The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In a way I hope it does get the bundle. The first one was adult, for sure, but can you imagine THIS playing around the fireplace on christmas day, 2021? There are still a good quantity of sane, healthy families with parents that don't want their 12 year old kids to watch a tranny savagely brutalize a guy that looks like their father. Just wait for the grumpy mommy complaints on facebook getting kickback from the enlightened ones on twitter.

It's a mudpit in the making! Gramma and grandpa give little carlos his brand new PS5 and the extended family gathers around the TV to gaze and marvel at the beautiful ground breaking, game changing graphics of the new sony PS5! Wait, why are those preteens making out with each other? Carlos, cover your eyes for a sec! Wait, what the h-e-c-k is that man with the chesticles doing there? Oh my gosh! Turn it off! This is harrible! What the double hockey sticks has this country turned into?! (Then she gets immense outrage for having and issue with appropriateness of the supertrans/queer elements where she's repeatedly told SHE's the bad guy.)

I see them bundling it, but I think they'd have to fight to get sony to allow it. It's just got too much of everything in that gumbo pot to fly as the mainstream, gold standard.

You made it fam. you are finally a Z-list internet celebrity.

Another thing I'm wondering about is what TLoU 2's multiplayer will be like, because the multiplayer for TLoU 1 was actually very fun. I say "was" because they eventually added a DLC with guns that were outrageously overpowered compared to every non-DLC gun. I remember the multiplayer pretty much dying after that since not a whole lot of people wanted to get the pay-to-win DLC. The microtransaction thing ruining 1's multiplayer seems to get glossed over or forgotten when criticisms of 1 get discussed.

I can't imagine [Current Year] Naughty Dog doing what some other developers do with DLC where if one person in a game lobby has DLC guns then they're available to everyone else for the duration of that game as well.

It seems like a low key play to change the narrative that Sony is focusing on WHO the leaker is. It's like we were excited for the return of the McRib, and we found a recipe leaked showing it's made of dog turds. "Holy shit, you guys wanna feed us Turds?!" "Ignore that, we don't comment on stupid things like that, the real question is who told you all about this recipe!"

I don't even play games, I just get sick of everyone pre-ordering, buying on release, buying DLC's, then complaining for a year about how shitty their hobby is. Dropping a couple hundred on fallout 76 and buying costumes doesn't earn the right to bitch to me.

So, one of the theories I am reading is that a tester working from home may have had the game leaked by a friend/roommate. I won't pretend to an expert on how much a tester would know about the game, so how likely is this?

A tester would have the complete game. They'd also be one of the contractors I mentioned earlier too. These are also the most likely group to suffer abuse/ridiculous hours for low compensation. Not technically "an employee" just does a shit load of work for them.

I always wanted to play a game where the main nasties are all dead years later and we get a lifetime drama. How fun!

I have a theory it will be bundled with PS5's at launch in an attempt to salvage the sales figures.
I don't think so, it's already being buried and Sony refunded pre-orders.

If anything it might come in a pack with GOW or Ghosts or some kind of Playstation BEST OF with the Original game.

Remember Sony isn't above giving away games for free they just gave out Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection(which is 3 full games) and Journey to all PS4 owners(which don't need PS+ to run) and Farming Simulator is one of the new Monthly titles for May for PS+.

They're heavily pushing Ghosts as the Playstation game to have now, I've seen multiple ads on TV for it, which is unusual.

I want to mention something about Ghosts though, it's got a minority lead, it has prominent female characters who are also minorities, it has a gay scribe dude.

It also hasn't been hacked to bits and ruined and it's a solid samurai game and had the GOW people who worked on the combat who were also on the team. there's zero excuses naughty Dog has on just how badly they fucked up.

I just saw someone say that while the crunch time and general treatment of the workers at ND is abominable, they're still going to buy the game because "not buying it would hurt the workers far more." Fucking how? That's like saying that you're still going to buy stuff made in sweatshops because it'll hurt the child slaves employed there more if you don't. They don't seem to realize that not buying products made using worker-abusing methods will eventually discourage companies from using said methods.

This person also said that anyone who dislikes how Ellie and Joel's characters are treated in this are "massive babies." There's no getting through to these people, I swear.

I honestly don't think the problem was with Ellie being a lesbian, just more because the recent Battlefield V kerfuffle has left people more aware and angry of this sort of pandering. It just came at a bad moment. People are also anxious to know what happened to Joel, which I suspect isn't around because of the ending to the last game and Ellie finds out.

Or that Joel was killed by the cult members and Ellie is out for revenge. Maybe she split with Joel over the last ending and is somehow responsible for getting him killed. Which spills into hatred and self loathing. She never got to apologize to him for the split, and he died before. So she kind of loses her mind with anger. Joel is presented as Ellie's delusion throughout the game and tries to act as her conscious.

I think a really interesting twist would be is that the party she's at is one of the cult members hoe-downs, as in she's infiltrating them to hollow them out from the inside. I sort of suspect this because the Asian says they have to go out on patrol in the morning. And Ellie's girlfriend in that trailer is part of the cult. Which is why she goes, 'I'm not afraid of you' *cut to Ellie fucking murdering everything* and then she goes, 'You should be.' Its mostly a stealth action game because Ellie has to kill anyone who finds out about her double cross, so you can run and hide, but you can't let anyone live.

An interesting decision would be choosing to murder your girlfriend who is a true believer, and might not have killed Joel, but killed other people. IE: Not a good person. However, I think a better story is that Ellie is acting like a honeypot ala spycraft to seduce a cult member to get information out of her. Ellie isn't in love with her at all, fucking hates her, and is just using her. You don't get a choice to 'save' her because Ellie is full of hate, even if you get to know her as a person. Because Ellie doesn't give a fuck.

However, I think that's too complex a story for this day and age and would upset too many people that Ellie isn't truly gay (she might be. Another twist would be that she isn't, her pure hate is just driving her to do things that are pretty terrible) or in love, nevermind the hundreds of spies who pretended to be gay or lesbian to get information out of people. Or pretended to be in love with them.

Fuck, I want to play that game now. I know the story isn't going to be anything like this and its just going to be a typical girlfriend gets killed and shit for exploiting emotion.
Look if you are okay with 2D animation and having it be slightly different mechanics-wise and also not TLoU IP then I am totally up for making a game like this.

I see you found the average consoomer in the wild.

I got the same spiel when I said I refuse to buy Metro Exodus when they jumped ship to Epic. People today are conditioned to buy shit as a sign of "continued interest", rather than "hm, this thing will do something for me". It's honestly scary.

My only wish for this game is that when you kill someone it feels like you actually kill them like in the first game. very few games get this right and i loved how you could grab people and make them surrender and beg for life then shoot them

i also don't care that theirs a new playable character as long as they are well written

It doesn't actually surprise me anymore, but it does continue to impress me just how far some people are willing to go just to avoid uncomfortable situations and cognitive dissonance (i.e. admitting the game they've been hyped up about has turned out to be complete shit).
Dude, it's reddit. That site is dedicated to thin skinned faggots. They can't take shit that might disrupt the echo-chamber. I'm sure the game will be mechanically conmpetent, but the story, and apparently the animations, are going to fucking suck.

Decided to go back and start reading the original Game Informer cover story for the original Last of Us to see what's now bitterly ironic.

For starters as soon as I saw Druckmann's name for the first time I heard sinister, evil music playing in my head, also evidently he got his start "designing menus for Jak X", go figure.

Here are some choice cuts.

"Naughty Dog neither wants to shy away from gore nor exploit it"

Yeah, you can say that again.
