Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Just caught the last episode of the Clone Wars. Not really impressed with it. I would have liked to have seen more of Order 66 and the declaration of the new order play out. The ending they give is okish, but the old season 6 ending with Yoda talking about force ghosts and the future seems like a better coda to me.

As for the May 4th fav moments:

IV: Ben's death

V: The Cloud City lightsaber duel.

VI: When Luke snaps and attacks Vader. Then sees his father's severed hand and looks down at his own mechanical hand. Letting it all go; shutting off his lighsaber and staring down the Satan of the setting. Literally perfect thematic climax of all 6 movies.

I: the final part of the lighsaber duel where Obi-Wan rushes Maul and ends up cutting his saber in half.

II: The full Imperial March ending with the clones taking off and Palpatine smiling.

III: The Obi-Wan vs Anakin duel as a whole. So many great moments to it. Probably the best lightsaber duel of all 9 movies. The final shot of Obi-Wan dropping off Luke to Owen and Beru is also close. The 'goodbye old friend' scene is also up there.

VII: the TRAITOR bit. I really really wish Rian Johnson hadn't made Finn a borderline racist caracature in the next movie. Having an ex stormtrooper deal with leaving was some amazing squandered story potential.

VIII: Honestly, the Luke death scene and the music behind it. John Williams IMO really hit the score outta the park here. Having Luke struggling to get up and staring into the Twin Suns was a good way for him to die. I just wish he hadn't been so badly character assassinated beforehand.

IX: The fact it ended. Nothing really salvageable from it.

EDIT: How was the final episode of the show, for people who have watched it? Did I rehash parts of Episode III, or did it just show things from Ahsoka's perspective?
Did the latter which was smart cause it would've been cringe to rehash Episode III. It also left a sad ending with some genuinely good scenes. But as I said earlier, it's best to view Filoni wars as a divergent timeline to the movies

Reactions: The Decimator
Favorite moments of the saga:

I: Palpatine manipulating Padmé into removing Valorum

II: That last scene where Dooku meets Sidious, the music, sound effects and dialogue are perfect.

III: Anakin cutting off Windu's hand and his moral conflict afterwards.

IV: The prison break part.

V: Luke cockily walking up the stair to confront Vader and Vader calmly igniting his lightsaber.

VI: The final battle between Vader and Luke, screw the haters, the scene, music, and emotion was amazing and for that reason, it's my favourite part in the saga.

VII: Finn trying to beat Kylo Ren.

VIII: Snoke's parts.

IX: Unironically the part where Palpatine contacts Wyatt Pryde. I think that was the most chilling part in the Sequels. They still sucked though.

EU: Tie between Palpatine possessing a clone in Dark Empire and then dueling Luke and the fight between Kir Kanos and Carnor Jax in Crimson Empire.

Ok ok, I'll do mine for real. Favorite moments. (oh, and to echo above, I'm not going to count any scene with Ian, "the Senate" as it just goes without saying, that man rocks)

Star Wars - The climax does just work and is a great example of build up & pay off that writers should study.

ESB - Luke & Vader's dual. I think what some people forget (but your brain didn't) is that at the end of SW, Luke hears Obi-Wan still guiding him. (Use the Force) So when Luke goes to confront Vader and Obi-Wan warns him, "I cannot go with you." it really drives home how alone Luke is when he's facing down the monster of the Empire - and there are no words of advice or encouragement. Again, a master example of writing.

RotJ - I do have a soft spot for Vader without his mask and the moment he chooses to save his son (the original silent version). I also really like C3PO retelling the story of the trilogy to the Ewoks.

tPM - Is there any other choice besides dual of the fates? Ok, I did like R2D2 having to fix a ship and save the day at the mid point.

AotC - Anakin's & Padme's relationship actually improves once they go to rescue Obi-Wan and I actually started to like them. (really the entire movie should have been them on an adventure that slowly drew them together) Other than that, Padme's midriff is pretty nice for a meatbag.

RotS - R2D2 and his mad killing spree at the start of the film. (I mean I do like it, but if RotJ is greater than the sum of its parts, RotS is less than the sum of its parts.)

Rogue One - Setting aside Felicity Jones, K2S0. Again, weaker than the sum.

Solo - Jyn Erso may make me question my robosexuality, but L-337 makes it seem like a good idea. Get bent you bitch - you give "kill all humans" a bad name. (so I guess I liked when she got shot)

TFA - Finn & Poe together. They should have just made the entire film a buddy cop movie with those two.

