Coronavirus: Lockdown Protests and Riots

This seems somehow appropriate. Most know the one sentence from it. But a deeper read of some of the body and context for which Jefferson’s famous Tree of Liberty quote comes seems to chillingly mirror modern times.

Excerpted from Thomas Jefferson’s letter to William Stephens Smith (John Adam’s Son in Law) 1787. (I chopped off some of the polite social correspondence that wasn’t needed for the bulk of the point.)

Wonderful is the effect of impudent and persevering lying. The British ministry have so long hired their gazetteers to repeat and model into every form lies about our being in anarchy, that the world has at length believed them, the English nation has believed them, the ministers themselves have come to believe them, and what is more wonderful, we have believed them ourselves. Yet where does this anarchy exist? Where did it ever exist, except in the single instance of Massachusets? And can history produce an instance of a rebellion so honourably conducted? I say nothing of it’s motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be 20. years without such a rebellion.1 The people can not be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13. states independant 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it’s natural manure. Our Convention has been too much impressed by the insurrection of Massachusets: and in the spur of the moment they are setting up a kite to keep the hen yard in order.

The comments about the British Governments use of a captive bought off press to spread their lies seems particularly topical.

The (((goyim))) at the Auschwitz museum in Illinois didn't liked the protests against the governor who's being called a nazi. Styx vlogged about this.

Some Youtubers gived me some little laughs.

NyBSfP
This time it’s the Nazi being called a Nazi. Progress.
Dave P.
Yes, it is a nice change that the person being called a national socialist actually IS a national socialist. Usually the target of this insult is the exact opposite of a national socialist.

Mr Bubble

‘The Guy is Jewish, you can’t call him a Nazi’ Anyone want to tell the Leftists that some Nazis were Jewish?

These riots and protests are going to increase in places that don't start letting people outside. That's not hard to figure out. I do like how the early thread started out with whining about Amerrucans having the nerve to push back against the fascist police state but as soon as links started appearing from other nations protesting their fascist police states those complaints evaporated lmao

I never understood why the rich and famous are so scared of the virus? Wouldn’t they like to lord over people by doing things that are now closed off like golfing or hanging out with their friends.
The entertainment industry is really going to suffer from the virus as a whole. Due to lockdowns, filming can’t happen, theatres can’t open, and movie releases are delayed. The music industry will suffer from artists not being able to go on tour. Sports will make less money because people aren’t allowed to go to stadiums to watch the sports.

Even when the lockdowns ease up, people are going to take a while before they can consider buying tickets for various entertainment because of lost money during the lockdown. The multimillionaires of the entertainment industry might be able to last longer without pay, but they may see their pay sharply decrease if people aren’t willing to spend money on what they put out. Overall, the celebrities should probably be encouraging the economy to open up again because the longer it goes on, the harder the recovery will be. A harder recovery means people won’t be able to spend money on frivolous things as often.

I’m starting to wonder if their PR is telling them to support the lockdowns because it makes them look good. Remember most of the big stars have to focus on being nice to the whole industry and if you go against them you don’t get work. You do what they say so if they support the lockdowns you support it out of solidarity. Same thing with Trump most don’t really care but they have to say stuff against him to be in their good graces.

Exactly this. They're all mere pawns who just spout whatever the leftist zeitgeist tells them to, even if it doesn't exactly benefit them personally like right now with the entertainment industry crumbling as we speak. I've already seen it on TV with celebrities acting all "We're in this together!" and shit like something out of any given young adult dystopian novel. Some undoutedly know it's full of shit, but they have to play along anyway because in the end, they're nothing but mouthpieces for the men behind the curtains.

he’s not the hero we want. He’s the hero we deserve!

I suspect it’s more an actual paranoid fear of the virus. Hollywood celebrities tend to be mentally unstable and autistic on a good day. They shriek constantly about non existent imaginary threats. When a real one shows up, no matter how trivial, they completely melt down. “Oh noes! The Maids and Service people might infect me! Everybody must be quarantined so I don’t die!!!”

The funny thing is actual production isn’t starting to resume. Just not in the places they live. A ton of movies and streaming shows are made in Georgia, Louisiana and the Carolinas. (Great tax benefits. Low cast of production. No annoying unions. Hollyweird is nothing if not hypocrites.) Georgia alone accounts for most of the Disney Marvel stuff, Warner Bro’s live action streaming shows, Stranger Things, and Tyler Perry studios is ready to deliver all the Tyler Perry you could possibly want and then some. So you will not go without entertainment.

