Manosphere Amud - The Balloon Loon, Loveshy Extraordinaire

It's a disturbingly common idea - not just among lolcows, just among people in general. A lot of people don't think it through or derive any concrete convictions from it, they just have this vague but quite strong belief that "things were simpler, but better and somehow more real, back then".
Well camping is popular and some people do just live in the woods but the idea of amud pulling this off is laughable. @Amud, you must be an accomplished outdoorsman? Please tell us of your adventures.

I always comfort them that in thirty thousand years time some hyper-intelligent nano cloud will probably be waxing nostalgic about how great it used to be when we had sex by bumping pieces of meat together, not exchanging quantum foam nodes through synthetic bacteria.

In reality though, Nostalgia is best enjoyed from a distance. As far as i can tell, nobody really wants to go back to those golden old days of yesteryear. They may complain all day, but wouldn't give up the benefits of today. Like the chance to complain about how it used to be better on the internet, via smart phones, without the fear of starving to death or dying from polio.

Even people actually living in the woods usually use some kind of modern technology. Living in the woods without any technology invented in the post-prehistoric era (e.g. forged metal) would be extremely difficult. There might be a handful of people in the world doing it as a life long commitment, but they'd be a ridiculously small group.

I think you're onto something with camping, though - people have a mediated/limited experience with a less tech-heavy lifestyle, like going camping, and they really enjoy it, so they think that living thirty thousand years ago was like going camping every day!

I'm pretty good in DayZ, so i feel confident that i will do fine when the Apocalypse comes (which it will, eventually, stop ruining my hopes, y'all).

I can picture it cleary, me sporting a real binocular, compass and can opener. Dead within 24 hrs, probably, making for a incredibly stupid looking corpse.

Okay buddy, you are truly starting to piss me the fuck off. You are one of the rudest posters here and have given me nothing but trouble. I can almost guarantee you that I have a higher IQ, higher test scores, higher academic achievement, and more skill in a greater variety of areas than you could dream of having. I have accomplished more in a week than you've accomplished in your entire life. "Lowered thinking capacity"? How about you tell that to all of the teachers who have been highly impressed by my skill in programming, mathematics, writing, music, computer aided design, art, and chemistry. How about you tell that to the SAT graders who assessed my 99th percentile scores. How about you tell that to all of the people, both online and in real life, who have learned things from me and who consider me to be a helpful and interesting person.

I swear. This sounds like a ripoff Copypasta of Internet Marine Tough Guy.

The true lolcow benchmark is how many years it took him to complete the two-year program for an associate's. @Amud, was it less than 6?

You would be surprised how many times most people change their major or new requirements is added to an associates that makes community college students stay longer than 2 years.

Not the humble type, are you? From my experience on this planet, anybody touting his or her own superior intellect ussually is the last person who should do so.

Good point. I meant the good ol' CWC 6-year CAD degree.

Fucking all of them. And the fucking paperwork is-- Fucking. ALL. OF. THEM.

And then they complain that they have to take new classes, like their two courses in lit should be counted as biology cause it isn't fair. Stick it up your ass kid, you're not going to do anything with that degree anyway so who gives a christ.

I mean... nothing. I didn't just blow a gasket.

That had to be so fucking frustrating dealing with chris for 6 years. Lol no other single institution had him that long and professors are not supposed to have to deal with behavioral issues. Wasn't there a cad teacher who just couldn't take him anymore?

It really depends on the institution, some professors, especially adjuncts, have to put up with more than a high school teacher would because if you fail or kick a kid out, then they might not continue to attend the institution. If that happens then the school sees it as losing the money they would have spent on those other classes. And so you aren't invited to teach again.

I will not allow this thread to die. Found him still spreading his bullshit science on that other forum.

So apparently the shape of your skull can change due to your environment, but only before puberty. What?

"People today could never build walls like that, Stonehenge, pyramids, Machu Pichu, The Nazca Lines, etc. because we are too dumb and weak. Farming made us that way. The people back then were much better than us, but they were "less advanced" because their society was not set up to allow for increasing levels of complexity and task division in their projects, and the root cause of this is food production. I believe that it is impossible for a society to have both kinds of advanced technology (electrical/digital stuff, and megalithic structures) because they are two directly contradictory goals."

So apparently with the amount of technology and feats in engineering we have accomplished thus far, it would impossible for us to make a pyramid or the Nazca Lines of all things. God there is so much else wrong with that post, but I'll leave it at this for now.

Negroid, Weddoid, Dravidian? What the fuck are these names supposed to be? Also how do you look 'archaic'?

Negroid, Weddoid, Dravidian
These are actual phenotypes.

Dravidians and Weddoid (Gond) are Southern and Central Indian, respectively, though the Gond are considered Dravidian, as far as I know.

They also refer to Dravidian culture, which is distinct from the Indo-European culture of northern India. It encompasses a pretty big group of languages and peoples in the country which have no original relation to Sanskrit or Hindi or anything else.

Anyway, all the phenotypes broadly exist, but admixture means that the idea of a discrete "Dravidian" people does not hold water. It is, however, considered sufficient evidence (along with actual genetic anthropology) to suggest that India was settled by two broadly different population groups but, again, admixture.

The Elamo-Dravidian hypothesis purports that Dravidian originally hails from an extinct language which was spoken in a region in Iran.

Interestingly, Dravidian is almost exclusively a south Indian and Sri Lankan phenomenon, but a related language is also spoken by a minority group all the way in Pakistan.

Also how do you look 'archaic'?

racism lol

I like to imagine Amud playing Civilization but refusing to research any new technologies.
