I understand there was going to be some differences between the film and the game, the game being super natural in nature while the movie had a more grounded explanation. That's what also pissed me off about the film, it just felt rushed and fanservice-y. Not to mention, the writing and dialogue was completely laughable in a few areas that is even up there with the Hunger Games, Twilight, Ang Lee's Hulk, or either Star Wars prequel or sequel trilogies.

But I also felt like the game went to great lengths to establish the lore and the back story summing up 20 odd games into a single cohesive narrative.
Then, well as you said, rushed fanservice tacked on to the last minutes of the film.
When a fanmade UE game looks more Tomb Raider than squenix' expensive boring Uncharted knockoffs

I kind of wish Eidos Montreal would take over the franchise. I've started playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider last month and it feels way better than the two previous games (perhaps I'm wrong and the game gets worse later).Crystal allegedly hiring for a new game
i kept wondering why they brought him back and not lara's actual best friend established in the first game of the rebootPratchett and Crystal Dynamics completely missunderstood the character. I know they wanted to do something else with this trilogy (an Uncharted clone), but Lara is not supposed to be a guerilla fighter with a big black samoan sidekick.
This has been a thing for many many years, especially with Japanese games. Any attractive female character get's their shit fucked up to make them less appealing, whether its erasing their cleavage, editing pics/cutscenes to not show their chest, or piling on more clothes ontop of their clothes, just to pander to these fucks that think boobs are the greatest evil ever. The fact of the matter is that majority of females that dislike big boobs are also the same ones that have super-low self-esteem issues because of their own small tits, not realizing that all men have different preferences in boob size.Is it just me or all these feminist writers are obsessed with boobs
Exactly. It was implied several times in the first game that Sam was her best friend. Pratchett and the other writers kind of forgot about her and forced that samoan dude in the two other games for no reason. It also sends a weird message, that she can't do shit on her own, that she needs a based black man to help her.i kept wondering why they brought him back and not lara's actual best friend established in the first game of the reboot
They didn't forget about Sam, they wrote her out in the comics. Being possessed by Himiko's spirit made her go crazy and she ended up getting institutionalized or some shit.Exactly.
