Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

I'd like to take this time to remind everyone of this gem:

[

Wu beat the odds!

For real though, it's obvious why she actually dropped out. The ballot access scam company she used last time to worm her way on to the ballot paper isn't operating during the lockdown, and Wu doesn't have anything like enough real support to get on the ballot any other way. Cockblocked by a virus.

The stuff about caring about anyone else's life just a steaming pile of horseshit. People are going to have to vote one way or the other, no matter who is on the ballot. Whether you are there or not makes no difference what so ever.

Also:

We were well on track to raise over $750,000 before the election was over, and possibly a million. We were racking up endorsements. All of this without accepting a dime of corporate money.

Nigga, what? You raised less than a quarter of million since September of 2018. When was this massive windfall about to come in? Can't even stop exaggerating her accomplishments even when it doesn't matter.

"Woman candidate simulator" horror/survival...

My question is do you get to play as Wu fleecing gullible donors? Or is it going to have like a five nights at freddys vibe where you're a scared homeowner constantly checking locks and entrances lest you run into the Wu-Wendigo who is coming for your wallet and soul.

"Woman candidate simulator" horror/survival...

He spelled it right twice in a row after literally years of calling himself a "canidate." So the first time wasn't just a fluke. That or he finally let autocorrect do its job instead of screaming "QUIT MANSPLAINING" at his phone.

Man, I didn't see this coming. I figured John would run the scam all the way to September, only to start over again a week later for his 2022 campaign when he inevitably lost. Pretty fucking hilarious that he tries to spin it as selflessly protecting people from the Wu Flu when the truth is probably what @Norvic said: he can't hire a company to harvest signatures for him, so he wouldn't end up on the ballot anyway.

I'll skip past the r/thathappened intro and pull some other choice quotes from his latest batch of lies:
Most of that money had been invested into a killer field operation.
From her FEC reports, any money John wasn't pocketing went to a few staffers/consultants who did nothing but fire out boilerplate tweets every so often. Then again, John thinks that waking up at the crack of noon to play video games all day is a hard day's work, so I guess that actually is a "killer field operation" in his mind.
We have enough signatures to easily get on the ballot

I’ve never been shy about picking fights that are hard to win.
I don't know if I want to call this true or not. On the one hand, he sure does tilt at windmills a lot, from Gamergate to the scampaign. On the other, he only ever engages in the safest arenas, and he never challenges anything out in the open, taking softball interviews and staying in his safe space behind his blue checkmark. He's a coward that pretends to be a valiant crusader, a slacktivist to the core.
You cannot turn your ethics off on Monday, and flick them back on Tuesday.
Considering the GG connotations, John probably shouldn't mention "ethics."
The biggest lesson I learned in 2018 is you cannot win a congressional election with digital alone. We tried this in 2018, doing amazingly well for a first time candidate and getting almost half the votes we needed to win.
Translated another way: "in what was effectively a two-man race, my opponent got three-quarters of the vote, so a clear majority did not want to vote for me." If you were actually a threat, the DCCC would bury you since they don't want another Squad situation. Also, pretty sure that if you went out in public more and people saw you for the shambling horror you are, you would have done even worse.
What makes this so difficult is letting this dream I’ve worked so hard for over three years pass. I’ve made over 50,000 calls to people. There have been weeks of sitting in my office fundraising until my brain turned to tapioca. [...] And after hours a day of pouring all my energy into strangers, far too often I’ve had nothing left over for my husband, my dogs and my friendships.

Math sperg time: I dunno how long political calls usually take, but let's assume two minutes per call to dial, wait for a ring, and leave a message, since most people ignore political calls anyway. Even if we assume he was doing phone calls every single day since he lost the election, it would come out to about three hours of nothing but phone calls all day every day (50k calls/600 days*2 minutes = 166 minutes). The number per day would be even higher since we know he didn't do much with the scampaign right away, making it even more doubtful he made anywhere near that many calls in total. I wouldn't be surprised if he counted robodialing as doing all the work himself though, that's definitely a John move.

Also, you'd think that he would at least have posted images of all these campaign events he's supposedly been doing this whole time. I can think of a couple token appearances he made (like driving his Porsche in a parade), but it sure doesn't scream exhausting campaign to me. It isn't helped by his constant tweeting about video and tabletop games, in which Frank appears basically all the time. I guess he has plenty of free time after all! Why doesn't everyone campaign? It's so much fun!
There are days I get done with campaign events, and my face hurts from smiling.
Well when you smile like this, I'm not surprised:

And one last one:
I’m not sure what’s next for me. I’ll be taking time to mourn and find my balance. I’ll let all of you know when I figure it out.
Should we start taking bets? Scampaign 2022? Becoming a nebulous "consultant?" Or will John finally quit all the larping and be content to sit on his ass and play vidya all day without having any pretensions of being anything more than the lazy dropout we all know he is?

so who's got COVID, Frank or Crash Rocket?