Anti-lockdown "movement": Powered by racism

These protests aren't really about public health policy or the virus — they're a display of white identity politics
While no one has stupid enough to suggest that white skin somehow shields you from the virus (at least not so far), a lot of rural and suburban white people who oppose the shutdowns are viewing it through a racialized lens. This is gently being referred to as the "urban-rural divide" on the issue, but should be understood as white conservatives who resenting having to give up their haircuts and dinners out at Chili's to protect the health of people living in racially diverse cities.

I know a 1/4th black girl on Facebook that's been spouting this same bullshit nonstop. Apparently it's racist for white people to want to go back to work.

Somehow it is racist for white people to want to go back to work so white people can fund the governments that are giving the gibs to the black people.

While perusing the local news I found this:
KENDRICK, ID — “You still have your retirement, you’re looking at two people that cashed theirs in” said Christine Lohman Kendrick Hardware Brewing Company. “And we’re not criminals, my patrons are not morons, we’re not morons, we’re clean and healthy. This is a productive people in our society, and they want to be allowed to go back to work and be productive.”

Despite Idaho Governor Brad Little’s order for restaurant dining rooms to remain closed for about two more weeks, one business in Kendrick is back open.

The owners of Hardware Brewery have the support of patrons, and elected officials including Idaho State’s Lieutenant Governor.

Patrons of Kendrick’s Hardware Brewing Company flocked to the popular establishment over the weekend from all over.

“Moscow, Sandpoint, there’s a table right here from Saint Maries,” said Christine Lohman owner.

People not only hungry for good food and drink, but for what they call liberty.

‘They're here in support of us, not just because they want to get out of the house,” said Doug Lohman owner.

“These are other Americans that want their liberty back,” Christine explains.

“They're here because they agree with us taking a stand,” said Doug Lohman.

Taking a stand, they say, in order to survive. The Lohmans’ poured their life savings into this business. They are frustrated with Idaho Governor Brad Little’s “Stay Healthy” order.

“We don't believe in any of this. we are just as clean as the kids at McDonalds serving your food or the people in Costco or Walmart or at the Maverick Station,” said Christine Lohman.

But according to Governor Little’s four-stage plan to reopen, restaurant dining rooms have to wait until at least May 16 or June 13 to reopen and that’s after plans have been approved by the local health district. Plans the Lohman’s don’t agree with.

“Their manner would make this building look like a morgue,” said Christine.

For example, instead of a full dining room Christine said they would be required to remove some tables in order to limit the number of people inside.

Idaho Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin, along with other elected officials traveled to Kendrick to also stand alongside the Lohmans. Lt. Governor McGeachin said people can manage themselves and are already following guidelines.

During the reopening event, an Idaho State Police officer told the owners he’s documenting their violation of the governor’s order.

“So, we either open now and I guess they could make us go bankrupt or pull our licenses but if we don’t and we run it the way they are telling us to, we will be bankrupt quietly in three or four months,” said Christine Lohman.
They just threw the finger at the Governor of Idaho and his stay-at-home order and opened up the bar. The MILF Lt Governor joined them.

Keep in mind that this bar is in the middle of nowhere where there hasn't been a hint of corona. Proving again that if your town's HS played mine in 8-man football, you are officially bumfuck nowhere and the governor doesn't give a shit what you do. He sends the State Police to half pay attention and wag their finger at you, which it the worst I've ever seen, I guess.

I'm just surprised the news covered it. The Lt Gov was there so I guess they had to. It's not often that Boise pays attention to what is going on innawoods up north.

Karl Manke, a barber in Owosso (small town between Lansing and Flint) reopens shop, despite Governor's orders and a citation by local police. Customers come from all over state. Karl Manke, 77, says he will keep working until "Jesus walks in or until they arrest me." He says he was denied unemployment three times and couldn't stay closed any longer. He has been wearing a mask during haircuts and disinfecting his tools.

As an Ohioan, it doesn't surprise me that the state government of Michigan is going full retard. Our governor is just taking advice from a woman who is technically a doctor, but doesn't know how viruses reproduce and has been wrong on all her predictions.
