Shit like this is why i never got into the games industry. Programmers and people that do the actual work get fucked but a dude that should be selling oranges on the side of the road gets paid.
That's quite a few businesses that have nothing to do with the games industry that can act like that.

It's nothing unique, it's general corporate incompetence. It's when you get bad people at the top, read up at what happened to Sears it's the same shit in business sectors like retail.

Let me elaborate, companies can go through brain drain. Good people can rise to the top of the company but then can't go any further and want more out of their careers so they get picked up by other companies and leave(they also sometimes take other good people with them to the new company). You can get bad people who just have the tendency to stick around who get promoted just because of seniority. Eventually the shit workers are in charge making galaxy brained decisions which winds up causing the company to crash.

Druckman chasing Amy out is an example of brain drain, she left for another job because she couldn't take his idiocy and also took other talent with her.

Prototype/Prototype 2 is not a good equivalence to this. Main character dude from Prototype was basically the fucking Thing, a completely alien creature that had consumed the memories of some random asshole and was acting in that dead guy's interests more or less because it didn't have anything better to do. It was never even remotely a good person, you caused wholesale death everywhere you went in that game and could devour random people for funsies. It going off the rails completely and being an antagonist was never going to be a surprise to anyone who'd played the original game.

Also, Prototype and Prototype 2 were good.

The Last of Us is one of the most overhyped things I have ever experienced and the fact it gets so much praise is a sign a lot of people who have played it have never seen a well written movie, read a well written book or even played an actually well written game.

Pretty much, it's why Bethesda Soft Works/Zenimax spent a lot of money fighting Masthead and Interplay to get all the Fallout rights.

Fallout 76 remains a curiosity to me, as its not really an MMO.

Zenimax has, all things considered, an excellent MMO studio with Zenimax Online who should've taken the Fallout IP and made their version of Fallout Online, following the same incredibly lucrative and well thought of model that's made Eldar Scrolls Online quite the success and basically a money printer for the wider company. The studio could've easily expanded and taken on that role and built the game up in the same way.

Instead with 76 it feels like that should've been the next single player Fallout game, or a nice co-op multiplayer mod that a lot of fans had been calling for sort of bodged into a halfway house.

What's interesting is how, with Fallout 76, Bethesda seem to be slowly slowly pulling a Hello Games, building the game into what it should've been steadily.

Naughty Dog can't do jack, and is a company who has absolutely zero oversight from Sony. At least Bethesda's the parent to fix the screwups steadily.

While there's many problems brought in by the woke brigade's pathological need to virtue signal and pander, UEG is right when he brings up that one casualty of the night-endless focus on identity politics is that people are now beyond hypersensitive to it. It has gotten to the point where even the slightest hint of kowtowing to wokeness can lead to a pull-out by people who would otherwise support a given game.

This is, by far, the cruelest aspect of these progtards' need to push shit, because what used to be no big thang in almost every form of media is now constantly leading to a need for affirmative feedback. Anyone with any experience in media can tell you that enormous progress has been made in the last two decades, absolutely none of which was due to this pandering bullshit. It was because there was no institutional barriers once shit like the Comics Code Authority and Nintendo of America fucked off, and artists were freer than ever to express themselves. No one cared what a character's race, sexual preference, or professed gender was; they cared if they were a well-developed character, first and foremost.

We're looking at the beginning of a time when that level of expression isn't going to be received as well, because these fuckers ruined it, and solely so they could intellectually masturbate over everyone else. History will not be kind to them in any regard.

Think about it-- those nail bombs Bill shows you? They're loaded explosive powder and sharp, pointy, dirty blades and scraps. That would fuck anyone up. Molotovs, bombs, arrows or just booby traps in general would be her style, since she's clearly still very small in the second game. She'd have to find ways to confront packs differently than what Joel was capable of, leading her to vent her aggression more creatively, and thus, more rewardingly for the player.
Forget about the nail bombs, remember these smoke bombs? Yeah, Ellie can easily replace the flour with cordicepts spores if she descends deep enough into insanity. She's immune, so a quick trip to a pacified mushroom-place and she has enough to infect whole outposts if she put her mind to it.

Just think, a better version of Spec: Ops the Line where your character is slowly going insane, combined with murderous traps, executions and stealth gameplay ala MGS 5 along with its massive variability. Like, you place down a remote mine, blast a guy in the leg with a rifle, his buddies come to help him and you just detonate the mine, killing everyone. Just absolutely merciless shit. She figures out how to use the fungus growing in her head to manipulate kill beasts and direct them at people or even worse, she learns how to make it infectious to other people. So she deliberately infects people, sends them off to their friends, when they turn into rampaging fungi and kill them.

Actually that would be a better fucking ending to my plot.

At the end of TLOU 2, Ellie intentionally infects Abby, who turns into a mutant beast and kills and devours her lover. After that, the now mutated Abby goes on a rampage, and that's the final boss of the game. Yeah, I like that version better. At the end of it all, Ellie realizes she's just as empty as before and accomplished nothing. This fully breaks her, especially since she has so much blood on her hands. She realizes her revenge can never wash it off and the only time she feels whole is when she's killing. The epilogue is that Ellie disappears into the forest and becomes some sort of a urban legend among survivors. If you do anyone wrong, if you betray anyone and go into the forest late at night, you'll hear the strumming of a guitar before you pay the ultimate price.

There. Revenge is utterly pointless, the cycle of it will leave you mentally broken and eventually more blood will be needed to fill that emptiness inside of you. I did those themes in a fun, interesting way. Cuckman is a fucking talent-less hack who doesn't know shit about writing or story telling.

I still find people crapping on LiS's writing a bit naff, as the reality is you shouldn't play that game straight, if you pick some good and bad options in the game, the writing gets a surprising depth to it. Second game was trash tho.

Probably helps that the Wii U proved that kind of marketing doesn't work anymore when it sunk harder than the Titanic.

There's lots of reasons the Wii U flopped, but getting into that in detail would get too off-topic so I'll just keep it at these quick bullet points: a lacking library and shitty marketing that didn't explain the Wii U enough and went after an audience that stopped caring because they had mobile games.

Either way, Sony is stupid for dropping such a large part of their audience. The PS3 was the weeb console of its generation. Guess it's totally worth it now that nobody likes TLOU2 tho.

Authors of LiS knew their target audience and made a game for them, people knew what they were getting - a game about hipster teens for hipster teens.
Many people shit on TLoU2 and refund preorders because leaks has shown it’s not what game’s target audience expected, esp after first game.
