I have talked about this before but it bears repeating that this claim and related "icky dudebro nurds hate blacks and other demographics being shown in fiction" schtick when actually examined is possibly the most stunningly dishonest piece of horseshit in common usage among dumb SJW speds and is the surest sign imaginable that those making this claim are the absolute most cynical and scummy of grifters.
Simply put, to say that an individual or a group objects to female protagonists let alone the mere existence of women in fiction, is to accuse them of harbouring bigotry more extreme and all consuming than than has *ever* been popularly held in *any* culture or nation or ideology in human history. Im talking shit that is far and away beyond any official or unofficial nazi viewpoint, confederate or KKK sympathising mythology, sixteenth century religious fanaticism, medieval superstition, and even the worst chapters ancient greek or roman history
Its on the same level of absurdity and intellectual dishonesty as accusing people of fanatically despising the existence of fucking hats in fiction, which makes it all the more of a complete farce when those targeted with such accusations quickly provide very definitive evidence to the contrary and are met with sneers of "oh those examples dont count because not the right kind of wammen/muh objectivised/conventional attractive/[INSERT BUZZWORD HERE]" and thus people who have spent their lives happily enjoying diverse as shit media from every corner of the planet can suddenly find themselves officially labaled a fanatical white supremecist obsessed with erasing all non white/straight/male characters from fiction.
Thing is such jawdroppingly idiotic claims are not meant to hold up to any criticism. They are used to aggressively and punitively smear and silence any criticism from the position of having an unquestioning media machine regurgitate this shit as undisputed fact so that anyone who speaks against you runs the risk of being swarmed by media goons looking to turn you into the latest boogieman and/or swarmed by clout chasing internet speds looking to claim an outgroup scalp for asspat points.
This is why you see this claim be used so often by blatant grifters. Its shit they dont have to defend or justify or prove, its hyperbolic and scary sounding enough to get the media to jump aboard the bandwagon, and it discourages anyone who is not anonymous or big enough in their own right from challenging them, and the latter category usually has better shit to do. With the more vindictive specimens it also gives them the excuse to engage in petty revenge against those who piss them off enough.
Besides, if you are trying to spin the most basic and generic shit imaginable as a stunning and brave triumph for humanity as druckuck and friends have been, then it helps to have a convenient "terrifying and totally real bigut army who are furiously buttmad that wammen are shown to exist for the first time in gaming history" to provide greater melodrama to the narrative they chose
