It seems like generic western female concept artists default to painting Tulsi Gabbard-esque tieflings if left unsupervised.
I have competing theories that this is some way of maintaining some sense of their ideal self while being crushed by their SCAD student loan debt and antidepressant dosage.
Alternately, it may be a general lack of ideas.

I can actually explain why this happened. Thanks to recent developments, we're starting to see how these roll, and while a few cases Silicon Valley, specifically are very much top-down, with the infection spread throughout the organization, most of the time this shit is coming from a few people who've gotten into positions of power, and decided to leverage it together with their buddies. All it really takes is one or two shitheads in the wrong positions at the proper departments, and you have something that can damage or even potentially destroy outright entire companies.
In the case of Disney, for example, the bulk of the higher end of the company had no real interest in wokeness. As long as profit was made, any offense would be tolerated. However, in two sections of the company, you had the exact wrong person with the worst possible level of power. In the case of Disney-Lucasfilm, you had Kathleen Kennedy deciding to basically fuck Star Wars up on every level for her own vision, and at Marvel, you had the HR director for that part of the company being an avowed Twitterati.
In both cases, Disney tried course-correcting, but was thwarted at every single turn. Kennedy used the fact that she was a high-profile female staffer to effectively tie Iger's hands (since he wants to get into politics) and force her shit further by announcing her female-focused Star Wars series idea to the mainstream press, so she can try to get one more shot at pushing her shit into the public consciousness.
In the case of Marvel, someone had an outbreak of common sense and after years of declining sales and bad PR, fired fucking everyone, only for the HR director in question to immediately hire a battery of new staffers just as woke as the previous ones and get right back to the same 'tism.
Neither of these is to say Disney is in any way innocent (China is asshoe, after all), just to emphasize how little it actually takes to do this.
Even in cases where the fuck-ups are top-down, you really only need one or two people to do it. Mark DiStefano, the asshole "journalist" behind the demonetization of dozens of Youtube channels, from Count Dankula on downward, was able to get pretty much everyone he wanted demonetized because he's IRL friends with the creative director of Youtube's UK branch. Similarly, there was a point where Brianna Wu could get anyone she want permabanned for any reason because she was, again, IRL friends with Twitter staff.
All it takes is one or two people in the wrong place and the other variables are essentially irrelevant.

If the leaks tell me anything, it's that post Jak and Dexter Naughty Dog have very little to no originality in their creative department. The 4chan plot leak just come across as a very generic "cycle of violence/revenge" type of story. While I'm not a fan of TLOU, I didn't think their ideas would divebomb this hard.

Given that Abby appears nowhere in three and a half years of promotional material and trailers pushes this beyond bad game and into flat out scam territory. They fully intended to lie about the game until it was already too late and people couldn't get refunds.
It's almost a good thing for Sony this was leaked because the finished product is so radically different than the advertised product they could have been sued.

I feel this mentality really fucked up the comics industry, too. When nerd culture went mainstream, a lot of people started trying to use comics/games/etc as a stepping stone to celebrity.
You have all these writers who are making comics with the endgame of having their books picked up or optioned by a network, so you end up with a lot of people pitching half baked ideas in rapid succession instead of really developing a world or characters. They're just trying out one gimmick after another.

While the genderswaps are getting kind of tiring, it doesn't come off as dumb and they're probably worked by the Nasuverse team as a whole instead of having two idiots coming with it on the fly.
Also, they're probably just horny (Fate was an eroge before it blew up into what it is now, so it's more like fanservice).

We all thought that the Game of Thrones series 8 leaks were dubious, then they all came true, right up to Bran the Wheely Wheely Legs No Feely becoming king because he had the best stories.
Ditto The Ruse of Skywanker. Surely they couldn't be creatively bankrupt enough to bring back Palpatine and have Snoke be a clone and Rey be his granddaughter, could they? Could they? Erm... they could.
The problem is that media franchises have been addicted to the mystery box for so long now that they can't do anything else. They always have to be setting up a sequel hook or something that is obvious foreshadowing, however, they have no idea how to actually pay it off. So it always leads to... another mystery box. Because when they have to actually shit or get off the pot, this sort of low effort bollox makes an appearance.

I feel like people probably should have been prepared for some kind of twists and turns with the protagonists of this kind of game. Not one as extreme as Abby, sure, but Joel dying was always on the table and I couldn't rightfully complain about the act of deliberately misleading an audience only to pull the rug under them for effect/meta narrative/whatever in and of itself while enjoying the twists of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 5 for example. It's just the execution on this one seems to please no one.
