I will forever believe that Adolfin is an idiot, but I do feel that people are clutching at straws when taking issue with her art posting.

Realistically, the extent of the issue should be that she posts art without posting the exact source of where the art came from, because she only credits the artist and most users on that subreddit are too lazy to bother looking up the name because it requires additional effort on their part. Without her taking appropriate care to direct traffic to where it should go, it can come across as Karma-whoring.

But I've seen some daft arguements from users about it, like how apparently she's meant to ask for an artist's permission before posting their work, which is laughable. An artist that posts their work to a public platform shouldn't require permission for their art to be posted elsewhere, because it is public. It is unwritten etiquette of the internet for people to post the source of where the art came from, which directs traffic to them. In a lot of cases, if art is unsourced it gets posted by someone else, and/or the user is chastised for not doing so. Obviously it depends on the community, some are more lax about it than others, but it's incredibly unrealistic for an artist to expect the entire internet to specifically ask them if they can post their work.

I feel that people who find issue with her because she's doing literally anything related to posting art completely miss the point.

Edit:
It seems as if Adolfin lurks Kiwifarms. She posted this around three or four hours after I made my post; give-or-take an hour before I made this edit. Due to the timing and the sheer amount of similar terminology she uses, I fail to see this as anything but an almost direct quote.

New update came out. Just dumb lore shit and more bloat, but he did add an upper bound to how many people you could kill before the school gets shut down, at 50 deaths. Seems pretty high, but it's better than nothing.

Alex Mahan said:
Added 3 new hairstyles for Yandere-chan. (That brings the total to 200…whoa!)
Guess adding 200 hairstyles is more important than finishing the game?

Ugh, I watched some videos on the "lore update" and the conversations between the Basu sisters almost feel like Alex being passive-aggressive. It's like he took a list of all the complaints anybody ever had about the school's lay-out and structure and decided to explain them because "See? It makes sense! Shut up!". The worst part? He's bringing up problems I didn't even see before, but the answer is even less satisfying. Like the whole convoluted affair with the sports club:
>Akademi used to have a baseball team, but not anymore
>Another nearby school has a basebal team and they use Akademi for storage, that's why there's bats
>The new Sports Club president is trying out for the triathlon, which is why the entire backyard of the school was transformed into a running track and swimming pool

In typical Alex fashion, he sees a massive flaw and tries to stick a band-aid over it rather than fixing things. Yes Alex, it is for a school without a baseball team to just have bats lying around the school. Do you know how you fix this? No, not with some convoluted info dump you silly goose, you give the school a damned baseball team. Remove the running track and swimming pool, put down a baseball diamond, change the design and routine of the sports club members/rival et voila. But that would require doing a lot more coding and using new assets, and that's hard. Writing a convoluted backstory that would even make a five year old scratch his head in confusion is easy.

And then there's the obvious fact that the Basu sisters are now the exposition sisters. "Tell, don't show", huh?

And then there's even more confirmation for my theory that Alex' mindset is just like that of the unknown Saikou daughter: the reason why there isn't a boiler room isn't because Alex is lazy and rips assets, but because it's hidden. Why is is such an instrumental room in a place that's difficult and convoluted to reach? Why, because it fit the Saikou daughter's "vision" of course. I shudder to imagine a world in which Alex decided architecture was his thing rather than vidya.

What can I even say...
His text updates are awful in general and this is just another part of this neverending padding fest.
Like, usually developers just post patch notes and maybe tease next big content updates. Alex, however, needs blog format to keep feeding people with the most high quality bullshit.
He kinda has patch notes, and that's fine but then he throws unrelated info and simping over Tik-Tock cosplayer. Not to mention mention "What's next" section is basically "I'M WORKING ON IT!!! :o" with extra words.
It's obvious he doesn't have any strict to-do list for this month and he just thinks something like: "Well, I have a list of stuff I need to add, maybe I'll do it, or maybe not."
Also, gotta love how this game has over 200 hairstyles for the character now. I'm glad that YanDev has his priorities in place here.

Am I the only one that doesn't even get the appeal of Osana?? She's so fucking bland and ugly, why does the fucking moron keep holding her off and adding other unnecessary shit to the game?? cough cough corona-chan or whatever cough

Because the creator didn't give her any. She's the first rival because the character design is based on someone he hates (asuka), a sterotype he hates (tsundere) and thus she's the first to get brutally murdered.

Osana's sole reason to exist is because Alex has a burning hatred of tsunderes, equal perhaps only to his hatred of gremlins, and wants to torture and murder a personality type that does not really exist as sadistically as possible. She was conceived and designed as the punching dummy for his ire.

A little off topic and speaking of tsunderes.

Is it just me or does Alex's hatred of tsunderes possibly stem from the fact that tsunderes, by default, tend to be aggressive and quick to point out someone's flaws instead of kissing ass just like them damn dirty gremlins? And as we all know, Alex hates criticism so someone giving him a bit of tough love is something he would vehemently hate.

Nah, tsunderes are genuinely a shitty trope

When I used to think this game was a funny send-up of anime cliches where you play a yandere girl on the outside looking in of a stereotypical harem it made sense to have the first rival be the tsundere childhood friend cliche. And then it turned out the guy writing this shit was taking it 100% seriously.
Also Jay's new video just casually shows off how broken the character pathing is and it's hilarious.

Fair enough since most of them are lazy and unlikable characters but in this case, I think alex's hatred of them stems from his general hatred of anything or anyone that criticizes him- fictional or not.

Back on track: alex is can't code to save his life and this game will never be finished.

In terms of “last remaining core gameplay functionality”, the only thing that is still missing is a Save/Load feature. Over the past 2 weeks, I spent some time trying to reach that goal, but ran into a lot of obstacles. It started to look like the sort of thing that would eat up way too much time, so I decided to request help from other programmers. The feature isn’t 100% ready yet, but some promising progress has been made.

In other words, "I begged a volunteer how to do this and they're going to give me a format to destroy."

In terms of “making the demo true to my vision”, there are only two or three more things that the demo needs to have before I feel like, “Yes! My vision is complete! Time to release Osana!” These things are actually related to the game’s backstory/lore and potential consequences of the player’s actions. The two science club boys who have conversations about Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki now have another conversation about another fictional franchise that exists in Yandere Sim’s world, after Cleaning Time on Monday.
Why is any of this shit important? Who gives a fuck about fictional franchises in a game? The "lore" or in this case, fictional franchises, don't matter at all?

Also that's a LOT of bug fixes related to the alphabet killer mode.. Which shouldn't be a priority at all but... Alright Alex..
Onto Jay's video..

I'm convinced Alex's hate of tsunderes is why he refuses to finish her chapter, because the fail state of said chapter is Osana getting the guy and he wants to prevent that.

On the other hand, he loves his uberfrau Megami but can't even muster the guts to get past the self-imposed roadblock to get to what he considers fun.