TLJ - The credits. Ok, I guess I liked it when nazi-bot caught the "protagonists." Too bad they didn't let him finish them off.

tRoS - Ok, no joke, but there is one bit that I did kind of enjoy in the film. D-0. Like really. Had the movie abandoned that dumb knife and had the characters find the little bot instead as the mcguffin, the film might have been less of a rectal exam. You have them take it to Babu Frik, then give the characters a challenge of having to convince D-0 that they're friends, and you have real potential there. It would even call back to the first movie where Rey and Finn have to both convince BB8 that they're friends. It would at least be something in the film.

Now onto the REAL films...

Holiday Special - lol j/k.

Ewok 1 (CoC) - When lumberjack ewok takes on the kaiju monster. You rock you little badass you.

Ewok 2 (B4E) - Infiltrating the castle. I'm telling you, Disney messed up not making Rey into the grown up Sindal.

V. Games - Kyle Katarn any time he kicks ass. (which is all the time) There is a reason we're saving him for last when we kill all humans.

Comics - Darth Vader vs Maul from the SW tales as well as the gospel of Skippy. (Tag & Bink, honorable mention)

Books - I, Jedi giving the jedi a disadvantage, and then having the character create game breaking bugs with it.

I like Waititi's films, but to me his humor style doesn't fit with SW. If anybody didn't read the article it's also been confirmed that
Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette) is currently developing a new untitled Star Wars series for Disney+. Headland will write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for the series

That Headland series - the "Alternate universe, female led" one - is going to be buried and axed as soon as possible. From all reports, Lucasfilm went against Disney in leaking this to the press and Bob Iger/Bob Chapek are both absolutely livid about this. We might learn more from the shareholders meeting tomorrow but the simple fact it seems like Leslye Hedland getting brought on for this project was entirely not greenlit by Disney whatsoever.

May the 4th be with you...but not Kathleen Kennedy, Jj abrams or rian Johnson.

I officially gave up on watching star wars movies in full after rouge one. I actually mute the diolouge in last Jedi and fast forward anytime admiral fish breath is on screen. Haven't seen ros yet or the mandalorian but that's because I have a life to focus on outside movies and TV

I agree that the series will probably get cancelled with the wuflu force majeure excuse in a couple of months. I brought it up because it was slightly buried in the article and people probably missed it if they only glanced at the headline or link name. As it stands the series is now officially ""in development"" and i wouldn't be surprised if it barely gets a mention in that shareholders call. I think the uncomfortable questions relating to parks, movies, and cruiselines will overshadow it.

May the 4th... Boy I sure picked a lousy time to drop the next half of the Grand Cosmic Shitpost when the thread would be most active and flooded with posts. And on the same day E;R finally drops his fantastic Disney-bashing review no less...

Regardless, E;R's videos not only hit hard but he shits on everyone, JJ, Rian, Kennedy, Iger, the fans, etc. I love it. And he does it all within a reasonable time frame. The solid points of Mauler, the editing skill of Hackfraudmedia, and the political incorrectness and briefness of Smack Talk all wrapped up into one edgy package. But what makes these four stand out is that they're the only ones willing to actually take shots at JJ and Kennedy too while most other reviewers will try to avoid or defend one of the two.

If Kennedy's newest pet project does get the axe, my only regret will be not seeing the retards at Wookieepedo break down over this "defilement" of the promise Disney and Hidalgo had made to them about a singular and solid one true canon universe nonsense. Their website would become an even bigger mess than the DC and Marvel ones.

I just visited the site and they overlooked an official source that has been out for almost three years and our scrambling to acknowledge it, and interwove it into the character pages as it was a series covering many characters.
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Helmet_Collection. It's weird the first issue came out in 2017, but they say issue 8 came out in 2016. I don't know where they got that from, in short the wook isn't really reliable and neither is Lucasfilm regarding continuity.

My Favorite moment in Star Wars is when Kenobi lied to Luke to motivate him, I just love how the film unintentionally foreshadows Vader being Luke's father, with Alec Guinness looking hesitant, and Owen Lars being afraid of Luke being too much like his father.

Yeah... about that.

Iger is such a weak man that wants to be a politician that he okayed it despite his rage. He has by doing this allowed all subsidiaries to push back on him by letting Kennedy winning due to fear. Absolute loser.

II: count dooku kicking everyone's ass while taunting them and then his fight with yodel
