific.

Massively elevated ferritin and IL-7. Low albumin. Low lymphocyte count. If you see those numbers pop up it's not really going to be anything else.

You say that, but if anything I've seen nothing but the opposite just about everywhere I look. It's genuinely disturbing how brainwashed people already are to be used to this extremely quick and drastic change in lifestyle. Any hint of somebody suggesting movement to open things up again and they're immediately branded as selfish idiots at best to criminals worthy of the death sentence at worst. And the TV ads you see anymore is shit straight out of every dystopian film out there with lines like "the new normal" and celebrities telling us commoners that we're "fighting the good fight" by being good little livestock and staying locked in our pens.

I'm sure there's a silent majority that's chomping at the bit to actually get life back to normal, but the bootlickers are screaming loud as all hell for the time being.

MedCram video on blood clots, strokes and myocardial infarctions in COVID19 patients

https://archive.vn/7MwzL

This is a very interesting video if he's right. He thinks that COVID patients die of oxidative stress before they get ARDS. I don't know enough biochemistry to know if he's right but it's kind of interesting that it would explain why diabetics tend to get COVID worse than non-diabetics if, as he claims, diabetics are already suffering from oxidative stress.

The story about brain blood clots reminds me of The Andromeda Strain.

It is just a waiting game for normies to change their mind to the reopen side. I seen people in real life go from this virus is the worst thing ever to its just the flu over night just because a bill they couldn't afford came in the mail. It is gonna get messy and leaders of their respective countries will need to decide on opening up or dealing with the mob martial law style.
