Georgia 'LYNCHING' citizen fatally shoots unarmed black man ... Video Emerges, Grand Jury to Convene

The fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery -- a 25-year-old black man out for a jog when he was chased and killed -- was caught on video, prompting a call for a grand jury to review the case.

Arbery's death is being referred to as a modern-day lynching, as he was unarmed when he was gunned down in Brunswick, GA on February 23 by a white citizen named Travis McMichael ... who has not been arrested or charged. He also happens to be the son of a former district attorney investigator.

As you can see in the video, Arbery was jogging when he was stopped by McMichael and his father in a white pickup truck. McMichael was armed with a shotgun. Arbery appears to attempt to run around the truck before he and McMichael start grappling.

After at least 2 shots, the men continued struggling over the gun ... until Arbery stumbles away, shot in the mid-section, and then collapses to the ground. He was later pronounced dead.

McMichael has not been charged in the shooting ... reportedly because he and his father, who was in the back of the truck, claim they were trying to make a citizen's arrest. They claim Ahmaud fit the description of a suspect in a string of recent break-ins in the area.

After the emergence of the video, D.A. Pro Tempore Tom Durden has decided the case "should be presented to the grand jury of Glynn County for consideration of criminal charges against those involved in the death of Mr. Arbery.”

Ahmaud's family says the use of deadly force was unnecessary.

Here's the statement from the district attorney who was brought in to oversee the case and decide how and whether the case should be prosecuted.

Attorney Lee Merritt, who represents Arberys mother, claims "The series of events captured in this video confirm what all the evidence indicated prior to its release— Ahmaud Arbery was pursued by three white men that targeted him solely because of his race and murdered him..."

Imagine being hunted by two fat hillbillies in a truck.

The three white men Travis McMicheal, Greg McMicheal and Bryan Williams are innocent. According to their experiences with a recent dark skinned robber, they had good cause to suspect their neighbor and stop him to be question, he refused and resisted their arrest well attacking Travis McMicheal without any reason and grabbing his shotgun repeatedly. The shot actually went through Arbery's hand and then the second shot missed them both but was being point upwards, before Aubery again grabbed the barrel tip of the gun pulling the last bullet towards himself rather then the air like McMicheal was attempting to do.
McMicheal clearly showed he had no intention to kill or even fight while for no reason Aubery chimped out repeatedly. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes as they say.
Here's the autopsy:

It is hard to see this as anything other than racism when, on the 911 call they were asked what crime the individual was engaged in and they simply stated "he's a black man running down our street". But, the black dude was stupid for trying to grab the gun. He was a jogger. I'm sure he could have outrun some fat rednecks. Especially if he was zig zagging through yards in the neighborhood. Even the biggest racist on the planet won't allow you to put tire tracks in the yard to hunt down a black man. Not unless they are trailer trash and this area looks too nice to be a trailer park.

Do you have a source for that? According to NYT who I doubt would fudge the 911 call in favor of the hillbillies:

In a recording of a 911 call, which appears to have been made moments before the chase began, a neighbor told a dispatcher that a black man was inside a house that was under construction on the McMichaels’ block.

That is a little different then what you are claiming was said on the call. The version you have presented is definitely racist. The NYT's is more of a description.

Also from the NYT article said:
Court records show that Mr. Arbery was convicted of shoplifting and of violating probation in 2018. Five years earlier, according to The Brunswick News, he was indicted on charges that he took a handgun to a high school basketball game.

So, there is zero chance at all that this guy was lurking in a construction site, people noticed him, he flees the site and attacks a man wielding a shotgun in an attempt to detain him resulting in him being shot? It had to be racism?

It is pretty clear in that video that the first shot happens after Arbery attempts to attack the shooter or take the gun. This fits the coroners report.

Not saying these guys were not racist or did not just kill him because he was black but there is little to suggest that unless Spastic Colon's version of the 911 call is accurate.

Do not get me wrong I am not advocating people roll around, armed, and try to solve mysteries...yet. I do believe if law enforcement and governments keep refusing to enforce the law(see California's license to shoplift policy) we will be seeing more of this and more deaths as a result.

I must say that it is interesting that every single time something like this happens it is instantly they were racist. That continues to be the narrative though quite often facts come out that make that seem less than the likely cause of the event.

Vigilante justice is never acceptable. They aren't innocent in any capacity. Even if this guy was 'suicidal', they provoked his behavior and are directly responsible for the circumstances of his death, because they couldn't wait for actual police to investigate the situation.

Dear Lord. A citizen's arrest would be to not shoot to kill.

Also, what even started this?

Tell me how racism doesn't exist in this country anymore. I'm appalled. In the South.

I would like to see how this story develops.

Chasing after someone to do a citizen's arrest? Dumb.

Charging someone with a shotgun in a stand your ground state? Even dumber.

This pretty much looks like the Zimmerman case, except they actually caught the assault on video.

Isn't a "citizen's arrest" a completely made up idea?

The film showing them actively going after the guy and not retreating is probably going to be the big decider in this. They actively tried to block his way and the guy appeared to already be aiming the gun. Big difference here is that Zimmerman claimed he was rushed. These guys used the car to intentionally block him and came out guns in hand from the get go.

Edit: Wait, this is Florida, so stand your ground laws could apply.

Edit 2: Correction it's Georgia.

hillbillies in a pickup chasing down a jogging black man = racist.
Black man rushing down said hillbilly to wrestle him out of his shotgun = fucking dumb

Were the hillbillies in the right to do a citizen arrest? no fucking idea but this shit looks like a clear self defense when the black man decided to rush him down instead of you know, stopping to answer their question or just continuing on his jog, or calling the police himself.

It's Georgia, and citizen's arrest is a valid thing there:

2010 Georgia Code
TITLE 17 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
CHAPTER 4 - ARREST OF PERSONS
ARTICLE 4 - ARREST BY PRIVATE PERSONS
§ 17-4-60 - Grounds for arrest

O.C.G.A. 17-4-60 (2010)
17-4-60. Grounds for arrest

A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion.

Whether they had "reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion" is probably still unresolved, but the right way to handle that situation would have been for the dude to go "no need for a shotgun, I'll wait here until the cops arrive and sort this out". Not charging at the guy with the gun.
