Ya know, the longer I spend on this thread the more I am absolutely MYSTIFIED how Sappy ever managed to get a freaking masters. Yes, I know--hand holding, coddling, musta been "second chances" out the wazoo, but still.....Sap hasn't got the brains god gave fruit flies. Just HOW? Is this one of the great mysteries of life that can never be answered? I'm boggled fam.

Maybe they gave it to her as part of a psychology experiment? "What happens if someone who is entirely unqualified gets a graduate degree?"

This has been discussed wayyy back in the thread, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Sapphire's POCD and fake csa ptsd come from actual attraction to children. It would explain the Michael Jackson deviantart era, why they stay away from kids at all costs now, etc. It has to be more than just POCD. They just seem like a no-contact pedophile in denial and blame their one known outburst of fucking with kids on a ghost.

I'm still of the opinion that it's less that she's attracted to actual children and more that she just wants a partner she can control completely, and since she's basically mentally stuck as a teenager, that leaves her with teenagers and people with developmental disabilities.

If she could get her hands on Adam Driver and make him low IQ, but not low IQ enough to make him mentally retarded, she fucking would.

Did she actually get it, or is this a lie? I have a hard time believing she actually even has one. Unless they gave it to her to get her to leave, or she was normal up until graduation and proceeded to lose her mind immediately afterward.

Staph: I'm not like those "my cat is trans" people! I'm actually sane!
Also Staph:

I think the last photo of her in this is one of the nicer ones. Her hair suits her that length and her bangs are a nice size. Glasses also suit her face and the colour makes her skin look healthier.
Anything other than the bowl cut suits Saph better. Hell, even short hair that takes a little effort to style would look better.

Part of me wonders if it's she has POCD because, for all her bluster, she's actually terrified of sex and intimacy, be it physical or emotional. Children are easier to relate to, they're less complicated (and yes, it feels really wrong to type that), as opposed to the complex relationships adults have. Staph can't navigate those. "Puppy love" is easier. She's so emotionally stunted that the concept of a mature adult relationship terrifies her. It's easier to relate to children, who hold hands on the playground and 'break up' with each other and have a new 'girl/boyfriend' the next day.

Did she ever say she was triggered by "A Marriage Story"? I know she said she saw it because Adam Driver was in it. Just curious because there's that huge screaming fight scene and since raising voices cause her to have 'Nam style flashbacks.

I know she didn't like it, but I don't think she was triggered. Don't you know, all mental problems go away when in the presence of husbando!

I think about this all the time. How the hell does someone so averse to consequences and work actually get a Master's degree?
even more reason to be not-proud of my own haha

FWIW, I've heard that depending on the college, it's actually much easier to get you Master's degree than your undergraduate degree. Part of it is because the professors are aware that most of their students have jobs and lives outside of school and adjust their workload accordingly, while part of it is because master's programs tend to hyper-focus on the subject you're majoring in. I dunno if that's the case for ALL colleges, but that might explain why Steph has a degree.

Sappy also had to get her undergraduate degree first though. She's so unequipped to handle ANY aspect of college work. Criticism? HA! Pass the Purell. Motivation? Laziest creature ever. And in a field like social work. She's so self-absorbed. The devastation she could have caused is astounding.
I kinda sorta half believe they bought the damned degree..

Part of me wonders if she got some sort of accommodations due to whatever special ed issues she has. I know some colleges have student support centers, where, if you provide proper documentation, you can get things like extended time, print out/fill in the blank notes instead of having to take them yourself, reduced number of questions on exams, etc.

Again, I'm not saying it's ideal, but it does happen.

Edit: Grammar.

Oh yeah one hundred percent she used all the disability accommodations. Between that and her dad repeatedly throwing money at her problems it's easy to believe she slimed her way through. As much as I call her a tard for her behavior and impropriety, the "disabled" thing is mostly a put-on to cover for laziness and entitlement, and regurgitating information onto a test sheet (even if she didn't understand it that well) is within her ability. I'm not sure if invoking the tard aesthetic is a deliberate choice or not but it probably helped. Depending on the specific job social workers don't have to necessarily be smart but they have to respect others and at least pretend to have some level of empathy for their clients but Steph's shitty attitude and grossly inappropriate behavior disqualify her from the field.

Agreed, but a lot of folks seem more confused by how she specifically has a masters instead of...you know, having any degree at all. As it is though, she (somehow) has an undergrad degree, so it's not too much of a stretch for me to believe that she managed to get her masters.

That's probably it. Steph, to me, sounds like someone who requires a lot of hand-holding and absolutely cannot handle being left to her own devices. She might be better off if she had a fixed schedule and an aid to keep her on track, but even that's not certain since she doesn't seem too keen on actually changing anything.