There is, as always with John, more going on than he admits in the Medium post announcing his resignation. The above tweets are completely out of tune with the Medium statement, which was clearly either not written by John or was so heavily edited as to be almost entirely someone else's work.

The above tweets sound bitter and resentful, the words of someone who has been forced to quit the race, probably by Frank. The Medium post, on the other hand, is filled with transparently false concern for the health of John's armies of voters, all of whom John would consign to screaming deaths by torture if their dying would get him into Congress.

John is certainly lying when he says he has enough signatures to get on the ballot. But is there any doubt that, left to his own devices, he would continue his campaign charade as a write-in candidate?

The floor is now open for speculation on who or what has forced John's resignation. Considering the subject at hand, no theory is too outrageous.

They have enough lies to be written by John. And a few grammar errors, to boot. But it undoubtedly was given a thorough going-over by someone else to make it sound more plausible than the likely first draft.

I'm going for the boring answer - no way to get enough names to get on the ballot, at least not without doing some of the hard work Wu has LARPed at doing, but never actually done, for the campaign. And no, John, turning up to give speeches in people's houses, watching a Star Wars film, and scaring people at a parade, none of those count as work.

But I'm still of the mind that John has found his perfect grift in running for office, and that when he can next justify doing so - likely November when Trump gets back into office - he will start his scampaign up and running again. Because nothing says 'Get Trump Out of Office!' like trying to unseat a long-term Democratic Party incumbent when you're a skinwalker like John.

But you know what, John? Take that call with Jake Alley he so kindly offered you. You've earned it.

It gives me a headache reading car repair technician Wu. O2 sensors for that car start at 20 bucks + 2hrs minimum labour at about 70/hr even though itll take a real mechanic 30 minutes. Total worst case cost 200 bucks with tax to get it done for you. 25 bucks on ebay if you do it yourself. I've done a couple o2 sensors in my lifetime it was never an event. Tell a real mechanic that you know how to replace an o2 sensor and see the kind of applause you'll get...

Last time I took my car in for work (clutch replacement) they mentioned that they'd found a faulty o2 sensor that had caused my check engine light that I mentioned to them

Only charged me for the part because he said 'its literally just a two minute job'. Also as for Wu bigging up one of the most important parts of a car, somehow that light was orange instead of flashing urgent red and i was assured it was no big deal really

Also I think that John just realised that he wpuld be utterly humiliated again and can't hide behind the 'first campaign run' excuse this time, so he seized upon covid being just too dangerous even if he totally would have won guiz
Also this way he can try it a third time without having two failed runs to answer to his donors about

In early march he tweeted that he needed 2,000 signatures but would like 3,000 to be sure.

The reason the scampaign is winding down might be because of Frank. I don't really know what campaign debt means but I would guess it means they take what's left to repay Frank and that might be in his best interest right now. His stock options dropped in value, he got laid off, was unemployed for a bit, Corona pummels the economy - maybe he feels that it would be fiscally irresponsible to give his man-wife another 50 grand to pretend to be a politician when a thousand bucks worth of Star Wars toys to have him larp as Darth Vader is cheaper and the outcome is the same: Wu stays at home and plays pretend.

If it was just Wu and Warren the scampaign would be probably keep idling, but this time they have people that doesn't work for sandwiches and weed money.

Shit, that's exactly what it is! That's a Lannister lion. I'm not sure if it's a full chair or just some sort of covering. That shows a surprising amount of common sense. God knows I wouldn't want John sitting for hours in unprotected furniture, unless I was planning to burn it.
Yes, how long have you been living as a woman, John?

shouldn't John's impassionate engineering side of his brain kick in to check his "lived experience" data collection method for perspective bias and N=1 sample size?

Yes, on the FEC filings the campaign is listed as having two loans from "Brianna" (which is to say, Frank).
It seems like they settled on 50 grand as the official total amount borrowed but it's sometimes been reported as 100. God only knows the truth.

I think it’s 100k total but half was loaned for the last campaign so they decided it no longer counts.

Brianna must loathe Robbie right now. She can’t say a thing against him. He’s openly gay, has a proven record of supporting trans rights, and is an actual infectious disease specialist during a pandemic. If she really believed anything she spews out, she would endorse him.
