I think the big difference between Pixiv and Japanese art sites (Japanese Twitter, Pawoo, etc) vs the western art community is that there's a lot more perfectionism among Japanese artists. Japanese internet artists have a talent for making something that's really fucking weird come off as more eccentric than autistic because of the sheer amount of talent seen in their art, and that's something you don't see in as many western fetish artists (with the exception of a few). On the other hand it's a common thing for western porn artists to end up getting worse over time as they focus on the money, while Japanese porn artists might end up in the manga/anime industries.
That's also why furries have tended to worship Asian artists as of late, because while the Asian ones might end up creating an anime or landing a gig or undercharging on art, the western ones end up as minor artcows and sometimes horrorcows.
Japan's censorship laws are very distinct from Western ones. The most iconic one is the "black bar over a pixelated penis" method. It's to the point where I've seen porn artists apply that censorship method to things that aren't penises as a joke.
